The names thrown out all offseason just like years past were never realistic. What happen this offseason was always the reality.
Fournier’s skill set fits really really nice next to RJs skill set and can effectively lineup at either wing spot. So if we wanna use RJ to bully smaller guards we can do that with Fournier at the 3. If we wanna use RJ for 3&D for stretches we can do that as well. Burks and Fournier both can create offense or shoot. The trio is pretty solid at wing with 3 proven producers that can put up 20 any given night.
Overall it’s the same core minus Elf and Bullock but the upgrade from Bullock to Fournier. The missing piece to lock in playoffs is that floor general upgrade from Elf. But Randle, RJ, Fournier, Rose proved 4 locked 15+ a game scorers. With IQ & Burks able to come in and put something up themselves. If Mitch can finally take that step then that would be huge.
But the team needs to be able to string together winning seasons and show stability. After this next season if a stud becomes available Knicks still have draft picks and movable pieces to attempt to take another step. Fournier with 2 yrs and a TO is very movable. Noel and Burks with 2 yrs left on their deals would be very movable. Or if it’s IQ, Toppin, Mitch depending on circumstances and the player to be had.
