Since trading for Rose last year the team was 27-15. For those watching at home that translates to a 52 win team over 82 games. So basically they brought back the same team which is very young.

Its literally last year's squad signed to reasonable contracts. You lose Bullock, ELF and Frank. You replace them with Fournier, McBride and Grimes and there's your Knicks

Yes thats basically it. And I think right now you're team is set up for 2 directions - you get to midseason and you're underachieving? You unload Rose, Burks, Fournier etc. knowing they can help a contending team and aren't getting paid albatross deals and see if you can stack a pick or two. Or you are doing pretty well and you say, heck lets go for it, and trade the Toppin, IQ, Robinson, Knox, Vildoza, Grimes, McBride, Rokas of the world with some picks to try and land someone big.

Would be cool if @Martin or @Andrew could lock 🔒 up this thread. I was frustrated and disappointed and overreacted last night. Woke up today and actually thankful we're running it back with the same squad + McBride and Grimes + no Elfrid/Frank.

I'm really excited for Argentina's PG Luca Vildoza too.

If we can have Mitchell Robinson healthy for the playoffs we'll put in some work.

i keep thinking there's a move afoot with CHarlotte. rozier and lamelo at point seems a bit nuts especially given how thin they seem to be in the front court

Now that I've had time to reflect instead of knee jerk reacting I believe our Front Office might be confident with developing our own PGs of youth in Immanuel Quickley/Miles McBride and Luca Vildoza.

Maybe martin or Andrew could just change the thread title? LMAO

So things aren't so F- bad. We overpaid for a fringe SF who's better supposedly than Bullock and worse defensively. Not that Reggie was ever making me think of Kahwi defensively.

We resigned most of the cogs that ran the engine to the 4th seed, after spending last pre-season predicting gloom and doom. The valued yoots are intact, and we have some more interesting projects to watch and argue over their development for another season.

What will do without Frank?

I don’t think so actually.

Fournier is absolutely puzzling. He has some skills, but we are essentially the Orlando magic now. The team in the 7-10 range. They just traded an all star away and Fournier was their number 2/3 option.

The names thrown out all offseason just like years past were never realistic. What happen this offseason was always the reality.

Fournier’s skill set fits really really nice next to RJs skill set and can effectively lineup at either wing spot. So if we wanna use RJ to bully smaller guards we can do that with Fournier at the 3. If we wanna use RJ for 3&D for stretches we can do that as well. Burks and Fournier both can create offense or shoot. The trio is pretty solid at wing with 3 proven producers that can put up 20 any given night.

Overall it’s the same core minus Elf and Bullock but the upgrade from Bullock to Fournier. The missing piece to lock in playoffs is that floor general upgrade from Elf. But Randle, RJ, Fournier, Rose proved 4 locked 15+ a game scorers. With IQ & Burks able to come in and put something up themselves. If Mitch can finally take that step then that would be huge.

But the team needs to be able to string together winning seasons and show stability. After this next season if a stud becomes available Knicks still have draft picks and movable pieces to attempt to take another step. Fournier with 2 yrs and a TO is very movable. Noel and Burks with 2 yrs left on their deals would be very movable. Or if it’s IQ, Toppin, Mitch depending on circumstances and the player to be had.

Swing for Lonzo whose elite on defense and shooting the ball with room to improve the team with his playmaking.

Fourniers playoff numbers are embarrassingly paid.

You don’t overpay guys unless you are close. Our cap is now ****ed with extensions for Mitch and Randle coming. Just embarrassing day all around.

absolute bull ****. Lonzo sucks

I wont say he sucks, but I accepted that Lonzo was not TT type of PG, and wouldn't/ shouldn't be here about a month ago.

I’m guessing you never watched Fournier play because he absolutely is an upgrade over Bullock

Reggie Bullock made 163 3's last year.

Evan Fournier (only) made 117 3's last year.

And you guys are acting like we just landed ourselves a freaking 3PT shooter?

Bullock is also 10x better on Defense than this absolute trash ass Evan Fournier scrub and Reggie Bullock was a big part of our NBA's #1 Defense last year.

We just got WORSE @ SF.

The good news is that he did that in just 42 games. In 2020 he made 173 in just 66 games.
Dougie Mac just got $42m for three and only made 111 in 66 games last year and 128 in 69 games in 19/20.....If we are judging based on 3pt makes.

The other good news is that Frank is guaranteed to be reunited with his countryman.

Ok cool.

So he made 173 3's in 2020? Cool. Because Reggie just made 163 3's last year and with 10x better Defense too.

So we just gave a bum $20M per season who only played 42 games last year and can't stay healthy and injured literally every freaking year?

This is the worst FA class I've ever WITNESSED and now in absolute SALARY CAP HELL for the next 3 years.

Wtf.

If we cut Knox we still have $15-17 million in cap room. Rose’s contract doesn’t count necessarily towards the cap thanks to Early Bird Rights

This year his contract is still garaunteed.

We have to trade Knox to a team that can absorb his contract. Meaning the deal would probably be Knox and a pick for a second round pick.
