Russell seems to be a guy whose value has fluctuated quite a bit over the past few years.

I'm interested to see the final player movement in this deal Westbrook deal.

As I understand it, it's the reunion trade:
* reunites Gobert and Conley
* reunites the Lakers and their #2 pick "I see shades of myself" (said magic Johnson) Russell.
* reunites Westbrook and another team that doesn't really want him.

I don't know where all of those other players fit in, though.

Anyone looking forward to watching some of Kyrie Irving's debut for Dallas tonight @ Clippers?

I can't lie.

Before Brooklyn?

Kyrie Irving was one of favorite NBA PG's within the entire league and I'm just pretty excited to have an opportunity to enjoy his style of play again (always made me sick to see him with the Nets).

I find this trade fascinating. All three teams are in the play in area for the playoff hunt yet only 5 games separate 9 seed Minny from the 3 seed. The Lakers's agenda can't be anything but win now. Ainge shipping off Conley, Beasley, and Vanderbilt for Westbrook, two throw ins, and the Lakers 2027 lightly protected first rounder would also seem a clear signal to tank properly along with getting a pick. Where I scratch my head is The Wolves -- do they feel a 35 year old Conley helps them more than Russell? Article I read said they also got picks but didn't specify.

Good trade for Lakers as thei trades adds much needed depth. Will this help them make a push for the play-in? Still depends on Davis's health. Westbrook will be bought out...I can see the Heat, Clippers and Bulls trying vying for his services. If I had to guess, Westbrook will be a Clipper by the weekend. I'm guessing Minny moved Russell rather then lose him for nothing. They control Conley's contract for another year...

Just caught the highlights of Kyrie's debut. Biggest takeaway is that Theo Pinson getting non-garbage minutes for the Mavs! 9/4/2 in 16 minutes, Mavs win by 6.

Lebron really pulls the strings on the league - I dunno how they got that much value back for Westbrook. Minny probably wanted 2 first round picks from us for Vanderbilt and Beasley alone
