Again, I think this pick was made to allow KP to have a friend to go through this journey with him, assuring him, he is part of Phil Jackson's plan moving forward and fully committed to developing him and not a trade bait...

With Phil Jackson getting the 19th pick for Tim Hardaway JR, I almost can forgive him for most of his negative moves

Come on knick fans.....phil is playing chess while some of you are still playing checkers. Every move phil makes is always a 2 for 1 deal. A center that doesnt take up a roster spot and hes a friend of KP. Christmas and others do not provide a 2 for 1 deal. All they do is take up a roster spot that could be filled by a vet. We have enough young role players. And these other guys weren't high on their ranking.....so it was a smart move. When u pick a euro guy 4th...and his success is linked to phils gm legacy....you do what u can to make his transistion smooth while investing in a potential like the spurs do. Pick and stash....

I dont think the NBA is going the way of this kind of player and we had some real chances there at 37? to really help the perimeter defense of the team. We do get a big guy and we dont have any right now--but I think there were better options.

I value your opinion, but I'll go with the stats on this one:

Hernangomez is one of just seven players in Spanish ACB history to post a PER of 20 or better at age or younger with Stanley Roberts, Tiago Splitter, Rudy Fernandez, Ricky Rubio, Nikola Mirotic and Luis Scola on that list.

He has put up some big numbers in the 2nd highest BB League in the world next to the NBA, guy has talent. Not an über athlete for sure though.

so you mean you like a 20 y/o doing well against grown men in the 2nd best league over a 23 y/o doing okay against kids. Who would have thought.

LOL, yeah, like that

I think with Guillarmo, they are confident he could help this next season but his buyout (which appears unknown) is too large (not sure how anyone really knows.) He produced quite well (carrying a PER of 20) in the 2nd highest league in the world. I'm sure they would rather have him develop here. Maybe there is a chance he can come if they really feel he will contribute (e.g., he can pay for the buyout himself but we would have to give him a nice contract and that would really eat into our cap.)
