Things got much worse after that. Is there anyone that didn't recognize Amare as Walsh's desperate attempt to do something after trading the Knicks lottery pick, players and draft picks to be a player in free agency. Selling future cap space to hide his failures was a huge mistake Walsh made.

there were a couple of offseason that all everyone did was go gaga about how great Amare looked and how in shape he was and how great he sounded to the media and yadayadayada.

This offseason PR means nothing. Maybe is a doctor came out and measured his lateral quickness between years and said that this offseason its 3 times more explosive which should greatly enhance his defense, that would be an interesting take.

The greatest thing about the offseason is that hope is not killed yet with losses. WE ARE UNDEFEATED!!

I don't know what thread this post was a part of but I do know that at least I had the BALLS to post my predictions going back to 07 in another thread and I think it's easy to post something someone said in an effort to embarrass them since we all post so many things over the years and NO ONE is perfect. I clearly am not embarrassed as I POSTED A LIST OF MY OWN PREDICTIONS over the years. I didn't post everyone else's predictions or dig to find something embarrassing from you. It's not necessary to do that to argue my point in this thread. You however, seem to think this is a good way to make your point, which is fine for you, but i'll just continue to make my points without resorting to this tactic.

He's got a point, man. You consistently misinterpret possibilities being probabilities, which leads to your predictions being wildly off e.g. the Knicks being title contenders with a broken down Amar'e and Toney Douglas running the show.

That being said, it is POSSIBLE Rose and Noah make it through the season healthy but far from PROBABLE. It is POSSIBLE Rose and Noah return to form but not PROBABLE; much in the same way that it was the case for Antonio McDyess, Steve Francis, Andrea Bargnani, Tracy McGrady and the slew of former stars that we gambled on and lost big.

Amare is fair... but of the guys you mentioned were any as young as Rose? Or as good as he was to end last season?

McDyess was 27, McGrady 30 going on 31, Francis was 29 and Bargnani was about 27/28. And all of these guys, aside from Bargnani, showed glimpses before becoming a Knick. They ended up tail-diving when they put on our uniform though....and I'd argue that none of those guys had as severe an injury history as Rose. I'd also argue that McDyess and McGrady demonstrated an actual skillset....I'm still trying to figure out what Rose's is besides once being uberly athletic.

Rose was still an elite penetrating PG even last year in one of his worst seasons. Rose was still a decent PnR PG and I think with the talent around him he should be even better. Melo and KP finishing your PnR passes is pretty good. Having Lee to kick out to is also pretty good. Having Noah passing you the ball off cuts is also pretty good. That's how this works!!!

Well Rose is a Pace Pusher, Early Offense, Halfcourt Breakdown Penetrator, PnR, Dribble handoff cut to the basket Guard. He hasn't lost that ability. If his shot is on like at the end of the year he will be a beast for this team. How can teams pay complete attention to him and also Melo, KP, Lee and Noah? I think people are totally underestimating how all these parts will work together in Hornacek's offensive schemes.

I think Rose is really a complimentary player now. He will never be close to what he was...that's just the reality of the situation.

I guess we will find out. However after so many injuries its tough to see him lasting the season. Thankfully this is just a one year thing anyway

It will be very interesting to see how the Knicks proceed if he has a good season and stays healthy. With only one other point guard on the roster and Sasha they must be counting on it.

If his shot is on like at the end of the year he will be a beast for this team. How can teams pay complete attention to him and also Melo, KP, Lee and Noah? I think people are totally underestimating how all these parts will work together in Hornacek's offensive schemes.

Rose was still an elite penetrating PG even last year in one of his worst seasons. Rose was still a decent PnR PG and I think with the talent around him he should be even better. Melo and KP finishing your PnR passes is pretty good. Having Lee to kick out to is also pretty good. Having Noah passing you the ball off cuts is also pretty good. That's how this works!!!

I think Rose is really a complimentary player now. He will never be close to what he was...that's just the reality of the situation.

He doesn't have to be great the entire season, but what if he has a stretch late in the year like he did this season?

After averaging 21.9 points, 6.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds throughout February, Rose has continued to play well via efficiency through March. In the “Shooting” tab within the visualization, you can see Rose was particularly dead-on from beyond the arc. He drained 40.5 percent of his attempts from distance in 15 games — significantly better than his career mark of just 30.4 percent from three-point territory.

neds friend is not the problem, its the ones who get excited and let reports like this mean something to them. Again, Amare was the most in shape and exciting off season exciter in knicks history.

Except Amare had a timeline on his knee. When was Amare's offseason exciting? All I remember is the special shorts he wore to keep his posture right after he hurt his back. Things got much worse after that. Is there anyone that didn't recognize Amare as Walsh's desperate attempt to do something after trading the Knicks lottery pick, players and draft picks to be a player in free agency. Selling future cap space to hide his failures was a huge mistake Walsh made.

there were a couple of offseason that all everyone did was go gaga about how great Amare looked and how in shape he was and how great he sounded to the media and yadayadayada.

This offseason PR means nothing. Maybe is a doctor came out and measured his lateral quickness between years and said that this offseason its 3 times more explosive which should greatly enhance his defense, that would be an interesting take.

