If I opposed Knicks to sign Kyrie was not based on his odd personality but more that small guards who rely heavy on the ability of insane athletic quickness and speed past the age of 30. That charlotte passed on keeping Kemba walker at first glance seemed like a typical Jordanesque owner blunder but his injury now about a year old and that he has not recovered is a major concern for small guards. When Issiah Thomas (the short one) had his hip injury it was essentially a career killer. When the Great Allen Iverson was unable to keep his twitch up he lost a lot of his advantages. The list is long thru the history of the NBA.
I admire DRose a bit more in this version as he has developed a good court sense and improved his shooting to compliment what is left if some good athletic ability but has reconciled that he cannot just rely on it as he once has. In my opinion Dennis smith jr once he filled out a bit ran into a headwind that keeps him from developing. I think if he had found success at this level and secured his contract he might have been able to move to the next level. Thats speculative. He did not get to it and thus has been struggling. Sad for him and us because I think he got close to finding that groove.

Other musings.......Lin is schooling the Gleguae. Iggy Bratz been having some good moments. I watched Jared Jack close out a game at age 37 for the Ignites team with a wonderful grace. Small window to how big the discrepancy is from the Gleague to the NBA.
NCAA division one also wider. This is why the Draft is so hard. A CJ McCallum from freaking Lehigh carves out an epic career which took a few years to develop.

its why patience is needed and why its so hard for players and teams to get it right. Fans take so much for granted when applying hindsight.

Just out of curiosity I checked out the Pelicans/Piston game last night for a number of reasons:

DSJ, Lonzo Ball, Zion and Bledsoe (since a couple of people mentioned him as a solution to our PG issues.

1) DSJ - played decent but also confirmed why I have never been a fan of his. On one play he played aggressive defense on rookie Kira Lewis, forced an over and back at half count and just loses his mind. Starts with the theatrics, slaps the ball out of Kira's hands and gets in the dude's face I guess trying to intimidate him. DSJ is barely in the league, one week removed from preparing for the G-league and he's acting like he's a big time player trying to get in the head of a rookie. DSJ's biggest problem is his lack of self awareness. His high school days are over and he doesn't recognize that.

2) Lonzo - people talk about him for the Knicks. Not interested. His game at the NBA level doesn't line up with his hype. He passes better than Payton but I don't see him as a significant upgrade. Definitely not worth giving up any valuable assets.

3) Zion - ultra athletic, sometimes appears unstoppable, just don't know how long we'll be able to play this way without developing more finesse to his game.

4) Bledsoe - pass, I want no part of that guy in New York.

Thanks. Pretty much what I had assumed without having seen them play

^ Detroit's front court last year - former all stars Blake and Drummund - both sitting as teams figure out how to get rid of them.

The downside of max and supermax contracts: Drummond, Blake, Westbrook, Wall. Conley, Batum, Love? Kemba feels like he will be there in a year.

I don’t understand what the Raptors would offer- all the big salary players are ones they’d want to keep?

They've got Kyle Lowry at 30.5M. Just a swap of onerous, expiring deals.

Doubt the Cavs would want Lowry, however we could help out:

Knicks trade: Frank, Knox and Payton to the Cavs (save over $10mil salary and try out Frank and Knox)
Knicks get: Lowry

Cavs trade Drummond to Craptors

Craptors trade Lowry to Knicks

Just speculating. There are reports that Lowry recently put his home on the market. I wouldn't mind a redirect to NY tho. Kyle is an east coast guy and and would probably be down.

I would guess that more would need to go to TOR, and maybe Payton would be redirected somehow to TOR (maybe Baynes to CAVS)?

Interesting idea

Not sure what clev paid or him last year but imagine they want more than Lowrey as an expiring unless they thought they could get two more years from him? When healthy Cavs are not bad. back court is talented but not “seasoned” and perhaps his leadership would elevate. They need that.
The seeds are there for one of those “improbable runs”.
Which his pending free agency and age they appear to be nearing the end of their journey together. Masai I don’t believe has extended his contract so there might be all kinds of things happening.
Perhaps DJ can chime in?

Glad he got his money and hope its not a lingering after affect. Not talking weeks, but years!
Much we don’t know about virus despite overall cavalier attitude about it.

I've had it, it took me 3 weeks/1 month to breathe normally. It wasn't severe, more of an inconvenience. Something alike to having to make the air pass through a filter inside the lungs, breathing requires more effort, and I coughed whenever I tried to speak too fast.
