the team is beating teams they should be beating. they are playing well on their home court. both these things are what you need to be a playoff team.

the issue, however, is will they win the division? this must be the long term objective. right now they are one whole game in from of the nets and a whopping 3.5 games ahead of philly.

furthermore, are they going to gain the second seed in the east? anything less than that spells trouble. right now they are second but then again 3.5 games separate 2nd seed from 8th seed.

this is the genuine big picture.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

You're right he often isn't the sub for Melo but but if you look at the 5 man units, you'll see that when Melo is off the floor, Novak is always on the floor, while Novak is seldom on the floor with Melo. So, if Melo's on the bench, Novak will be in, and shockingly, the defense will be worse.

Melo has won ecf player of the month for the last month of 11-12 and the first month of 12-13. He also has won it for the two regular season months Woodson coached him.

Nah Man, Melo is not in contention for MVP despite that receiving that award and his team having one of the best records in the NBA. Also, the voters for Eastern Conference Player of the Month are obviously Melo Homers!

You read it right but I suspect are taking the wrong conclusion away from it. Everybody is on the floor a lot with Anthony because he plays so many minutes. When calculating the on/off +/- what matters is that Novak is usually off the floor when Anthony is on it and on the floor when Anthony is off it.

He's the leading scorer on a 12-4 team. He definitely will receive MVP consideration.

I said no one has complained about the start. There are people who have complained about the roster, though. If you're commenting on the 12-4 start (which is what I thought you meant by "enjoying the ride"), though, then no one is complaining about that.

So you follow the Nuggets/Rockets who are losing yet say they Knicks used to represent things that are important to you now they dont but we're finally successful after all these years

So you rather see teams like Denver and Houston play 100% team ball and lose while the Knicks mix it up with isolation and play hardcore defense and win......ok I get it now
