i brought up Sweetney to prove to you that the Knicks will play a rookie taken w/a #9 overall pick...there's no reason why i would rule out a 4 year collegiate player from a division 1 school getting playing time over a guy like Mo T, JYD or Penny if he can come into training camp & show that he can make an impact on the roster, especially when Isiah's job could very well be on the line w/this offseason's acquisitions...the Knicks aren't going to let a lottery pick waste away on the bench all season long w/o at least taking a good look at what he can do, unless he's just not ready to play in the NBA.

this debate can go on forever, so i'll leave it at that.

In many ways Bynum is the perfect fit. A real GM would look at this roster and team put a pretty simple plan together. Houston, Shandon, JYD, Taylor, pretty much everyone but Crawford, Rose and Marbury expire 2 years from now. Its a realistic goal to stock up heavily on young players until that time. Its also realistic you will be able to move Marbury at that time for an expiring contract and draft pick leaving the Knicks with a core of young drafted players and max level cap space.

2 years...

The same school of thought can be applied to the HS kids out there; Green will probably be too high but Webster and Miles are options.

Just have a plan. We havent seen that yet, or we have alreay seen 2-3 plans come, fail and go. Either way its been ugly.

Well, according to Bonn, we're better off than every other team b/c Mo T is better than Moochie, and our expiring contracts are gonna land us Manute Bol, so b/c of that, anything short of a championship next season is reason to see the world like it's roses/

I still don't understand this fascination with Hakim. He is a SF (which we already have a promising one of), he is way too undersized for the PF spot, he seems to have the tools to be a very good player but his wiry frame just totally scares me off, Not to mention we already have a young SF in Ariza (whom I see as a young Shawn Marion--he doesn't need plays to score, he is a great defender, he has an awkward jumper, and he is a freakin' greyhound!) who will find it very hard to get time if we take Warrick.

Almost everyone on this board complains we have too many PF's, but it's ok to have too many SF's? We have too many other needs (PF, C, possibly SG)to double up on a position we already have on lock with 2 young players who will stunt each other's growth because neither will get the amount of playing time they need to develop.

I like the idea of trading up from 30 and trading Sweets for picks, and maybe using Penny or Tim or KT to secure a mid pick.

My targets for this team are
Taft,
Petro,
Joey Graham (I think he can play SG like Igoudala),
Simien(I think he is a Ron Artest clone without the attitude, being able to defend 3 positions at least),
McCants,
Turiaf (6-10, hard working Oakley Clone)
Hodge with our second round pick.

I like Martell Webster more than Gerald Green, and those two long Chris Bosh looking Andray Blatch (and the other kid I can't remember his name), but I worry about exposing a High school kid to the pressures of being the savior of a New York team such as the Knicks.

I have, for one, am one half step away from giving up on Sweets. His ONLY goal this season was his conditioning and it actually got WORSE during the year. That to me is unacceptable. There are just some people who cannot get thinner, can not get ripped, or whatever. Sweets to me right now is looking like a very good player off the bench in main part because of his conditioning, using his bulk to push around tired starters or bench players.

Well, Shawn Marion is too short to play PF too, but he's had a great season doing it, b/c he's been in an uptempo system. If Hakim is in something similar, then he'll be a very successful NBA player. And although Ariza is promising, Warrick is in another league than Ariza. If you draft Warrick, we'd definitely have to make some trades, and we ABSOLUTELY have to let TT and Penny just burn.

But Marion can play the PF spot because he is strong and he is next to Amare and he has VERY good rebounding guards in JJ, Q, Nash gets his share of boards too. We are a poor rebounding team with no Center, everyone has been complaining that Sweets is an undersized PF at 6-8, 250-260....you think we can get away with a 6-8, 195 pounder at PF? PHX's system is Marion plays a SF's game at the PF spot, because he can get away with it due to the fact of the talent around him.
