O'Quinn fits in the Triangle well.
He had some nice moments with the 2nd unit - early on.
Hasn't gotten much consistent PT in the last month.
He's on a 3 year deal, is 25, and should be given priority in playing time ahead of Amudson and Seraphin.
Derrick Williams has played really well so he's been given all the backup PF minutes as of late, but last night you even saw Amudson at PF and Seraphin at C. These guys won't likely be with the team next year.
From a development standpoint, Fish should be playing O'Quinn/Williams/Galloway/Grant over Seraphin/Amudson/Vujacic. That's not to say I have anything against the latter 3, I like them especially as teammates. But guys like O'Quinn can improve and be with the Knicks next year while the others will go to the highest bidder or likely won't be back. We got to develop the longterm here. O'Quinn fits in with Porzingis, or Lopez. He fits in a small ball lineup with DWill as well. He's a keeper. Seraphin and Amudson are not guys worth giving playing time to at this point unless it's a blow out.
This would be my rotation:
Lopez/Porzingis/O'Quinn (No need to give O'Quinn any PT unless Porzingis is in foul trouble)
Porzingis/Williams/Melo (You slide Melo to 4 when Thomas is playing really well)
Melo/Thomas/Afflalo (Afflalo comes up to 3 when Galloway is playing well or when Thomas is unavailable)
Afflalo/Galloway (Trust Galloway to be your main backup 2)
Calderon/Grant/Galloway (Gallo slides to 1 if Grant is stinking up the place, but Grant has shown he can play in spurts).
With the Thomas injury, you slide Afflalo to 3, you play Gallo at 2 more and you trust the rotation that was working. Instead we've seen Fisher bring in Sasha, use Amudson and Seraphin. He's not giving guys enough rhythm.
There's no question Phil Jackson needs to give Fisher another guard or wing player that ease the reliance on Afflalo, and allow Galloway to be a backup 1, so he doesn't have to rely on Grant or Sasha for big minutes. I do understand the roster's limitations. I do not think Fisher gives enough consistent rhythm to some of his front court guys. Too much time on the pine for Lopez or Porzingis even when they play well. He's got a big advantage with his front court, and can't be giving teams chances with sitting Lopez, Porzingis, Anthony all at the same time, which he often does do. This deep into the season without a major injury and to still be playing 11th/12th men types is really weird for a NBA head coach.
