Considering how efficient he is, I do question from time to time if the Knicks do indeed have player they can build a championship contender around. Brunson definitely doesn’t fit the general profile of a franchise player, but he’s certainly playing like one.

This cannot be true. He's not even in the top 20 in scoring average and 6 players higher than him have played as many or more games. So somebody is going to have to prove that stat, which seems impossible

It's clearly a simulation. Or are we the ones living in the simulation? I don't know. I always felt Brunson's head is too big in comparison to the rest of his body to be a real person. I'm high. I need to sleep.

I feel like "bit him" is an understatement. It neutered him and his team.

Mark is wasting prime Luka years with his and GM's management of the roster. They just gave up a guy FOR FREE who in a trade - playing like he is now - would have garnered big return IF Brunson was given a bigger chance. Like 2-3 first round picks return and a player.

It's going to take a long while for the Mavs to be in a position to add another talent along the lines of Brunson with their cap and general asset management.

And boo-yaa, Knicks control their next first round pick and Dallas is a hammy away from dropping games and landing in the mid-teens area

Good point. could have been part of the value proposition to the the knicks. IF Brunson was gone would they be worse and it values the pick?
Granted, its not working as Dallas is doing pretty well but there is the statistical probability of injury.
That they traded for KP and waited for his injury to get him on the court. While trading him did improve their flow it appears Dallas/Kidd did not use him properly. His resurgence in DC has been impressive. His humility and maturity (see article, he all but says Janis steered him wrong?) might be part of it.
So while Dallas needs to get “stars” to help Luka, is he the kind of player that does not make others around him better? Is Luka a sort of modern Melo? One who is super talented but hard create chemistry with? KP is no super star and neither is Brunson, but removed they are doing very well.

Some numbers since Jan 1st...

Brunson, 6 games, 200 points.
Doncic, 5 games played (and 1 inactive game), 174 points.
Embid has 3 inactive games.
Giannis, 5 games played (and 2 inactive), 123 points.
SGA, 6 games played (and 1 inactive), 180 points.
Durant, 4 games played (and 1 inactive).

So he's very good, *and* durable.

I am not sure superstar (YET but maybe that's just me) but he is doing fabulously.

I think Brunson has another level to get to. Like JKidd/Nash level passing and I'm all here for it.

The clutch factor and his efficiency not falling off despite being the main guy had sort of pushed him to superstar level in my opinion.

Lets get him to an allstar spot, then carry us one round in the playoffs.
Then can we talk “Superstar”. Really his play the last 25 games are really exciting and since knicks went to a tighter lineup the team is winning.
Anyone can call him what they want.

In terms of scoring average, Embiid just overtook him for Jan 2023. He has had a lot of big games in the last few days.

As of noon on 1/15:
Joel Embiid (4 games) 34.3
Brunson (6 games) 33.3
Mitchell (6 games) 33.2
