Thunder have to get on trading Westbrook before they lose him for nothing.

I think so. The guy is always tough on the press but he seemed to live in a bubble. The gloves are off now. LeBron got killed for it and he left Cleveland. Cleveland got the #1 pick the first year after Lebron. They went from 61 wins to 19. I think OKC makes the playoffs next year.

He was referring to the hoping they get injured part.

And you're correct. Durant needs to brace himself for the villain role but, like Lebron, once he wins everything will gradually turn back to positive.

I don't think they make the playoffs - they didn't the year KD was injured and Westbrook was running the show. And they have an abundance of undersized SG in Olidipo, and Dion, and AR.

No SF also. They needed to make a run at HB...

Makes Westbrook more of a possibility next year...no?

I have a feeling that Westbrook already told him that he wasn't fully set on coming back after next year for KD to make this choice.

Interesting thought.

Watch us trade KP & Rose for Westbrook.

Nothing would surprise me at this point, but I do believe we have an outside chance at Westbrook in free agency now. If the Knicks can show that they can win with Rose putting up middle of the road numbers, Westbrook could see the team contending with him plugged in at PG. I dont know how much cap room would be left to sign other players after Westbrook though. The bench needs to be deeper.

I don't know. KD was loved by everyone. It didn't seem to matter what he said, that he was pictured smoking a hookah etc. I don't know that LeBron was ever loved like that. He was in Cleveland but KD had something. Maybe kissing his mom after games etc was part of it. I don't think he ever gets back there with the fans.

he wished he would get injured which is messed up. All the guy did was make a decision that was best for him

nothing about these moves leads me to believe we'd wait until next summer. It's win now and burn trying.

How much you want to bet the OKC front office just called Phil to see if he'd be open to that kind of trade?

I support the fact he can do what he wants, but as Michael Kay would say, "It's a really bad optic". GS may win but Durant is gonna be number 2 behind Steph there. Stheph is the homegrown talent and Durant is the import. This reminds me when the Yankees had Jeter and brought in Rodriguez.

Dirant just put alot of pressure on himself because the Warriors now HAVE to win 74 games and a title otherwise he is going to be firmly in the crosshairs of "What the hell happened?" And in all honesty, i dont think dude is hard enough to handle that.

I think Lebron joining the Heat pushed KD to that level of admiration. People wanted to hail him as the anti Lebron "good guy" especially that year they played the Thunder in the finals. Lebron was loved before, hated for leaving, and is now being loved again after winning in Cleveland (especially with the performance he put on). Ironically, KD's decision might actually help Lebron get that admiration back faster.

In all fairness he did say it was going to be a strictly a basketball decision. GS gives him the best chance to win.

I agree that it does seem weak to go to GS. I also agree that GS choking in the finals mitigates him going there somewhat. Still not a great look. I heard the Clips made a hell of a presentation, but they seem very dysfunctional from afar.

Durant is going to hear it his first time in OKC, wow. And he drops the news on fans on July 4th. Yikes.

That first game back for LeBron was brutal.

I don't think this is the guaranteed slam dunk that it will be portrayed as- that Warriors team was near perfect, now they will lose a lot of their role players and their teams character will change.

I would hope that a one year deal for Westbrook would scare him off. I would hope that Phil would see the logic of trying to get both of them on the team instead of a gamble like that. Its not so far fetched now.
