1) If it's true, I hope Jeter is ready for this.

2) There are lots of other Jeters out there ya know, that could also be rich. Just b/c one celebrity got married there, doesn't mean it's Jeter. Who knows though.

the thought of Javy V starting a postseason game should not make any Yankee fan happy.

the guy wasnt the best fielder (in my view), wasnt really a great hitter (until the roids), and now folks are gonna look at his power with doubt. and he is gonna be a hitting coach? LOLZZ at larussa for "not knowing the whole story" till today... dude was the mgr of the a's and cards and had no clues. and bonds had no clue what he was taking either.

So Cincy landed that kid Chapman. Well at least the Red Sox didn't get him...

Kinda feels like Cash may be done here...With Javy back and you figure either Joba or Hughes as the 5th guy, they might be done with the rotation but I still might look to add to the bullpen. With either Joba or Hughes back to the rotation, Coke gone and Mo a year older, that bullpen right now is not as strong on paper. Mike MacDougal's a guy that's out there right now that I'd like to see them go after. About 33 years old I think he's still got plenty to offer. Still throws very hard and he gets ground balls with that heavy sinker. Might be a perfect fill in for either Joba or Hughes, depending on which guy winds up starting...MacDougal has a lot of experience closing games too (converted 20 of 21 saves last year for Washington)...This guy might be a good pick up for us - a good quality, experienced late inning arm just in case Mo ever went down, God forbid...

with hairston going to the padres for $2 mil, i think its safe to say johnny damon isn't coming back.

matsui, damon, hairston, and hinske are all gone from the offense. i'm assuming ramiro pena is going to be the "jerry hairston" and granderson, while a different hitter, is going to assume the johnny damon role. nick johnson is the everyday DH? and i'm assuming gardner is a corner OF? are either joba or hughes off the innings limit this year? i think hughes is better fit for a starter and joba as the 8th inning guy, but that's just me. it seems like joba is so much more comfortable/stuff fits in better in the pen.

great thing is halladay is out of the division and the red sox offense is in the gutter, but this should be a tough season, plenty of ? marks.

we're looking for a cheap righty OFer to platoon w/Gardner in LF... Reed Johnson & Xavier Nady are the names being talked about.

i'm down with an OF platoon like that. i think nady is a good fit if he's fully recovered, i always thought he was decent. i think gardner is a great platoon/bench OF but as a regular every day guy i think his weaknesses will be exposed

as part of a platoon at low dollars i'm OK w/Nady... never was crazy about him as a fulltime starter tho... Swisher was a much welcome upgrade over Nady last year, not just in power production but especially in his presence & energy in the clubhouse... i'd rather have Nady than Reed Johnson if he's healthy cuz Nady brings a little pop in his bat... Reed Johnson's pretty much a right handed version of Gardner w/far less speed... i do like his scrappy style of play tho... would've liked to bring in Marlon Byrd but i guess the Yanks don't wanna do anymore multi-year deals at this point... Cubs picked him up at a pretty fair discount 3 yrs. $15M

reports say Chien Ming Wang might be ready to pitch in the majors by May... anyone think we'll bring him back as a free agent sometime next year? & if so, how much would u be willing to risk?

Reed would be a good pickup. He hits lefties pretty well over his career and would make sense as a platoon player. He was pretty good with Toronto a couple years ago.

I think we should definitely bring back Wang. That wouldn't be a guy I would want to give up on so easily, especially considering you can trace his problems back to injury for the most part over the last 2 yrs. I'd be really pissed if he ended up on the Cardinals or Mets and ended up bouncing back. I could definitely see him doing that for a team like the Cardinals who have rehabilitated a lot of pitchers with Dave Duncan....

another name being talked about is Rocco Baldelli... i'd rather take a flyer on him than Reed Johnson cuz of his added pop, but his lack of durability is a huge issue.

another report i just read says the Yanks & Damon have had talks in recent days, maybe trying to hammer out a 1 year incentive laden type deal i'm thinking, maybe something along the lines of what Andy signed for last season?

A's just inked Sheets. They were apparently interested in Damon, but this deal may limit their remaining cash. Wonder if this makes Damon more likely to sign with us. I would very much like to land him with a 1 yr incentive laden contract (per TMS)

I read the team has a one year $2 mil offer on the table for Damon...

...obviously there is no way he takes that. He or Boras must have pissed the team off royally

i don't think they pissed us off, it's just how things panned out... we had offered him 2 years at $14 mil & they decided to wait out the market to get a bigger offer, so we moved ahead & used up the budget signing other guys... now we only have $2 mil left in the budget to spend because they wanna stay under $200 mil for the year... Cash said there's no deadline for them to spend this money.

New York, which gave up Minor League infielder Mitch Hilligoss in the deal, receives a 24-year-old who batted .258 with 40 RBIs in 123 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2009. Golson, who had 27 extra-base hits last year, is a .263 career hitter in the Minors with 48 homers and 265 RBIs in 634 combined games in the Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies organizations.

Golson, a first-round pick by the Phillies in the 2004 First-Year Playear Draft, has made it to the Major Leagues for seven games -- six with Philadelphia in '08 and one with the Rangers last year. He is 0-for-7 with two runs scored in the big leagues.

Prior to the 2009 season, Baseball America magazine named Golson "Best Athlete," "Fastest Baserunner" and "Best Outfield Arm" in the Texas organization. The acquisition of Golson puts the Yankees' 40-man roster at 39.
