Sometimes it's hard to get back once you blow it up. Takes luck in FA and luck in the draft. We got some luck in the draft this year for the first time in years. Maybe we get some real luck in FA this off-season? Maybe Wroten pans out?
Who knows.
We have heard this before let Phil do his job. Melo need not recruit because players really don't want to play with him.
Rebuilding is hard but the Knicks never have been really back so drop off will be status quo. Melo is not a superstar he is a good player. People need to stop throwing superstar around on good players. Another factor what player would want to play with a player that can't make it through 82 games. Hasn't anyone noticed that the Knicks have been down hill after Melo sat out that game after stepping on the ref. He was good enough to sit on the bench and bark at his teammates and give his advice. He should have been out there and playing showing his teammates how badly he wants to win a Willis Reed moment that he passed on.
The Knicks need Melo to waive his NTC not recruit.
Can you base the bold on anything tangible, logical or that can be quantified???When was the last time the Knicks signed FAs as good as Tyson, Lopez or Afflalo?
That is Phil doing his job not Melo recruiting. So far Melo has a nothing to show. When do players come here saying they came because of Melo.
So Chandler and Lopez dont count because they didnt say "I signed because of Melo" ????? Seriously man. So when nobody signs its Melo's fault and when someone does sign its the GM doing their job. Do I have it right?
You got it right Fish. It's Melo's fault he wants to be alpha dog he isn't ready to relinquish that so what does he try and bring not Durant but Rajon F'ing Rando.
Maybe Melo knows there's no chance in hell Durant would come here.
Where the heck on the floor would Durant fit here?
His coming here would cause so many more problems than it solved. Also, it wouldn't get Durant anywhere near a championship.
So you're mad at Melo for being realistic? I apologize if your post was meant to be sarcastic! Because then it was pretty funny!
He should be realistic and not say anything. Because he is gonna look like a fool when no one worth while comes here. This guy acts like he has pull he has none. The reason AA came here is because no one was offering him a better deal than Phil. Lopez was a contingency plan for Aldridge and Monroe.
Thank god we got Lopez over Monroe. Afflalo was signed by the Knicks on the first or second day of Free Agency, he wanted to come here and didn't talk to any other team. How do you know he couldn't have gotten more elsewhere.
I guess Melo might look a fool if they can't get anyone, I guess you might look like one if they do?
I might look the fool and it's ok but you don't even want the problem of having Durant on the team in a hypothetical situation. We are six year into this and I'm still waiting for Melo to deliver the Knicks a star side kick.
Why is it Melo's responsibility to deliver the star side kick again? Also, Porzingis might be the side kick. He's hit the rookie wall now, but next season he'll be back and better.
It's not that I don't want Durant on the team in a hypothetical situation. It's just that it is so far from the realm of possibilities that I don't think it's worth considering it for all that long. And I certainly don't think it's worth slamming Melo for not bringing Durant here. I don't think Durant is leaving OKC, but if he does, he's going somewhere that will be ready to win a championship the second they add Durant. That does not seem to be the case here.
It's not his responsibility thats what I am say. I'm say don't say anything he wants to recruit so does he want some degree of responsibility. Let Phil do his job Melo needs to be a basketball player and not a recruiter. He needs to realize he isn't all that he trying to talk like he is in the conversation of the superstars and thinks he can ask players to come play with him. He isn't LeBron, Curry, Duncan he doesn't have that power of a Larry Bird, Majic Johnson or Jordan where people want to play with them. I don't think Melo realizes that he doesn't pave a path to the championship.
Melo has ZERO path to the Championship with the Knicks. With Miami, he may have like a 1% chance. With LA as a 2nd fiddle or 3rd fiddle he would have like maybe 10% chance with his buddy CP3. With Cleveland, he'd have his greatest chance at a ring as a super sub and ride Lebron's coattails.
Either way, it's simply not happening in New York, no matter which 2nd or 3rd tier free agent signs here. We're not landing Durant in 2016 and we're not landing Westbrook in 2017. His only way to come close to a ring for him is to leech his way onto a contender and be Olympic Melo, sixth man.
