I really don't think Rose and Taylor are going to spend very much time here in New York. Either they will be packaged with the expiring contracts ot Tim Thomas and Penny or Isiah is going to buy them out. Chill out everyone, with 3 first round picks this year 1 of them in the lottery and the possibility of trading up into the lottery, things are looking up.

it looks like we didn't get a pick in the Rockets deal from what I'm hearing...
yeah, I was watching ESPNEWS and the bottom line said the same thing. No draft pick in the Houston deal, two picks in the Spurs deal.
What the hell was Zeke thinking? I don't hate the Spurs deal but I really don't understand the Houston deal if there isn't a pick involved. We bail out major salary for them as what? A favor? Tell me there's a pick, Zeke.

Ok now I'm listening to ESPN radio and they just said we are getting the Houston pick... that's it I'm waiting for the press conference before I read anything else

The Rockets trade is worthless and makes no sense if we didn't get a pick in that one.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

we didn't, it got confused that we got a first round pick from each team both San Antonio and Houston, when in actuality we got our 2 first rounders(basicly 2nd rounders) both from San Antonio one is from Phoenix from the Barbosa trade.

Isiah was a genius with the rockets trade (moochie + vin = 1st rounder???? how?!?!?) but got burned with the spurs trade. love the addition of another pick but gotta hate rose's 4 years, another undersized PF.

ESPN updated its story, looks like NO PICK FROM HOUSTON. This trade makes NO SENSE to me if we don't get Houston's #1. Did Zeke actually WANT Mo Taylor?
-------
New York Knicks-San Antonio Spurs-Houston Rockets: The Knicks agreed to two deals before Thursday's NBA trading deadline to acquire Malik Rose and two No. 1 picks from the Spurs and forward Maurice Taylor from the Rockets.
Both deals were awaiting league approval one hour after the NBA's 3 p.m. EST trade deadline and had not been finalized.
The Knicks would send starting center Nazr Mohammed and backup point guard Jamison Brewer to the Spurs for Rose and the two picks, a first-round choice in 2005 that originally belonged to the Suns, and the Spurs' No. 1 pick in 2006.
Taylor
Rose
In the Taylor trade, the Rockets would get backup center Vin Baker and point guard Moochie Norris.
The moves appeared to be a sign that Knicks president Isiah Thomas was placing a greater emphasis on rebuilding through the draft.
The Knicks would have their own No. 1 and the Suns' first-round pick this June, and the 2006 pick from the Spurs would put the Knicks back into the first-round of that draft. Thomas traded the Knicks' own 2006 first-round pick to the Suns as part of the Stephon Marbury deal.
ESPN Insider Chad Ford's analysis: Once again, team president Isiah Thomas is willing to take back huge contracts to get more talent. In the Spurs deal, the Knicks are sending back $5.5 million in future salaries for the remaining four years, $27.3 million of Rose's contract.
In the Rockets' deal, Thomas is sending back $8 million in future salaries and getting back $18 million in return. In total, the Knicks, who have the largest payroll in the league, will add an extra $32 million in future salaries. For the Rockets, this trade was a salary dump and an effort to shore up a thin point-guard crop.
For the Spurs, not only did the clear $21 million in long term salary, they got another legit center in Mohammed – something the team felt it desperately needed.

I wasn't too crazy about this deal earlier on but when I found out we got 2 first round picks instead of one, that made a big difference.

Zeke is an idiot if he didnt get a first rounder from Houston. 9 mil per year till 2007 and we have 5 freaking PF's. I guess we just have to chill and wait till we get the details from the source.

Isiah will be doing some major moves after the season, especially now that he has some pretty commodity to trade. Penny or TT or HOuston and Malik Rose or Kurt Thomas is a hell of an offer to any team who is in need of expiring contracts. Houston, TT, Penny, should be attractive to many teams. Why complaining about the moves that Isiah has made. I was just hoping that he would find a way to rid us all of Kurt Thomas....

Why? Should have just called it quits after the SA trade. I would have been thrilled. I don't even think I would have been all that mad if we didn't give up a pick.

I wonder if the 2006 pick that needs to be sent to satisfy the Mabury trade has to be a NY pick. It would make sense if the Spurs Pick gets sent for that.
