If you don't win you better make sure that NY thinks that you did everything that you can to try.

Again, not a bad guy at all just does not really get it sometimes.

Ewing was all the above and then some...What happened there?

he didn't pass enough and had a sh1tty personality.

He also finger rolled and made a bonehead guarantee.

You can make up a reason to hate everyone in NY..Look at Eli and Coughlin..U have to be like Jeter to get over..Win 5 times and have no public persona..

Why do u care about Ewing's sh1tty personality..You are best friends with the press now?

I care become it made me fall in love with him less. Love is love.

Dude played hard and left it on the court is all I cared about...

but you said you cared about wins. he didn't really grow as a player, he focussed on the wrong things.

Ewing was a much better defender. Barkley was a MUCH MUCH MUCH better offensive player.

Of course barkley was a franchise player. You have a problem with him not being a leader? Guess what ... we have that right now in fuk NY.

Is melo a franchise player? Is Melo a better player than Barkley was?

You must love soap operas..I could care less the relationship players have with the press..The press tear them down then buddy buddy the following day...I don't blame Ewing..
Balkman sucked and wasn't taking this team toe to toe with MJ every year...

duh on balkman ... I knew that you would pick on that with a silly response.

I could care less what the press thinks. They are mostly tools.

I hate selfish ball. Nothing bothers me more than a player who does not share the ball enough.

Ewing was an excellent player but I just did not love him and its not just because he did not win. Don Mattingly never won but NY was sickly crazy over him.

Well that's where we differ..I give kudos to guys who take my teams as far as they can go..It's the best period of Knick basketball that I have experienced bar none..I won't hold unrealistic expectation over their heads...Ewing versus MJ, Pippen, Rodman, etc...I'm happy we were able to compete...

too bad you missed the 69-73 knicks then. at least they won it all twice playing unselfish team ball.

no he did not grow as a player. he was a center out of college but never developed a low post game, court vision, passing game. fadeaway baseline jumpers? sure. that is not what you want from a center.

That a quote from Melo about the pressures of New York has turned into an indictment of Patrick Ewing's career — to me seems to validate Melo's point about New York's lack of patience and high expectations.

It's also OK to just say that by 2000 many of us were bored or disappointed by Ewing and more excited about the shiny new toys in Spree and Camby. But carry on trying to find stats-based rationale to retrospectively validate your emotions.

Eli and Houston as examples of true New York sports heroes... this is pretty funny. They heroically took tons of backpage ****, no doubt.

Great thing about New York is since it's so dense, everywhere you want to do a happy dance you are dancing on someone's grave.

Barkley drastically declined after his MVP season in 93. Ewing was putting up 20&10 into 1998. 5 whole seasons later. You guys all need to brush up on your NBA history. If that's the case you take Derrick Rose off his one MVP season over say Paul Pierce and Dirk Nowitski

Did Barkley Come close to sniffing a ring after 93? Cos Ewing did a bunch of times. Lead the Knicks to be finals and ECF multiple times and we should've beat the Heat in 97 if not for PJ brown and the league screwing us with those ridiculous suspensions. Like suspending Ewing for ha ring his toe over the in bound line

Derrick Rose never made it to the NBA Finals. Barkley came close but ultimately fell short to Jordan in 1993.
