Does that even matter?
Don't we discount this kind of high volume scoring as Empty?

In the GLeague, I think it’s more about individual growth and production. Team thing is hard with guys in and out.

Starters: Tyler McCullar Dadiet Dink Trey

When Dink isn’t running the show or getting shots, he struggles

Too many player ahead of him in the pecking order to get minutes this year but I think we’ll see McCullar next year. Haven't caught too much past the highlights and stats but they sure do look nice and Kev looks confident.

If Giannis is traded for, I’d guess one of McBride or Deuce is moved, allowing McCullar to be added into the rotation. He looks like a different version of a Miles Mikal Hart combo but without the smoother looking shot. He got POA defense, gets around picks, steals, assists, connector both offensively and defensively, and not afraid to shoot or mix it up.

IMHO if he wasn’t hurt and was playing like this out of college, he’d have been a lottery pick.

Lol. Which one is more likely to be traded. McBride or Deuce?

I plan to check out KMs shooting stats. That was the weakness in his draft profile (besides injury).

You know I gonna spin wit it

McCullar has starter upside.

He was possibly the best defensive player in the nation before he got injured.

He has a mature skill set, can handle the ball, shoot or create, passes well, picks pockets.

He's going to be an impact player if we hold on to him.

McCullar stats are eye popping. He looks the part for next year. In rotation IMHO

38 minutes, 31pts, 13-20FG, 5-9 3PT, 11AST, 4Steals, 4TOs.

I said Diawara is going to be special

And I've been banging my drum that McCullar is a stud waiting to get minutes

Maybe I can convince a few more people how good McCullar is NOW, not someday in the future

He benefitted from the roster glut because it gave him time to rebuild his body and get adjusted to the NBA, but now he will need minutes because he is ready for prime time.

He's an elite defender with creation skills, good handle, above average passing ability, shooting touch and he is big and strong.

He's 5" taller than Deuce playing the same role as either SG or combo/backup PG.

McCullar + Shamet returning on a fair deal is why Deuce may be flipped as an asset instead of given a big deal by the Knicks.

He's 6'6" which will make him quite valuable for his defense alone. His size means he can convert around the rim which is sometimes an issue for Deuce who gets blocked on the inside fairly often.

I really don’t want to see Deuce go, but if McCullar can bring the same defense but at 6’6 then we definitely have to consider moving him on the right deal. Honestly , I hate to admit it, but Deuce would be perfect on the Lakers next to Luka, LeBron, and Reeves. He could just focus on his strengths instead of having to initiate the offense like he has to do here sometimes. I want him to stay on the Knicks, but the kid deserves to get paid probably more than we’ll be able to.

We all love Dooooooooooce. He turned into a sniper and is a really good piece on any team. But if they are within a few percentage points of each other as shooters McCullar actually brings more ball handling, creation and passing options than Deuce. He's actually a better option overall on defense with his size and Deuce is a plus defender as it is.

McCullar is a really solid player and possible starter material. I'd like to run him next to Brunson, because Jalen benefits from playing next to a combo who can take the reins on some plays and let Brunson go off ball. Jalen would be pretty effective taking a few more catch and shoot threes.

Kevin would have been a top 20 pick if he hadn't sustained his knee injury. It was a really bad bone bruise that persisted so long most clubs took a pass on him. In hindsight, relative to the draft class of 2024 he looks more like like another Top 10 pick we plucked in the 50s. Both him and Diawara are amazing draft picks.

Dadiet was picked 25 in the same draft class and McCullar is far ahead of him in development which he should be considering his experience and age over Dadiet whom may still pan out for us.

One of the stellar achievements of this FO is filling the pipeline with up and coming players from the second round which helps when it comes time to decide on whom to pay up and whom to trade. At this point, I believe they will retain Mitch and move Deuce.

I don't follow how other clubs draft but has there been any other club of recent vintage that has drafted this well late in the draft? The Knicks are aces at it ATM.

How are you seeing McCullar "a few percentage points" behind Deuce as a shooter?

Yeah we need to see McCullar improve as a shooter over a sustained period of time. He’s never shot the ball well at any level. So I am skeptical.

I explicitly wrote "if he is within a few percentage points" because he does have to improve his three point shooting

However, saying he has not shot well at any level is completely false.

He shot over 50% from 2 point range during his college career. It was his 3 point shooting that needed improvement.

This is something he will able to improve over time. His shooting form looks clean and there is plenty to work with.

His all-around skill set is excellent and he can guard players Deuce cannot handle.
