I'm not sold on Haislip. In my mind, he is a SF. He is athletic, but he likes to hang around the perimiter at times and he doesn't have a good low post game. Think about it, why would the Bucks release him if he had any shot at being a decent PF or C (which is where they need help)? I think they released him because they think he is a SF (which is a position they have covered). I'm not saying I'll be pissed if we pick him up because he can be a decent addition as a SF. However, I don't want to pick him up for the reasons everyone else wants to pick him up.

Marcus Haislip (6'10")- First Round, 13th overall

NBA Comparison: Marcus Camby

Strengths: Amazing run jump athlete with great work ethic. A workout junkie, bench presses 400 pounds. Might have one of the highest verticals in the NBA someday. Very good shotblocker. Offensive game doesn't always look pretty especially his post moves but the result is usually positive.

Weaknesses: Appears to still be learning the game. Doesn't always look like he knows what he's doing. Fundamentals can improve.

He is still young and has the height to play PF/C. As the experiment he would be here in NY you could try to teach him, see if he can make it. There is nothing to lose and he fits the direction this team is going: young, big potential, needs another chance, athletic, and as the article mentions he has good work ethic. At least to give him a try; you never know...

I definitely wouldn't mind giving him a shot, I just think some people are getting a little too excited over him. Everyone has to realize that he is not a PF/C right now, he still has a lot to learn if he ever does play one of those positions. Right now he is a SF basically, can he grow into a PF/C? Maybe, I certainly wouldn't mind giving our staff a shot at turning him into one.

People are more excited over what Haislip can become as opposed to what he is now. He is 24, and actually last year would have been his senior year, he came out as a Junior. We have a staff that seems to be accomplishing alot teaching younger post players the game (just look at Sweetney. They are also teaching Ariza, though he is not a post player). The man may be able to play and he may be able to play well....The Bucks usually draft well, but they never seem to fully develop their guys. I think that Haislip can at least be better than Baker and maybe on Par with Nazr. He also will fit the system better than Nazr will....He was the #12 pick in the draft for a reason...

I understand that by why wasn't anyone excited when we were about to sign Eddie Robinson? Eddie is talented and is also pretty young (not a big guy like Haislip, yet still a talented player). Yes, he caused problems in Chicago because he wasn't getting minutes, but he also could have turned into something special. I just think people are getting a little too excited over this guy because they think he already is a PF which he is not. Don't get me wrong, I want to add younger players and I will be happy with adding Haislip, I just think everyone should calm down a bit. If Haislip had showed me that he could play the PF or C position in the past, I would be excited, but all he has shown me is that he is a SF. Like Tim Thomas at times, he seems afraid to want to go to the post. However, I still hope we can get him and turn him into a PF/C.

I was excited; he's the kind of low risk (for only a $1.3 mil contract) potentially high reward type of player that I'm glad Isiah is looking for.

Yea I know, you and me were basically the only guys that were happy that Eddie Robinson was signing. Now people are excited of the thought of signing Haislip, who is also a SF right now

I'm about as excited about Haislip as I was about Eddie. But that wasn't much. I'd be almost happier staying put and going with the rotation we've been using the past 2 games.

Eddie Robinson was a rudundant piece on a team filled with swingmen, but he had the potential to be very good and possibly make Thomas expendable...That is why I personally was ok with the ERob signing...he indirectly would have filled a Knicks need.

Haislip directly fills the need for a big man who is young and has potential. He is athletic, young, and a shotblocker and was a 12 pick in the draft one year ago. I don't understand how the Bucks could have given up on him so quick, honestly. Short term he is not the answer but if he is given time to develop, he may be...
