Just way too herky jerky. Any shooter knows you will miss when you are doing that stuff unless you are Steph. I thought yesterday he looked like he was trying to set and keep his body in line when he would pull up. Shot looked much better yesterday.

Be great if it it's as simple as him doing that cause that can be repeated.

Give me more defense moving forward, as we expected, and I’m good. How shot has been a story, but it’s the inconsistency on defense that still worries me until a more consistent effort.

What if this is him. What if his defense was slightly overrated due to his wingspan. Seems like he’s a tweener on defense. Too slow for quick guards and not strong enough for big forwards.

He should play better overall and more consistent I agree. I’m just not holding my breath. His defensive reactions seems slow or late.

Is it an adjustment period to Thibs defensive scheme?

Like many things it could be an aggregate of things.
But the good news is he does make great plays on both sides of the ball.
He is playing most minutes in NBA.
He is on a new team.
He might be asked to do some things he is not used to and still acclimating.
Personally I thought some of the fan base here over rated him a bit the last few years especially since we pass him over in the draft. You redo that draft one might argue he goes 3rd? Oh, and Philly freaking trades him. The glue guy they needed in hindsight.
Luka, Jaren Jackson, then Mikal?
We really think we get both versions of Mikal? The PhoeKnix version and Nets? On some nights he is our 3rd option. When he is with the second unit he is looking for his shot and now has to play off Cam Payne and Deuce. So its not just the starters he has to acclimate to.

This is essentially how the Knicks excelled last year late in the year and the playoffs. Their top 6 was Brunson, Hartenstein, Anunoby, Donte, Hart and Deuce.

Sims starting to do dome Hartenstein like things on D. Good verticality at the rim and toughness against the screen. Hartenstein brought so much value on the floor on both ends that has been hard to replicate in this scheme, but Sims in the last 2 weeks has been a huge part of better defensive efforts. Was left on the bench too long against Charlotte.

He has been doing a better job of getting into passing lanes. Shooting is coming around. Needs to work on the turnovers next. Starting to see the wingstop formation come to life.

Remember when Deuce used to get like 4 steals per 36? Unsustainable I guess!

He shot 5 FT tonight - his most in a game this season and most since he shot 4 in game 2. He was posting up deep and was more aggressive in the paint which is how he drew them. Things are improving bit by bit.
