Offensive rebounding is more valuable than bigs shooting outside shots- one of the main reasons we have the 5th best offense this year despite shooting at a below average rate.

You don't develop a post game during the season, you do it in the offseason. You work on a couple of shots over and over and over again, so you don't have to think about what you are doing, you just do it.

A few years ago Mitch showed us vids of him taking long jumpers. I'm pretty sure I commented that he should be working on some shots in the paint, and foul shooting.

Nobody says Mitch has to be some kind of go to player on the offensive end, but why the F hasn't he actually added some skills to his offensive tool kit? His foul shooting has gotten worse, not better.

What does he do in the offseason...He gains some weight & puts on some muscle, which probably slowed him down a bit, but as far as his offensive skills, he's basically the same guy he was as a rookie.

If he has a 6'7" player pick him up on a switch, why can't he develop some shots which allow him to take him down low & exploit the size difference.

Look at Ben Simmons...the F'n guy was supposed to be some kind of generational player, but it was obvious from the first clips you saw of him that his jump shot form was terrible. I guess coaches he had while growing up figured he would dominate the NBA like he dominated people as he was coming up.
Then look at Lebron James...he worked on his weaknesses, and it made a difference. He didn't just grow up, he practiced in the offseason.
And what about our own David Lee...a limited offensive player when he came to the team, but he worked on his game and became a much more valuable player.

Mitch has yet to show us that he has the work ethic to improve as a player. This is his 5th year. He is a very valuable and situationally effective player, but also very limited. If he wanted a greater role in the offense, he should've developed his offensive skill set in the offseason.

I'm only giving you half credit for reading comprehension because you ignored the second half of the paragraph. There's a reason Ben and LBJ get max contracts and Robinson doesn't.

Steve Adams shoots 36% on free throws and Memphis has cratered without him. Shooting isn't everything.

First two seasons MRob averaged 7.7 and 6.7 fouls per 100 possessions. That's down to 5.1. With 12 games left he's set a career high on points garnered off assists.

JB is near the top in the league with points in the paint- what's the logic for Robinson taking any of those shots.

Your point about exploiting mismatches is exactly the issue here and what led to my original post. When he has a clear lane with Damian Lillard underneath the basket, it's on his teammate to pass the ball.

Im certainly not disputing Mitch's value to the team. Its not about how Mitch and iHart measure up statwise. Its about Mitch saying for years that he's ready to show an expanded game. Mitch can do that without anyone's help or permission.

Hartenstein hasnt felt comfortable shooting the 3 all season, as you pointed out. What did he do? iHart developed that little floater in tbe paint. They kept feeding him the ball for a few weeks until they started falling. Im sure they would do the same for Mitch.

Brunson is the PG, if he's upset about his role, he should take JB out for a nice steak dinner, and talk to him about it.

To paraphrase an old saying. Praise your teammates in public, criticize in private. Not helpful to the team to make a beef worldwide like that.

Mitch does this every season at some point. Complains about his role in the offense. So I dont see it as an isolated incident. Or anything to extrapolate except that he wants the ball more. Thats been a common refrain.

If the Knicks were headed for the lotto, and not the playoffs. I'd be more understanding of the timing.

I think we it being "no. 1 selling point" was a fabrication by us. One might assume more would be effective. Not always so.
Steve Adams career avg is 2.9 FT attempts per game. Im going to guess he does not often play in crunch time in close games as he might be hacked, or get many passes on offense then.
Its entirely possible Thibs gave him a mandate to get his FT% up or come playoff time he might not finish games or will be rotated out.

Problem is that you cannot call anything for Rob. He has almost no skills offensively aside from catching an alley-oop and teams guard against that. And this team does look for him, especially RJ and Grimes. They lob it when it's there. You cannot force an alley-oop either. His reward should be the team is winning. If Rob's expectation of himself is to be a scorer or a go-to guy on offense, he should go play in China cause he's not good enough on that end in this league.
