If Kyrie was about the chip, he’d stick to the end of the season. When he and Durant are playing they are legit contenders in the east.
This little **** no doubt planned to squeeze Nets ownership by waiting until one week before. Play well, show the game is there then squeeze. All this after he alienated with his short sighted statements.
Can this dude command a 4 year deal with no stipulations? He is 30, and still playing at a high level?
I have no hate for nets as a franchise. Players come and go, ownership comes and goes. They a franchise like any other and we have not had a real rivalry with them. They don’t eliminate us from playoffs, and we have not played important games with them. Knicks rule the city still. Thats my gig, I understand some feel differently.
I garner some sympathy for the ownership and FO as they have dealt with Kyrie fairly and he ****s on them. I respect Durants game and he no doubt picked a wrong wing man in his attempt to create his own legacy with a franchise. They came close, but covid and personality disorders happend!
Durant will be remember in 20 years as sure fire first ballot HOF, MVP,, finals MVP and prolific scorer over along career. He won’t have a place on Mt Rushmore but will be in most conversations as a top 20 player.
I was rooting for Nets AND knicks to both be relevant with greatness and usher a new era of NY hoops! True greatness is determined by being tested and I will always root for the knicks to come out on top. 1990’s was fun despite the lack of a chip. Important games vs worthy rivals like Indy,, Miami, Detroit, and of course the Bulls made the seasons must see TV. I recall in a bar in Mexico watching the knicks/Bulls last game of season before playoff started. some playoff implications but Larry Johnson went off and knicks won. It was april. It was fun. It mattered.
Great teams are often measured by a worthy rival. No team go untested. I pit Lebrons 2016 performance in Clev vs the record setting 72 win GS team as a great win. Perhaps an upset. I know Lebron haters won’t agree, but to me it was a feat that is diluted in a great career somewhat. It was an amazing performance.
For that matter, Kyrie and Durant don’t add much to fabric of society. Lebron has matured to temper his comments for social justice and does throw some serious money in his school. Kyrie pay for a School? Not sure I want to slam Durant too much other than his social media sensitive debates.
At the end of the day, Kyrie off court is his issue. Im sure some of it affects his team but I have not seen where he is a team cancer. He is a franchise cancer because his actions keep him off the court.
