its really weird. The trades together just dont make sense. One says we are building and looking to put a pipeline in place over the next 2 years. The other is taking any deal that gives us an upgrade, even if we dont need that player.
assuming we dont win the lottery our best bet is to probably draft a quality 3. Then maybe you can try to morph the team into something like what Seattle has.
Its hard to believe Isiah has a real plan when his moves just dont make sense. What happened to getting more athletic? Rose is a good tough guy, like a JYD with a post game, but Taylor is fat. Plain and simple. He's not athletic, doesnt play hard and he's fat.
Where's Bonn and his expiring contracts? If they are so valuable why didnt we keep Moochie and Vin for the offseason? Surely we could net a better player with the golden expiring deals? No?
To answer your question, I was away for the weekend.
One bad trade does not prove that all expiring contracts are useless. Expiring contracts helped us get Marbury and single-handedly gave us Crawford. Our 4 first round picks and about $80 mil in expiring contracts over the next 2 years should be huge trade assets. Time will prove one of us right. We'll have to wait and see.
Regarding the HOuston trade, I suspect that Isiah's reasoning was that Mo Taylor's expiring contract the year after next season would be more valuable than Moochie's and Baker's this year. (In fact, he mentioned in an interview that Mo's expiring contract would be a nice trade asset in his final year.) I already said I was against this move. I would have waited until the trade deadline next year to see if I could get anything better than Mo Taylor for Moochie and Baker. If I couldn't, then I would do the trade still. The worst thing that could happen would be to let an expiring contract expire, get nothing in return, and be about $55 mil instead of $60 mil over the cap.
