Now a days in this no hand check nba I don't think a lockdown defender exist in the nba ... This is a sharpshooter or get to the ft line type of league now... Russell or kristap

Shump is the downside and Jimmy Butler is the upside. Every option available to us has a bad downside. This is not unique to Winslow. We can at least say Winslow played well in his first year of college, though. Some of the guys people are talking about taking have never even played well outside of a few workouts.

The thing is Jimmy Butler was also a PF in college but he worked extremely hard on his conditioning and jump shot to play the 2 in the NBA. Will Winslow do the same? That is a bit rare. Winslow started the year at PF but Duke's SF got injured. Winslow then excelled by overpowering smaller 3's. Will he be quick enough to guard 2's in the NBA? Your SG needs to be able to shoot in this offense. Is he working hard on his jump shot? Will be surprise us? My guess is he will play SF but not on the Knicks unless we trade down and trade Melo. We better not see Melo at the floor. His career will be cut even shorter then

I tend to be concerned when you're a college PF with an NBA shooting guard's length... albeit he is 230 or so lbs. I very frequently think of Lavar Postell. I am not comparing the two but it basically sounds like we have zero clue what Winslow can give you at the NBA level.

At least with Kristsp, you know for a fact that you have a true 7 footer who can shoot the lights out while displaying athleticism while also being able to put the ball on the floor.

I can also care less about him talking openly about his brand. I do not consider that to be immature, ****y or stupid. It just sounds like he wants to make a name for himself and make money, which I have zero problem with.

I worry about Kristap in the triangle because he isn't a good passer.... As for Winslow his stats began to improve before he was placed at PF. Also if the knicks play Melo at PF I like the idea of the mismatch Winslow causes at the 3. Most teams will put their best wing defender on Melo meaning that Winslow could be faced by either a lesser Wing (and he is a versatile player himself) or the same PF mismatch he saw in college.

I really like a potential line up of

Melo
Carroll
Winslow

at the wing. A lot of teams wouldn't have an answer for that defensively and we saw a similar construct work with the championship GSW

Green
Iggy
Klay

The only difference would be the scoring load would come from the 4 from Melo instead of the 2 with Klay.

The algorithm gives and the algorithm takes away

I can't get over Monroe and his slowness on the defensive end of things. He's an upgrade for what the Knicks have, but I don't ever see him as being on a team that has the potential to go all the way.

Agreed. I'd rather make Melo the post player/go to player in the triangle.

I think the language had evolved and left you behind. I think that's what he did say or something close to it. He just didn't elaborate on the context. Maybe your interpretation is right. Maybe mine is. But to just jump to a conclusion without considering any alternate possibilities and acting like it's the only possible thing he could have meant isn't very open minded.

Yup- I've been left behind, as has class and what it means to be an athlete, I suppose.

Got to go now...need to take my alzheimer's meds.

You go have some chocolate milk from your sippy-cup and enjoy...
