I would just like to see them actually make picks. I understand they probably won’t trade up in order to save salary, but it would be nice to add some real talent alongside Diawara to give the Knicks some exciting young talent to work with.

we going to draft a 2 way wing to replace Hart in the starting lineup this draft. Then Diawara will be OGs back up next year in the rotation. Internal improvement is on the way for next season.

This keeps us small. If we are to replace Hart. It should be with a natural 3&D PF.
Hart is fine in the starting lineup for the most part though, until we face double bigs like Siakam/Turner or Mobley/Allen.
Shamet also can be the SG to slide to the starting spot. WE NEED SIZE.

Def a trade up candidate. But he is a long shot if teams believe he has the cappabilities of adding the three ball to his game and be switchable defense. He would land just outside of the lottery. Would need a deal with Hornets or Memphis set in place where they would draft him for us in a trade they agreed with. He would be ideal in the 4/5 spot working alongside KAT & Mitch. And him being able to slide to the 5 keeps the mins freed up for MO.

Outside of Johnson though. Seeing how much KAT as a hub opened up the offense and freed up Brunson. We def should target a player who specializes in being that 3rd hub. This gives coverage for if KAT is in foul trouble or getting a rest. While JB played a great floor general game last game. Can't have the expectations that he will transform his game to that on a regular basis. Want to put him in position where its a bonus. Also keeps the ball flowing for Alvarado, Shamet, Mikal, OG, Mitch. Guys who are better 3&D/Finishers than ball moving creators. Josh Hart is absolutely a ball mover creator, but he is better at doing so pushing the tempo off rebounds and fast breaks. Which we could use a player that does this within a halfcourt set.

If Johnson was targeted and landed. Then would put more emphasis on Kolek at PG. As Johnson & Mitch could offer enough cover for Kolek defensively, and allow for 2 PG sets.

The Stepien Rule Catch
While they can trade the No. 24 pick for a future pick, the timing of when they officially execute the trade matters.Under the Stepien Rule, a team cannot be without a first-round pick in consecutive future drafts. Because the Knicks already owe their 2027 pick to Brooklyn, they technically cannot trade their 2026 pick before the draft happens.To circumvent this, Leon Rose will use a standard NBA loophole:The Knicks will physically use the No. 24 pick on draft night to select a player.Once the player is selected, the Knicks trade the draft rights of that player to Team X.Because the Knicks technically made a first-round selection in 2026, the Stepien Rule is satisfied, and the trade for the future 2027/2029/2031 pick is officially permitted by the league.

Im 2028, nets can execute a swap with either the Knicks or the suns so we simply have to better than the nets and phoenix to maintain our pick at its normal spot... great chance of that happening.