The greatest thing about the offseason is that hope is not killed yet with losses. WE ARE UNDEFEATED!!

I don't know what thread this post was a part of but I do know that at least I had the BALLS to post my predictions going back to 07 in another thread and I think it's easy to post something someone said in an effort to embarrass them since we all post so many things over the years and NO ONE is perfect. I clearly am not embarrassed as I POSTED A LIST OF MY OWN PREDICTIONS over the years. I didn't post everyone else's predictions or dig to find something embarrassing from you. It's not necessary to do that to argue my point in this thread. You however, seem to think this is a good way to make your point, which is fine for you, but i'll just continue to make my points without resorting to this tactic.

He's got a point, man. You consistently misinterpret possibilities being probabilities, which leads to your predictions being wildly off e.g. the Knicks being title contenders with a broken down Amar'e and Toney Douglas running the show.

That being said, it is POSSIBLE Rose and Noah make it through the season healthy but far from PROBABLE. It is POSSIBLE Rose and Noah return to form but not PROBABLE; much in the same way that it was the case for Antonio McDyess, Steve Francis, Andrea Bargnani, Tracy McGrady and the slew of former stars that we gambled on and lost big.

Amare is fair... but of the guys you mentioned were any as young as Rose? Or as good as he was to end last season?

McDyess was 27, McGrady 30 going on 31, Francis was 29 and Bargnani was about 27/28. And all of these guys, aside from Bargnani, showed glimpses before becoming a Knick. They ended up tail-diving when they put on our uniform though....and I'd argue that none of those guys had as severe an injury history as Rose. I'd also argue that McDyess and McGrady demonstrated an actual skillset....I'm still trying to figure out what Rose's is besides once being uberly athletic.

Well Rose is a Pace Pusher, Early Offense, Halfcourt Breakdown Penetrator, PnR, Dribble handoff cut to the basket Guard. He hasn't lost that ability. I guess we will find out. However after so many injuries its tough to see him lasting the season. Thankfully this is just a one year thing anyway

It will be very interesting to see how the Knicks proceed if he has a good season and stays healthy. With only one other point guard on the roster and Sasha they must be counting on it.

I wouldn't commit to him long term...too risky. I admit I wasn't a big fan of the trade but I'm willing to give it a chance for 1 season. Next year with 3 draft picks and free agency I think we will get another point guard.

I didn't listen to the entire podcast yet but Duncan said he liked the Rose trade. Dubin hated it and seems pretty disgusted with Rose and his legal troubles. I don't think the Knicks trade Rolo and Grant if they weren't going to at least consider keeping Rose. The need to keep Rose if he puts together a healthy productive season probably increased with Westbrook signing in OKC. I do think a CP3/KP tandem could be amazing but Paul is getting older.

This is exactly the nightmare scenario that I am scared of. He has a decent season and we give him a salbatross.

It would depend on just how good of a season he has and even then there's a ceiling. Rose isn't just going to magically have lots of options out there. The Bulls couldn't find lots of trade partners for Rose. Even if he has a relatively great season the fear of his health will remain. So it may not mean Phil will be forced into offering a ridiculous contract. This may be the only realistic place for Rose even with a good season.

I actually would be highly disappointed in only 35 wins or anything less than .500 to be honest. This much talent needs to have a winning record. You don't spend this much just to get into the Lottery again.

I think this team has too much talent and pride to accept a losing record. The Bulls last season with less talent and only a few decent months from Rose managed to win 42 games!!! It should be possible for this team to put up a winning record.

That injury rationale bothers me tho. First of all you just can't know what will happen in that dept. No team can predict good health. I prefer to lower that factor in making an assessment. The Knicks medical staff has looked at Rose and Noah and if there was something that suggested they were in a really bad condition, they would've see it. Instead the reports i've read suggest they were in relatively good condition. At their ages and injury history there will always be some issues that crop up. None of these guys is going to play a full 82. Still that doesn't mean that we're gonna lose games because these guys are seriously hurt and miss a ton of games.

If anything I think having so much talent in the top of the rotation will make the game easier for everyone. No one should have to force things. Shots should come easier.

I thought the Podcast was a bit too snarky. There were good points but also they seemed to undersell much of the roster improvement which IMO makes no sense. As Fishmike said, how reasonable is it to think that there will be practically no positive impact of adding Rose, Noah, Lee and Jennings into this rotation? This top 7 rotation is SOLID AS HELL. Yet when talking about the Knicks they tend to assess each player in a vacuum. That's not how Basketball works. This is a team sport and it does matter who a player is on the floor with and how the group works together. This roster looks like it makes all kinds of sense together. Most importantly is how they all come together under Hornacek's schemes.

I think the roster and team has improved. 32 wins to about 42 wins in my opinion. that's a 10% increase. but im not expecting a championship any time soon

you mean a 10-win increase, which i believe translates to a 31% increase.

"no team can predict good health" does not have any equivalence to "teams with players having a pattern of injury"

this is another example of flawed thinking.

What should help them is a good program and not having to push beyond their limits trying to win games. No one should have to overdo it on this team. There's enough talent to spread the load.
