Kaminsky is a very good prospect but you have to project his impact on a team at the NBA level. Yes he can space the floor and would be a better fit in Detroit than Monroe offensively. Since he can play on the perimeter it would allow Detroit to play 4 out 1 in the way they like with Drummond.

WCS is a good fit for the Knicks due to his huge impact on D. We stunk defensively and WCS would provide the needed coverage both inside and on the perimeter. We have to stop underestimating how much WCS could impact the team's defense. Any offense he give us would be a plus. Also great defense can create offense with steals, blocks and fast breaks. Being able to get out and run after stops would be a very good boost to the team. WCS also runs like a Gazelle so he can help the team get a few more easy buckets when we push the pace with our guards.

Where does he fit in because he's not a starting center. Knicks are mostly gonna target established ones through free agency to make them contenders. If Kaminsky can dominate WCS what makes you think he won't get dominated in the NBA. I would rather take my chances with a highly skilled stretch 4 and get an established rim protecting center like RoLo or Koufos.

If we had Drummond....i would be all over Kaminsky. He has more offensive potential than Monroe. Thats why Detroit wants him......not because of his defense.

I know this and said what you already said about Detroit. I didn't imply they want Kaminsky for his defense

How about we draft Kaminsky to play C, sign Carroll for SG, then split the remaining money on defensive PFs Ed Davis and Brandon Wright? Would that work?

Briggs, you want Frank Kaminsky, it's maybe the only player you haven't wavered on when you change your mind every three days like some chick trying to pick a prom dress.

Kaminsky and Melo - No defense, no rim protection but at least you aren't asking Melo to defend on the wing

Monroe and Melo - No defense, no rim protection, you clog up the floor spacing since Monroe can't shoot long range and Melo actually is effective in the low post, but at least you aren't asking Melo to defend on the wing.

Kaminsky, Monroe and Melo - NO DEFENSE. NO RIM PROTECTION. YOU CLOG UP THE FLOOR SPACING SINCE MELO AND MONROE'S STRENGTHS CONFLICT WITH EACH OTHER. PLUS YOU ARE ASKING MELO TO DEFEND ON THE WING.

You'll just avoid the topics that are brought up that you have no answer for and question your methodology to team building.

HOW ARE THE KNICKS GOING TO WIN, TO HAVE THAT "PERIMETER DEFENSE" YOU KEEP TALKING ABOUT, WITH MELO ASKED TO DEFEND ON THE WING?

You won't answer. You have no answer. You just condescended, as is your BS way, about what other people know about basketball defense, however you've just put together a team where the frontcourt will be gutted night in and night out on the defensive end.

Your base argument seems to be that Kaminsky and Monroe will be "tall enough" as if that's the only factor that matters in post defense.

THERE IS A REASON WHY MONROE IS AVAILABLE IN THE FIRST PLACE. PART OF THAT IS HE CREATES MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS AND IF HE ENDS UP A KNICK, HE WILL KEEP CREATING MORE QUESTIONS AND NEGATIVE TRADEOFFS, INCLUDING KILLING THE CAP SPACE.

You talk about defense yet you want to infuse the roster with Rodney Stuckey, Mo Williams, Enes Kanter and an array of roster churn and guys who will be available for a reason.

Byron Mullens is 7 feet tall. Under your "guideline", since he's tall enough, he should be a good post defender right? And if you had Mullens manning the pivot and you had Tony Allen and a young Bruce Bowen plus an Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder on the wings, you wouldn't need anything else on defense would you? A guy like Mullens would be enough right?

Defense in the nba is perimeter based first TT. If you look at what I want out of the draft Kaminsky mickey and fuzaro it's based on perimeter defense and a highly talented mobile 4-5 who I just like. this is not the end team we need good pieces and over time we can see the best fit

Atlanta just learned that lesson the hard way..Ignore interior defense at your own peril..Tristan Thompson pummeled them on the boards..GS launches threes but their bigs play defense and rebound..Good luck selling that dream..

If we get Monroe and increase his minutes to 36-38 let Frank play face 4 for 32- 35 and keep Melos minutes at 30 to keep him fresh--I think we can be highly competitive IF we start stocking up on athletic perimeter defenders who can also play OFFENSIVELY--whether Melo stays in the long run--no idea--but I think we can increase his value which may be at an all time low right now.

This is what Memphis does they have two GREAT backcourt defenders and they can run the offense through the top of the post. In my scenario we ACQUIRE players who can defend athletically on the perimeter BUT can also play OFFENSE---- absolutely NOT 1 player on my team will be here if they are raw on offense.

This is the fastest way to get better its the smartest way to get better. Mudiay might be a great PG one day or he could be a version of Tyreke Evans. I really think Franks can be special because of his handle/playmaking post and shooting skills. How many players in this draft willed their teams to 2 final 4's in a row and won like 75 games?

