Summer League isn't that the league where everyone runs around like chickens with their head cut off. It's like a continuation of combines.

Non of us know what Frank will become as he matures. Rose was an athletic freak who played PG due to his size. Smith seems a lot smoother & more in control. He comes off more like Lowry with hops then Rose with a jumper. https://vote.nba.com/en Vote for your Knicks.

Regardless, the whole point is, you want to watch this kid play. He's special. He puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the other teams guards and will draw fouls. In addition to being able to shoot, he can really pass the ball.
Frank maybe good, but probably a couple years behind in his development. Which is why it's important to establish the Knicks as a destination again. KP will probably grow tired of losing and we have to strike while we have players on their rookie contracts. Because once those are up we lose all flexibility to add talent. Especially when we are giving 44MM of our cap to a broken down Noah and unproven THJR. |

Anthony Randolph who we passed over to draft Gallinari. Summer league 08. The board was pissed.

MS wrote:...Frank maybe good, but probably a couple years behind in his development... Frank played against higher level competition than DSjr, so not so sure on that development point. Not really fair to claim we made a mistake when our kid hasn't even suited up yet, and we're reading summer league tea leaves like there is something to actually discern... The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

I think he is a Lillard/Lowry hybrid but comes in more advance at his age than either of them at 19. Who knows if Smith Jr will ever mature and grow into either of those players but the talent is there. |

SL MVP who averaged 29PPG. EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Smith Might be the ROY.
Usually it takes how many YEARS to see a player develop? 3-5 to get a solid handle? Or, a weeks of summer league? We may regreat passing on DSJ. Regret is something every team can have in hindsight. |

Hoping he proves me wrong. Just think many teams made a mistake by passing on this kid as he was #1 in this class, at one point. Think he was a #2 pick that fell into our laps. And we decided to pick a guy to better fit an offense that is no longer here. But again, I hope I get proved wrong. Smith would have been a bad pairing with KP and Willy. We needed a PG that will set them up. Dennis is in the Rose/Stevie Franchise mold...Janis would have gone ape ****.
