He's a great passer for a big man and he proved it on that superb Kentucky team but KP is more of a facilitator for the Knicks because that's what we need. We need him to make plays for other ls especially Melo. Towns has Wiggins. Nowhere near as good as Melo yet so Towns needs to carry the load more offensively than KP

No, I meant KP is NOT a facilitator for the Knicks.

i have seen towns play in college a couple of games only but what little i did see of him he definitely possesses passing skills and court vision. however, just looking at his numbers alone it appears that they need him more as a scorer than a facilitator. his usage is 24.3 but his assist rate is 5.6. porzingis is 25 and 4, which indicates a scorer finisher type of role. that said, kp has also shown good passing skills and court vision.

defensively towns was the best defender in the draft along with cauly-stein, and who could have known that kp would be as a good a defender as he clearly is? he's so tall AND athletic i think his upside as a defender is very very high. i mean in the same breath as kg and ad.

until i see towns play i can't say who is better right now, but no question the knicks would have chosen towns if they had that choice.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Couldn't be objective at this point. KP looks like the best pick since Ewing for the Knicks.
I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18

All I can say is I am glad we got who we got. I love KP's game. Phil did what a good GM is supposed to do. He picked the best player with our pick, and there is no question, KP was the best available player at our pick. Even if Towns has a better career, I will be happy with KP.

And we all thought the Knicks were unlucky in falling to pick 4. It turns out that was the best thing that could have happened, because KP is looking a lot better than Russell or Okafor.

Trust the Process

I love KP and maybe 5 years from now he may be better. Towns is the consensus #1 both then and now. Our guy is outperforming the 4 pick, but not KAT. We can speculate whether if their cities were reversed, how the stats etc would change, but I think KAT is front runner for RoY and a likely first time all star. KP is intriguing in his flashes of awesome, but altogether forgettable on other nights, like last night. I love that he is ours and that we get to watch him grow. But any argument for KP is about what he might become, while KAT is tearing it up right now.
You know I gonna spin wit it

Still a tough choice, both are beasts. Porzingis has the biggest upside and better shooting range

Just don't feel you can say this at this point, but that's just one old man's opinion, and it's really hard for me to get up the energy to argue against KP after a game like this one.

I'm just not that concerned with comparisons at this time. If this team wins, he will be a key, and will get recognized one way or another.

Just happy that we have him at this time and the team is winning, in large part because of him.

Towns cannot defend 1 through 5 and reject guys like James Harden 2 or 3 times.

It's really not close, even if Towns won ROY. KP game projects to a better career.

Hey...I love the guy, and you could be right, but sometimes I actually feel like I'm jinxing the him if I'm too exuberant.

You are going to notice that the more you guys praise him, the more rational and subdued I will be when talking about him, and even more critical of him if I see him playing foolishly.

Was more defensive about him pre and post draft. Once I reached my own conclusion that he was the real deal I calmed down. Now I'm seeing that he really does have franchise player potential, which is all the more amazing because I never believed he would come on like this so soon.

I think the only real argument now will be about his franchise player potential- all the crap we talked about when we did not know what we really had in KP sounds like pure nonsense now, and is almost laughable to go back and read.

KP does have better lateral movement, surprisingly, but then again Towns has those size 20 dogs he has to shuffle around. Kristaps got beat and recovered well a number of times tonight.

I do feel that Towns looks quicker than he did in college. He is also a very good shot blocker...more of the one handed type.

Both of these guys are special.

I also continue to believe that this will be one of the better drafts we have seen in a long time, but only time will tell.

It's still close to me. Towns' season #s are a little better than KP's but they both may be franchise players. In Bonn fantasy land, we would have gotten the #1 pick, taken Towns, and then traded Melo and Galloway for the #4 pick and taken KP too.
