Yeah..I really liked him then but there was a huge drop off in Denver..He wasn't playing with the same energy..Same thing in Portland..He can be a good 20 mins a night guy on a good team..

He didn't have a great year but was a near allstar the season before. He is much more than a 20 mpg player.

I don't know if he has the legs to go 30+ minutes full throttle any more..But I guess he is betting on himself with the contract he signed..

He's not even 30 years old yet. Why on this board do we treat all our players like they are 40 years old? If he is healthy he should be able to stay at a high level for another 3-4 years.

I'm not quite sure what you are referring to, regarding treating people like 40 year olds..I'm talking about my observation of one individual...Afflalo will be 30 this year, same age as Deng...Luol Deng isn't the same player he was in Chicago...LeBron physically isn't the same player as he was in Miami..LeBron is unique..Given our roster, Afflalo can help no doubt, but those Orlando days are long gone in my opinion...I certainly hope I'm wrong...

Interesting that you mention Deng because his season in Miami is what you hope Afflalo will duplicate here. Deng's game was trending downward and he had a very poor year in 2014 going from Chi to Cle and then he turned it around in Miami to have a bounce back year. Dude had his most efficient year in terms of True shooting of his career.

I do not think Afflalo is as good of a defender as Deng but maybe he can have a bounce back year offensively.

Yeah, I think Thibs ran his players into the ground..They cut his mins in Miami and he still has value..He isn't the energy guy that played in Chicago and has a lessor role, less shots..He probably made the adjustment to his game...I didn't see a lot of him in Miami tho..

I like to think that if a player takes care of his body he can be an effective catch and shoot guard for a long time. 29-30 is nothing IMO. As long as Afflalo's healthy he should be able to be productive shooting wise. SG's may lose some of their defensive quickness but usually that stroke remains.

Manu Ginobili is 38
Jason Terry is 37
Kyle Korver is 34
J.J. Redick is 31
Andre Iguodala is 31

We go from affalo, to Deng, to Lebron and try to bash or love the signing.
Then we have chemistry and the triangle, all wrapped up with a coach who has won championships as a player put together by the all time winningst coach who has not taken his leadership abilities and moving the knicks to a new culture of basketball with all his coachs and ex players.

These guys have rings. Knicks are a work in progress.

Year one: Evaluate and tear down if mold is found. We found mold and water damage. We rebuild.
Year two: Draft a high potential player, get Melo back on track, and use cap to round out a roster.

Enjoy the season. Really, I can see an Atlanta type of year where knicks do really well. Slow start, Triangle love sets in and nice finish to make playoffs. No great deep run. Just progress.
I can also see injury riddled season and winning 25 games as well.

But in the dog day so of summer I can't see whats gonna happen.

If a player stays motivated and doesn't get hurt badly, they shouldn't decline at age 29. Afflalo should have a big year for us with luck.
