here is the one thing about Kolek - suddenly, he's getting meaningful minutes with the starters and we're seeing ball movement and assists like never before. Is it the lack of JB and his dribbling? Is it others stepping up like Bridges and Hart? Or maybe Kolek is infectious and showing guys how to do it!

However I believe once he becomes permanent member of the rotation and play enough games his shooting will be at a level where it would be good enough to compliment his passing. For me Its amazing to see a rookie to run the offense this way and very enjoyable to watch as a basketball fan. Imagine with 1-2 years of experience what he would be able to do.

Lets hope he's strong enough mentally to ignore the criticism, and improve on his game. I agree with you. This thread will not age well. But thats all predicated on his development and playing time.

Personally, with the lack of defenders on this team (off the bench), Wright's 2-way impact (especially in the playoffs) will be huge for us. Same with Kolek's playmaking, if he can crack the rotation. But Thibs loves Cam Payne. Lets just hope he's on a short leash now that Wright and Kolek have arrived. I like Cam more than the average knick fan, but can't ignore Wrights impact on both ends.

why do you think that? I would not be surprised if Delon replaces him. Feels like Thibs plays him out of pure roster need.

Why do I think that? I'm watching the same game as you. There's no thinking involved. It's clear when you see Thigs rotation. Just wait until Cam is healthy. Hopefully Delon replaces him, but not holding my breath. And Cam has been playing well lately. He's just a different player and I think Delon brings what we need. I think Kolek does as well. See how Shamet looks like he can shoot now? Kolek knows how to deliver that ball in the shooting pocket. Very very important for shooters. JB is like Starbury. Passes the ball when he's in trouble. Kolek and even Delon, they are pass first players. But man, Delon brings some of the little things like tipped balls, steals, blocks, defense, hockey assist....stuff that doesn't show up in the stat sheet sometimes.

2. Towns
3. OG
4. Mikal
5. Hart
6. Deuce
7. Mitch

9. Shamet/Delon/Kolek

I doubt Thibs runs a 10 man rotation. I don't even think he runs a 9 man rotation. Who's the 8th man? Deuce is not a PG. Payne is a PG who wants to play SG.

Good luck Thigs with this one. Once everybody is back.

Delon could also replace Shamet...if Shamet isn't shooting well, than Delon brings more to the table in terms of what else he contributes. I have been surprised about how aggressive Delon is on the boards.

feels to me like Thibs wants Cam out of the game as soon as possible. Obviously he's eating minutes until Brunson comes back. Also depends on who's healthy.

The season is done IMO... this is all about getting Brunson back and seeing who is healthy for the playoff rotation. I think Wright beats out Cam for the stuff in bold. I think Mcbride/Shamet will get a little run depending on quality of play and healthy. As much Mitch as possible

he's also- granted it's small- shooting .444% from 3- which no one expected after his .245% with the Bucks.

Maybe he is D. Rose 2.0!

His shooting reminds me of hart when he first came. Eventually your shooting % will normalize. Right now he’s shooting good at the wright time.

Wright was shooting horribly with the Bucks, but he has made open 3's in his career. Not a sharp shooter, but he can make the shot when they leave him.

This is a kolek has no bag thread. You're going to have to start one on Precious.

But, since I was curious - 9 & 0 if he makes a 3. I think they may have quoted that on a much earlier telecast.

If he doesn't, the team record is 26 & 19.

We wouldn't know if Kolek even has a bag cause he's thinking pass first 99% of the time.

Kolek played 122 real rotation minutes over 7 games and only made a total of 6 field goals and 2 FTs. There is absolutely no argument he should get playing time right now over competent NBA point guards, of which we have 3 - 4 additional, now healthy ones on the roster. Guys he is a 30% FG, 11% 3PT and 40% FT. He isn't playable right now and we don't need to force it.

he's got no future in this league if he cant score. He's so fast and shifty. Feels like he can get to anywhere but it's not helping him get his shot off.

If anything he needs to be like Rubio... a guy who wasnt a big scoring threat but he was great at attacking the defense and could get you some buckets. Rubio was also a high lottery pick and was given the keys to run the thing. Kolek is NOT getting a chance like that beyond the G league (and he struggled to score there also).

Thing is Kolek is 24. He's McBride's age. I dont see how he's coming back after the summer with a ready to score in the NBA caliber offense. God I would love to be wrong. He's got some talent for sure but may just lack "it"

I honestly have much more faith in McBride becoming more of a PG who can back up Jalen than Kolek being a contributor.

Kolek is really likable but he's not good. I dont have anything against him... the "no bag" thread to trash the guy was really a response to the utter ridiculous stuff folks were posting about how this star was rotting on Thib's bench. One poster (I wont name him has he's very sensitive about that) even suggested we could have a Jeremy Lin here, but would never know because this coach isnt giving him a chance. FFS

Gut feeling is he gets traded to Sac, where he becomes the starter and puts up 15 assists a night along Sabonis's 20 rebounds a night en route to a 30 win season and above poster just cant let go the loss of our young John Stockton

I think he will score in the NBA. He may not be ready now, but I think he has a real 3 pt shot and he has a little float game he used in college that I think is totally translatable. He just needs more time. He was a 2nd round pick. We don't need to be crowning him either way. He's 4th on the depth chart.

I love the optimism and I hope you are right. Even if Kolek is out of the league in a year or two I still actually LIKE the pick. They took a guy who's super shifty and clearly brings some things to the table worth taking a shot on. Even if it doesnt work I still like the type of players our FO is adding.

Kolek needs plays and creativity on offense which Thibs has none. Thibs needs ISO players.
