He would still unlock Randle and Barrett. The entire middle of the floor would be open. Like any deal, it would need to be at the right price of course. Plus maybe he struggles more so we can buy low. He’s destroyed the Knicks this season.

Why is it that he can "unlock Knicks players", but not his own teammates in Indiana?

Indiana Pacers (before Myles Turner)

2011-2012 = Eastern Conference Semifinals Finals.

2012-2013 = Eastern Conference Finals.

2013-2014 = Eastern Conference Finals.

Indiana Pacers (after/since Myles Turner)

2015-2016 = 1st round exit.

2016-2017 = 1st round exit (swept 4-0).

2017-2018 = 1st round exit.

2018-2019 = 1st round exit (swept 4-0).

2019-2020 = 1st round exit (swept 4-0).

2020-2021 = Failed to make playoffs (34-38).

2021-2022 = Failing to make playoffs again (14-24 and 10 games below .500).

No thank you man.

I'd much rather see how a younger 23 year old Center in Mitchell Robinson performs during the PLAYOFFS (before ever quitting on Mitchell Robinson for Myles Turner) because a healthy Mitchell Robinson who's also playing with PLAYOFF INTENSITY? Is something I can not wait to see.

Mitchell Robinson = Career Player Efficiency Rating of 21.2

Myles Turner = Career Player Efficiency Rating of only 16.9.

NY fans for some reason seem to be in love with Turner's career 3PT% of .354% but I'm not.

Because Mitchell Robinson is an overall better and more impactful Center than overrated Myles Turner is. Mitchell Robinson is also more than 2+ years younger than Myles Turner.

One more thing.

Career PER 36:

Mitchell Robinson:
12.8 points.
11.1 rebounds.
3.1 blocks.
1.3 steals.
FG% of .714%.

Myles Turner:
16.0 points.
8.4 rebounds.
2.9 blocks.
0.9 steals.
FG% of .490%.

Mitchell Robinson might not shoot 3s. But he's just straight up a better basketball player than Myles Turner is.

The most I'd give up for Myles Turner is a 2nd round pick. And it wouldn't be to replace Mitchell Robinson either. It would be to replace Taj Gibson/Nerlens Noel as our backup Center.

The asking price is t0o high just like it was for Sexton, and Leon is as conservative as it gets.

Leon said the knicks will still looked to be aggressive on the trade front, but that was a bold face lie.

He hasn't been aggressive at any point since he's gotten here, we have made some minor trades on draft night to move down in the draft, traded for Rose even though we were sitting on 30 mill in cap space all last season.

Kemba and Fournier were decent acquisitions, but lets be honest, Derozen and Ball would have been a more aggressive approach they just didn't want to shell out the extra $$$.

I'm not sure those were the right moves to make w/I getting a real PG first. But I think DeRozan was set on going to LA, with Chicago as his fallback, before the season even ended. The Ball to Chicago deal was also at up before FA even started. I'm not sure I can say how aggressive Leon was in his pursuit.

well to answer the bold

Turns out, according to two NBA sources, [Knicks GM Scott] Perry was leaning toward a bolder pursuit, that of San Antonio standout swingman DeMar DeRozan. According to the sources, DeRozan had sincere interest in the Knicks, but instead ended up with a generous deal in Chicago – a three-year, $85 million package. The Knicks inked [Evan] Fournier for four years, $78 million (with bonuses) while retaining a team option for the final season."

It was simply a more passive approach, but where i was wrong was thinking fournier was more on perry and Thibs than it was on Leon.

The Team friendly contracts given out this summer is a good and bad sign for this FO

The good is that you can expect them to not over pay for any player in the NBA, i don't care who it is.

The bad is majority of above avg players will always follow the money unless they get traded here, experience playing here like Randle any wants to re-up at a discount

Look at you writing like you had a seat in the room where it happens and you don’t.
Thank goodness there are others here well read and willing to chime in.

He’s a poor fit next to Sabonis. That has been a very publicized issue since he came into the league. He can’t “unlock” a player he’s a poor fit next to. Sabonis is a center.

And no one is comparing Robinson to Turner as far as who’s better. We are talking about fit specifically. Turner opens the floor for Randle and Barrett. Mitch, for all he does well, clogs the paint.
