I’ll continue to hold the minutes police back as long as I can. But I can’t hold them for too long. Monday now turning into a must win.

“At some point, you got staff, you got assistants, you got a GM, you got presidents [who should tell Thibodeau to stop playing the starters so much]. And, it’s a data league, bro. Data is probably telling you, ‘Hey, the starting 5 is playing way more minutes than the average starting 5 in the league.’ So I’m sure he’s heard this. It goes back to what Paul just said, [Thibodeau] is so stuck in his ways and he knows how to win one way, man,” Garnett said.

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were great players, but they arent rocket scientists. I dont find their takes to be special. He should remember that he didnt win **** till Thibs coached his defense.

But iHart brings up a good point about guys that play a ton of minutes - they dont practice. These guys lack defensive chemistry. Last years team had guys who always knew where to be.

That statement from Hartenstein is extremely telling.

How is the team building any cohesiveness if the starters aren’t practicing with the bench players? How are the bench players (specifically the young players) getting tested and evaluated if they’re not training with the starters? How much is Thibs involved with the development of the younger players when “his guys” aren’t at practice? Does he leave that up to his assistants?

the starters are top of any set of starters in the league and it's not close.

Or ridiculed

There’s always two sides to a coin.

When Mitch comes back, Thibs will have the best Two Way team he ever had with the most roster flexibility every coach dream of. How long will it take the Minutes police to start an up roar. We have a chance to play KAT and MITCH which is interesting. With Kate unselfish passing MITCH would eat.

But I don’t see Thibs changing the starting lineup. Is that good or bad? Seems like there might be a better starting 5 if you mix around a few players. For example: Love Josh hart but to me he’s a 6th man on a legit championship squad, just based on historical championship rosters.

will be interesting how Thibs handles a full roster with money Mitch coming back.

This roster with a healthy Mitch is arguably better than anything he ever had with the bulls yes.

I hope we see a healthy Mitch added to this group. I believe in Thibs to find a way to have Mitch impact the game and generate more wins. I believe Mitch healthy is key to our championship run. Even if used as a trade, Mitch is key.

Question……Are we better not trading at all? If everyone is healthy what are we missing? Serious question.

This roster with a healthy Mitch is capable of winning a championship. I know there’s no way Thibs does this but we have to rest Mitch rest of the regular season to guarantee him being on the court in the playoffs. Mitch and KAT together with OG and Kale on the perimeter is a scary defensive lineup

Bring him back slowly, it’s not that hard.

I agree...but for Thibs it actually may be hard as he seems to have a "trainers won't let you play yet" or "if you're deemed healthy and on the court you play whatever minutes I need you for" attitude which is very black and white thinking.

Both of them played a lot of minutes in their primes and I don't remember them whining about being tired. This minutes debate is so tiring.

Like Tom Coughlin, Thibs will need to win a championship to be fully appreciated.

Right now that feels like “paper profit”, Thibs getting more from players than other coaches.

I’d be a lot more appreciative of Thibs if he can lead us to our first Finals appearance in 25 plus years. I would consider his tenure a success win or lose. I just want to see the Knicks in the postseason conversation again. We’ve been in the regular season conversation to this point.

Denial of Thibs playoff record? Its great to get more out of a player. But when are you doing it, and what are the results? Thats reality.

he's watching the starter's minutes... is there anything else worth watching?

Finals or bust! A reasonable expectation considering all the talent that was hear when Thibs joined. Remember the "he cant lure quality talent" arguments?

Vs Memphis everybody won, including the minutes police.

One advantage of Thibs “high mins with starters” do is it builds chemistry and allows the players to find their roll. That’s with starters or bench players.

High mins also gets you prepared for the playoffs which is a grind. But the healthiest team usually wins it all.
