Hey...it was a tough game on the road. Some of the young guys made some mistakes down the stretch. I'm not dissapointed..actually mare impressed that this team competed with the top team in the west.

The nice thing to think about is the offense struggled down the stretch with the shooting not so good. Add Houston next month and that may not be an issue.

Yea im happy they got that close, but they were doing so well.. it takes a lot to drop a 50+% fg to the low 40s..

A lot of chances to tie to from what i could see through the updated boxscores and radio...

tim thomas needs to stop being a pansy or ariza will get more of his minutes.. leave sweetney in.. take nazr out..

I was so hopeful for a win when I saw the game progressing the way it was.. *sigh*.. till next time

some points. G's played just about as good as they will.

TT is what he is. He plays like an all star 1/4 games, he plays like a scrub 1/4 games and in between he is 14 and 5 with porous D

Sweetney needs to move towards the basket instead of fading away, but atleast he can do things.

Baker+ Nazr shouldnt command big minutes but they have to. Some games they will play well.

Overall we did some nice things, we play better D with Ariza in there. I would almost rather have Ariza play 35 minutes to get a consistent all around effort, but TT is still the better player--hopefully something clicks there

good effort, but IMHO we couldve won that game and we didnt

Look at wash to night AT Memphis--they had 7 PLAYERS out and they won.
No morale victories, we played well, but we didnt play well enough to win

good point briggs, but memphis is not the timberwolves and there is no one on memphis that even resembles KG and what he does, if the knicks played any other team tonight we probably win this game....

I wanted to see this game but it wasn't shown here where I live. Anyway. I wasn't at home for the game so I couldn't follow it with the net. I really hoped for us to pull out a surprise game to tell everyone to keep an eye on NY because they will surprise many people but sadly I saw we lost. Maybe it is because I didn't see the game, because reading your posts makes me think that NY had a real chance to win, but seeing that the game ended so close and that we played very well most of the night makes me feel really good about it. As a Knicks fan I wanted a win, but knowing that our team played so well against a very good team like the T-Wolves makes me feel pleased.

What a night for Marbury! He shot very well from the floor and had a double-double with 27-10. Its a good sign that he got a high number in assists. It looked like Craw had a nice game but has many stated, he has to work on that shot selection. Kurt had a very good game against such a difficult player to defend like KG. He had a lot of rebounds.

Ariza played 22 minutes!! And more importantly, he showed that he can change the game for us. At the beginning it was hype, but after some games Ariza is proving that he is for real and I really wonder if he will end up our starting SF at the end of the season. Who expected this rookie to play more than 20 minutes in the openner for the New York Knicks? TT may have more experience, but his inconsistency will drive him out of NY. And the best thing for NY would be to trade him for any kind of upgrade at the 5 because we need a lot of help. By now Isiah has to agree with the fact that Nazr can't be our starting C.

Thanks for posting your thoughts during the game because those who couldn't see it could get a great idea of what was happening. I feel fine about this start because NY showed a lot of promise of better things to come this season. Without that cold stretch at the end who knows what could've happened. Im pleased they played hard and had a chance to win. If we keep playing like this we will be in very good shape for the rest of the season. Now, we must play hard for the next game because we have to win it.

KNICKS!!!!! YEAH!!!!!

Favorite players so far in impact order:

Marbury
Crawford
K. Thomas
Ariza

Stats doesn't tell Ariza's story man. I think T.T is gonna be shipped out when Ariza develops. I was against T.T being shipped, but with Ariza, it's inevitable.

I would have to agree.....Timmy is a sometimey player....Trade him!!!

Ariza, Ariza, Ariza,.......You can't even use the word develop. Dude is NBA ready. Ariza is obviously getting better game by game....his jumper is getting more and more confidence.

Timmy is on my list to be traded. ASAP.....there is a league filled with disgruntled players and guys that are 6th men that shouldn't have to be. Trade him.....I don't care if he drops 30 in the opener.

