I'm starting to wonder a little about Wroten's injury--why he hasn't played anywhere, why the Knicks, though interested for a couple of months now, haven't made a move on him. Per Wikipedia, here's his chronology from the injury up to getting cut by Sixers (I had to look up, wasn't sure):
On January 23, 2015, he was ruled out for the rest of the 2014–15 season after undergoing surgery on a partially torn ACL in his right knee. He was averaging career-highs in points (16.9), assists (5.2) and steals (1.6) prior to the injury.
On November 11, 2015, Wroten was assigned to the Delaware 87ers of the NBA Development League, sent there to practice as part of his return to play protocol. He was recalled by the 76ers on December 4, using the month-long stint to rehabilitate his ACL tear. He did not appear in a game for Delaware. The following day, he returned to action for the 76ers, playing in his first game for the team since injuring his right knee on January 13. He had four points in 13 minutes against the Denver Nuggets. On December 24, 2015, Wroten was waived by the 76ers.
Ok, so assigned to the DL (11/11/15 - 12/4/15) about 10 months post-surgery and never got in a game. Made it back to the NBA 12/5/15, put up poor numbers in about 11 games before being cut. Hasn't played anywhere since. I'm not even sure we worked him out--only heard "we had interest" going back 2 months now and we "meet with him recently." That's it. Strange... I mean what's up with this dude? Can he still play or what? Looks like Philly didn't think so--they cut him to add Ish Smith. Why didn't he get at least a couple of DL games under his belt before being recalled? Why no DL assignment since to prove to everyone he can still play at a competitive level? I dunno, man. Comes off like he's hiding something, no? May not be the same player. This might be what the hold up with the Knicks is all about.
Gonna try to take a look at some video of the games he did play for Philly this season before being cut to get a feel for what he can still do.
