AND i like fisher as a coach a whole bunch but you CANNOT have calderon out there guarding a slasher like lin-- EVER. lets hope he learns from this and sics galloway on the lins of the world.
melo was hot tonight which is fine-- i guess-- but i'd rather he work the ball as part of a balance between process and results.
stat of the night: porzingis 0 free throw attempts. what's up with that? can we run some plays for this precocious neophyte? also, no free throws and a ****-ton of threes. is this what we want from an ostensible triangle-centric team?
also merely 6 fast break points. this is a definite pattern this season for this team directly traceable to poor or ineffectual perimeter defense. translation: switch galloway and calderon!!!
I disagree, I thought it was a good loss.
I thought Jose played great. Also, most PG cannot keep other PG's in front of them. In fact, Lin's shot was a bit of the circus nature. Kemba played badly, does Jose get some props there?
Teaching moment on defense was a hard one to swallow as they bit for the fake and sprung zeller free. Is that Coaching or execution? I'd say execution. It was great play.
Too bad you did not see the first quarter as there was things of beauty to behold. Guys were getting easy shots and nailing them. Its the NBA and Charlotte is not a bad team at all. WE won a close game in Toronto and fell short this time.
We can focus on the negative which is ok, but as a fan this team is further along than I would have expected. KP is way ahead of what I was thinking!
we saw Affalo and Jose together and it looked darn good!
We saw some glimpse of Melo get hot in the second half.
RoPez I thought played well and KP had some great Moments.........Kp will be inconsistent as are many rookies. Dude was pulling rebounds all nite! Dude was plucking them over others as if he was playing alone at that altitiude.
Im not in dispute over the negative, it was there. But im just adding balance to some good things I saw and perhaps why a culture with patience that stuck with Jose is not so terrible. Fans wanted him benched and maybe the coaches were running out of patience.
+1
Last year, we aren't even in this game, and Kemba would be killing us, not sitting on the bench for the fourth quarter watching JesusLin throw prayers at the basket and watch them fall through. His circus shots are what caused Rolo to overcover on the game winner.
So we stole one thanks to the refs in Toronto, and they took this one back from us last night. The clock settings and the deranged calls for legally fighting through screens were puzzling even to the ESPN radio commentators.
I really do enjoy the Melohate that bases everything on the bad play at the end, and makes little or no mention of Melo keeping us in the game all night. Yes, listening to him lose the handle and bank one off the side of the backboard is painful, but with the disappearance of DWill (whether it's Fish's fault or not) leaves us with one consistent scoring option. Hopefully Affalo can build on this game and we get to see the product Phil actually envisioned and paid for.
Nobody plays good defense against Melo, he only misses because he is over paid, over weight, over publicized and over utilized!
Last play I think he could not draw a double and he went to the corner. Part of not playing is getting rusty shot but the instincts are not there.
This guy needs to play into his game then start to see the court in the "Triangle Vision" to seek who is open. Any good offense is about options. Iso players, and Melo is top iso player in the league look to shoot first. Even the great Black Mamba career wise hit on only 33% game winning shots. KP almost started batting 1 for 1!!!!!
Regarding Melo, Seems like he is making progress as is the team as a whole.
Better options elsewhere. KP was perfect from mid to close range in the 1st, then they strayed away before he went ice cold.
Afflalo was hitting at a near 50% clip from the field.
Galloway has been a 62% 3pt shooter this season and overall clutch player.
Melo is not a top ISO player, he just gets used like one. Curry or Harden or Durant or Westbrook are top ISO players.
Melo isn't clutch either. Hasn't hit a game winner probably since the 1st year with the Knicks.
Just a terrible play call with no option to pass.
Only you could villify a player that shoots near 50% from the field and from 3 for the game, while saying everyone and anyone else is a better option.
You are by far the dumbest Melohater on the board.
