Spike using the employee entrance is good for business. You give special perks to the high paying customers. I mean Checketts probably gave him that perk that doesn't hurt anybody. Taking that away because Spike speaks his mind about his beloved team is just juvenile.

However, Spike ranting about it doesn't help any. I am not sure how else he could have handled this but I don't think this was the way.

Dolan is just an ass.

Kellerman is just an *******. He makes Screamin A tolerable now.

I used to think this. But what if the PR staff is trying to do its job and the boss just isn't listening? At the same time, you'd think they could find a way to craft that statement better. The more I think about it, the more I'm sure this probably wasn't vetted by a professional before it was released. I think Dolan heard about the interview, got triggered and rambled off a statement from his secretary. With security and health concerns escalated now, it really isn't surprising that their would be a change. Did Spike really not know? Is Dolan making it up? Who knows? But this has become a bigger issue than it should be. Now I have to hear clueless rants from people who know nothing about the Knicks and probably wouldn't be able to spot Spike in a crowd without a Knicks hat.

This!!! That PR statement was totally unprofessional and there is no way a trained PR staffer would or should allow such a statement to be released. Spike overreacted, but Dolans PR move makes him and this franchise look terrible.

Just when you think rhis franchise may take a step forward, we take two giant steps backwards...Hey Leon! Welcome to the circus

Dolan actually wins this one. Good bye clown Spike no one cares about you.

Agreed tha Spike overreacted and running to espn was a bad move on his part...but no way does Dolan win. He made himself look worse with that unprofessional PR statement!

As much as I dislike Dolan Spike is just being ridiculous. Never been a fan of Spike anyway so him not going to games anymore is actually pretty good news for me lol

If you're a fan why would you spoil Leon Rose's night and the great team victory with your hurt-ego whining?

just when you think it cant get any lower. anyway, I agree that both are at fault but I blame the knicks more. this was a prime opportunity to rise above the pettiness and show fans you care about them, which they have neglected to do especially the last few years. however they decide to play the blame game like they always do. listen, spike was wrong not complying and saying slavery rhetoric which to be honest it is spike being spike ( still a fan though). despite that, spike embodies the typical knick fan who stuck through this team through thick and thin. like us, he has been critical and it seems the knick brass do not like that ( which is why they ushered the crowd out last night when they started chanting again. they better get used to that). for him to ban going to games is almost unbelievable since he was a staple in MSG for 30 years. lakers wouldn't do that to Nicholson so why are the knicks doing this? they just don't care and they try to save face but looks worse doing so.

Dude this TOPIC has made every sports show on television, even some local news channels, sports radio, and every forum on the internet, so apparently people do care.

Every NBA fan on the planet Knows SPIKE LEE is the Knicks #1 super fan and has supported the team in some of it's darkest days..Nobody with any sense would look at spike as a DIVA or a celeb starving for ATTn...

Dolan's team hiring a bunch of Goons to do security is the problem

Again, if you are really a super fan (and not just about the attention) then why shine the spotlight on yourself after Knicks president's first game and very good win with all the kids playing a part? Why would you make yourself the story on a night like that? Just think about that a little bit.

His tirade and egocentric victim build will keep him from being courtside on 3/21 when we honor the 50th anniversary of the 1970 team. That is sad on many levels.

Lol. I always thought his seats were comped. He was considered NY Knicks #1 fan and he could not negotiate ONE comped seat? He can't be that smart.

Btw, his seats are not that good. He does not get a nice view of the back of the back board like I do.

Spike Lee in his growing irrelevance had a somewhat ok rep. People had begun to forget about his costing us a playoff game. But now Spike Lee's rep takes a huge hit. He is being used by the bristol mafia on ESPN ( a new england biased network ) to cash in on Knicks clicks. He is a tool for clicks right now. Spike Lee gains nothing from this. Dolan gains nothing but he already was a nothing.

Spike Lee comes out of this worse off.

A couple of spoiled kids having **** fits. What sucks for us Knicks fans is that one of them is responsible for making all the major decisions for the franchise.

Spike overreacted.
The Knicks addressing it on PR statement did not help.
Just ignore it.

Dolan is so strange

he goes to all the games, and yet last year when he was on michael kay show he needed to read mitchell robinson's name off his prepared notes.

how do you own the team and go to all the game and you're not able to name players without notes?

Why would MSG lie..

If the knicks wanted to make Leon Rose the topic, they would have had a legit press conference instead of hiding behind PR statement/memo, so you can't be questioned.

What does spike gain from the ATTN?

Dolan and MSG already have the worse image among NBA teams, and most franchises in all of sports (accept for the Astro's)

Does all of espn’s coverage of this mean it’s now okay for big fans of espn who have subscribed for years to use their employee’s entrance without challenge?

I don't understand you post. I'm talking about Spike. If i was him i wouldn't say a thing. If he really wants to boycott then boycott without going on ESPN to talk trash! Be a man about it don't go crying afterwards!

But if you're gonna go on ESPN as a Knicks ambassador then talk about the great win and how Frank played and how RJ played!

We beat a good team, exposed small ball, and the kids played great. That, and the fact it was Leon Rose's first game.... THAT WAS THE STORY.... instead SPIKE OVERSHADOWED ALL OF IT.

IMO Spike gave up his Knick super-fan badge.

So many people were turned off by this

The Knicks drew their smallest home crowd in nearly 13½ years Wednesday night, falling more than 3,200 below capacity in a 112-104 loss to the Utah Jazz

Blame poor play, anger over Lee's altercation or coronavirus concerns, but fans hadn't stayed away from Madison Square Garden in such large numbers since Dec. 13, 2006 -- more than 500 regular-season games ago -- when the Knicks drew 15,895 for a victory over Atlanta early in Isiah Thomas' first season as coach.

people are getting fed up, not only your losing at an alarming rate, you are driving your die hards away as well with these BS shenanigans..

Spike is a part of the very culture Knicks are.
Basketball Celebrity Circus.
Less of this celebs are around the team the better we will be.
Organization can be a bunch of clowns or a group of basketball professionals.
There is no combining this.