Post defense is easy--Greg Monroe Kaminsky and whoever their back ups--who is the 30 point post player right now? Thats right there is none. Its all perimeter based. 3 and penetration. We have SIZE to bother a penetrator we need SPEED from the perimeter.

NY ain't taking Frank at #4th pick

Caremelo is one player of 15 slots. You target two way players and do what you can to bring them into the fold. This is not a 1 yr fix this is a mutli year fix

I didn't sign melo or trade for Calderon if it was up to me they would not be here. I can produce some player names and strategy on a message board but if you want that questioned answered go to the source. And again no need to be obnoxious about it grow up

Kaminsky isn't a rim protecting defensive stopper. He is a stretch 4 like Nowitzki and would be effective playing alongside rim protectors like Drummond, Whiteside, Gobert, e.t.c. He isn't a bad defender neither. He's similar to Nowitzki on the defensive side with the potential to be somewhat like Gasol which isn't saying much.

Another thing I would consider:

If the Pistons have no intention of taking Kaminsky, how about we trade WCS (or whoever they want at 4) for an asset (some future pick or something) plus Kaminsky (who they select at 11) and Hibbert's expiring deal. The reason I'd take on Hibbert is mainly because I don't think there are two players I'd like to max out in FA, so by taking him you have a stop gap defensive C to pair with Kaminsky, and then another max slot once his contract comes off the books next season. If he plays well, you may even be able to trade him at the deadline if it looks like we're going nowhere. Bird is desperately trying to get him to not pick his player option up.

That would give us:

C- Hibbert
PF- Kaminsky
SF- Melo
SG- Carroll or whomever
PG- Gallo/ Calderon/ Shved or pray you can trade Calderon for Beverley

The only way is to play Melo at PF and surround him by guys who play perimeter defense and make sure his sub at the 4 plays defense too.

The algorithm gives and the algorithm takes away

No one knows who Phil will select. While many are saying take the BPA, Phil has shown to not think like everyone else. He's an enigma and has said he looks for that diamond in the rough kind of player. All of us fans are speculating who Phil will select and it's two types of those fans. The first type of fans are the majority that believe in choosing the Best Player Available. The second type of fans are the minority that believe in choosing the Best Fit Player. BRIGGS, myself, and other guys that's vouching for Kaminsky are the minority. We have legit reasons why Phil might trade down and select him and some of those reasons is because he's similar to Pau Gasol and has the tools as a triangle player. Compared to all the big men in the draft, Kaminsky is the perfect fit and the most ready to contribute. Karl Towns game is similar to Kaminsky because of his versatility. It's still developing and isn't as ripe. He plays better defense though.

Since it's a given that Towns will be selected either 1st or 2nd, the same can't be said about Okafor who has a chance to slip to the 4th pick because the Lakers seem to be interested in D'Angelo as well. If the Lakers choose D'Angelo that means the Sixers will choose Mudiay. I don't think Phil likes Okafor. The only way I can see Phil selecting him is using him as a trade chip or trading down for two quality prospects since the Knicks don't have no picks for next year's draft. During that ST.John's game against Duke, Phil didn't seem impressed by Okafor. In that game his lackadaisical defense and poor conditioning was on display. Okafor doesn't have that intimidating presence which is why ST.Johns kept attacking the lane, he's soft. Phil didn't say not one word about him but went out of his way to check out and be interested in KAT and catch a fine for saying good things about D'Angelo. Okafor's game is outdated and one dimensional. Phil seems to be targeting prospects that best fit triangle which is why they interviewed Kaminsky, Jerian Grant, Justise, and WCS. Phil didn't say not one word about Mudiay neither but the tabloids got many fans thinking he's interested in him just like they did with Okafor. Since D'Angelo seems to be out of reach Phish might be content with Galloway running the point. What's the difference between Galloway and Mudiay besides age and passing the ball? What's the difference between Galloway & D'Angelo besides age, scoring, and passing? Because Galloway can shoot, defend, cut to the basket finishing with either hand, protect the ball, isn't turnover prone, and is athletic. He has shown the ability to fight over screens and stay with his man. Galloway frustrated a lot of points guards during the season with his gorilla arms. As a rookie he put up similar numbers to Patrick Beverley. Phish & Melo knows that it's going to take time to develop a point guard and Galloway is a step ahead of Mudiay.

Justise could be n play but I won't be shocked if Phil isn't interested because they might be okay with keeping wing players like Lance Thomas whose a good backup for Melo. I don't think they're trading Hardaway yet and they're still developing other wing players like Cleanthony and Thanasis who aren't that different athletically from Justise. Knicks already have 5 wing players and if they plan on keeping them they will most likely go after one more whose experienced to make them contenders. This is where Danny Green, Wes Matthews, and DeMarre Carroll could be in play.

Besides defense Willie Trill doesn't bring much to the table and got dominated by Kaminsky

Kaminsky can make Monroe and melo better
