yeah i agree. I dont think he has done enough to earn 13 million. Hell afflalo has a better track record and he is getting 8 per year

Yup him taking a 3 year 27m contract would be great. It would leave is with 10m
We sign Lou to vet min as well as some other D League promising big.
Get Shved for two miilion and Cole for 5 million.
Hopefully have around 5 million left over to get a decent PF like Bejinca.
i just wish can get rid of calderons contract. Im sure phil is kicking himself for that move.
I don't know. I think if he landed Monroe Calderon's shooting would have been quite a weapon.

If Jackson feels Lopez is a very good fit, maybe he gives him a little more per year but it's a 4 year deal. That way, if he's become valuable to the Knicks, you don't have to face having to resign him during the cap expansion frenzy.

Maybe (I doubt it) we even add a team option for the 4th year...who knows.

We are renting Affalo for 8MM, JR Smith was making 6.5MM this year

We had Chandler and now we are paying Lopez similar money

What exactly is Phil doing here? Koufus is the smarter signing with more upside.

I hope this deal goes thru. R Lopez was one of the bigs on my WS48 list that I thought would be a good addition. He's not at the top of the list and not at the bottom either. He's right smack in the middle of the better FA bigs in the NBA. I think R Lopez would be just what we need to anchor the D and play in the post. He's not a great offensive big, but he's effective enough close to the basket. He's mechanical but because he's so big he gets it done. I wish he was a better rebounder but in the end we just have to accept he's gonna have some flaws. Overall tho I think he'll be a good addition and better than people think he's gonna be. I know he's not the sexy pick but he would allow the team to function at a high enough level to compete.

Chandler was trashing his coach every chance he got, uninspired and often ill or injured and he was supposed to be a leader. Lopez at least is a better locker room guy. That's Right!!! JR? Really? JR? Afflalo is a much more consistent, better defensive version of JR.

Much better player, but he's gone after a year. If it was a multiple year deal it would have made sense.

Phil clearly wants flexibility. The future of the team is going to be based around our younger players and other young players we bring in in the following years. For right now the FA's serve a purpose to get the team up to a more competitive level as the young players develop. Phil isn't done adding young players IMO.