About the game......I know I'm kind of late but after unleashing the mofo last night I got a headache and went to sleep. I was in rare form. My kids must think daddy was drunk last night. Nothing new during the NBA season.

I thought Nazr played like poopy. Jerome Williams played better and JYD barely played.

Line-up change! They gotta go with KT and Sweets at this point. I know this is game 1 out of 82 but Sweetney gets to the line and he had 7 foul shots in 18 minutes. JYD has to get off the bench a little sooner and just make Baker and Nazr fight for the little bit of minutes left.

Nazr, Baker and Timmy are in the dog house right now.....

Otherwise this was a winnable game just the way it was played. I dunno what the heck happened at the end but the Knicks proved they could give the T-Wolves a game. Aside from KG the T-Wolves ain't spit!

Go Knicks!!!

Game 1: The Marc Berman Spin

http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/31639.htm

Some times I don't know what agenda the writers have. Berman clearly is blaming Lenny for the loss...and it may be true but to not mention Tim Thomas and his performance in the whole article is just crazy. I think berman is campaigning for another coaching change already.

Lenny Wilkens showed that he is a good coach today. The only thing he did that I didn't like was he put Moochie in too early. That 2nd quarter cost us the game because Marbury was gettin' hot when he was subbed out. But the Knicks still have to perform and make quality plays because it is the players on the court not Lenny.

Lenny showed alot of faith and trust in his players. That was evident by him playing Ariza and Sweetney big minutes and him going back to T.T in the 4th. He also has the Knicks playing some good perimeter defense. The 3 pointers that the Timberwolves did hit were due to Jamal's and Ariza's early commitment to double team Garnett and noone in the league can stop Cassell's perimeter shots because he does it unexpectingly. If you are too aggressive guarding Cassell, you will get a foul called.

In closing, good job Lenny but don't have so much faith in Moochie next time.

When was the last time NYK fans were this juiced after a loss. If the Knicks do this the next game head are gonna roll.

TT was terrible, Penny sucked, Baker needs a drink and make one solid move in one possesion and not 100 as soon as he gets the ball. Nazr needs to be more offensive got pissed when he blew the layup on a fast break. I was thinking dunk and the he goes for a layup. If Baker and Nazr play like this its going to be a long season.

Crawford was good needs to get to the line though. Marbury was very good but you could see fatigue set in towards the end for that matter you could see a lot of players get fatigued out there. KT did what he does but failed to draw fouls on KG to perimeter oriented to draw fouls on opposing players. He got lucky KG missed some open looks or he would have dropped 35 points on him. I personally think his defense is overrated. Sweetney was good in his limited time out there drew fouls got to the line and attacked the boards. Ariza was a surprise the man makes thing happen when he is on the court an athletic freak.

yes, I don't like that when writers use their influence like that. What the heck did Lenny Wilkens do wrong? Does anyone remember KG's last shot of the night? He was double-teamed on the baseline and just spun out and layed it in. KG is a one of a kind player-there is NO match up for KG--the guy was MVP last year and has been 1-2-3 in the voting the last 4. You CANNOT stop Tim Duncan KG Shaq or Kobe, they are going to get theirs and you have to live with it. I thought he did a good job dipersing minutes--keeping marbury fresh--going with line-ups that caused the best defensive pressure. We just ran out of offensive gas in the 4th period.
I don't think I see anything in that game that surprised me. I think it is fair to say that we are smallish upfront and Nazr is not really starting material. Tim Thomas will play great some games and he will do this sometimes and everything else in the middle. If we are playing moochie norris, we are short a PG. We showed very nice offensive skill at many points. Kt rebounded the ball and played within himself. Marbury was fresh and sensational. Crawford is what he is, and lets hope he can play close to what he gave tonight every night.

I will say one thing, it's not good enough to say that if we play this way, we will win 90 games. A good or very good team plays to win. Of course you are not going to win every game, but dont take positives from a loss. correct the breakdowns and win the nxt game.
