Whilst you do make some valid points, who are we going to find a coach who:
- Has NBA coaching experience, as you pointed out.
- Knows the triangle really well by either playing in it previously or even better coaching it before.
-Would want to come to this hell hole
- be composed under the pressure of having to do really well in his first season as we don't have a 2016 pick to "Tank/fall back on"
- Has a somewhat reasonable track record
It's not so much a track record thats important, it's a guy thats not going to come here and say yes phil, whatever you say phil, will do it that way phil..
It's funny how a lot of ppl question why he was so hell bent on hiring fisher, and for good reasons. Now these same people are talking about give him a few yrs, like producing the worst season record in the history (50+ yrs) of the franchise was nothing to be alarmed about.
Wait so you think it's a bad thing for Fish to continue to learn from Phil? If there are things that Phil points out to Fish why in the HELL would you not want him to listen to Phil when it comes to coaching? Like i've said to others... GTFOH!!! This is the dumbest logic i've ever read on this forum. 1st of all Phil isn't going to just ignore any valid tweaks that Fish wants to make to the system, but at the same time I think it would be smart for Fish to continue to learn from Phil when it comes to coaching.Phil isn't blaming Fish for the record when it's obvious that he's trying to rebuild the team and has left the roster with almost nothing in the way of starting talent. Phil is seeing everything that Fish does and if he feels Fish is the coach he wants then he's gonna stick with him and support him. If at some point Phil felt that Fish was a detriment to winning when the team has the talent to win, then i'm sure he'd make a change. We're not at that point.
And if it takes 5 yrs(judging from the looks of things) for him to even remotely learn, your willing to sit there with your pomp poms and mini skirt talking about... Gimme F, Gimmie I, gimmie S, Gimmie H..cmon nix
How confident would you be if you went on a new job and the person training you was currently being trained themselves, in the process it's making you look bad and your screwing everything up because of the person training you.
Please stop bringing up what phil planned on doing, he already admitted he screwed up on the roster, and even if he realize he fck up with fish, there's no way he throws him under the bus, the guy practically waited outside the locker room (after the thunders finally game) to offer him the 3rd highest paying coaching job in the league. You know how that would make phil look, like a totally idiot.
At this point 25 wins next season would be a major improvement and that's the saddest part of it all
Fisher himself is saying that he has a lot to learn but you are taking it too far in assuming that he's the reason the team is losing or would lose should we improve the talent on the roster. We're not losing because of the coaching. You may be fixated on this but it's not the reason the team is losing games.
You also never addressed the logic of Fish listening to Phil as a mentor. You're basically assuming that Phil is a moron and doesn't know anything about BB. He should not be listened to and he has no chance of improving the team this summer. You really want to stick to this idea that it will take 5 years to rebuild this team? You have some company on this forum in that regard and we'll see if that's right next season.
Of course fisher is not the entire reason, I never said he was. And to put make it a little bit more clearer, how many assistant that phil worked with in all his championship seasons have gone on to have success as head coaches?
Phil for the most part has stayed away from fisher through out this season, he has traveled with the team all of 1 time this entire season, and that was london. He has said on a few occasions that he will let fisher do him, just think...have you ever seen phil run a 14 man rotation. That was fisher, and he said he would do just that during training camp, and thats just a small example of fishers decision making.
The reason phil can't come around as much as he likes and have a more physical presence and a mental impact on the team (besides health), is because it will take away from fisher's authority, and that's understandable. He rarely goes to practices, and he hardly ever talks to the team, he said so himself. It's not because the roster is trash, or they are in tank mode, he's just giving the guy space to learn on the job.
Thats why it will take 5 yrs.
Now if phil was at every practice, on the road and home, talking to the team, having that impact he had on jordan and kobe, thats an entire different story, and I'm sure our record would be different, and JR, Amare, and shump would still be here playing a much better brand of basketball from a mental stand point.
Phil was able to get into MJ and KOBE's head, Fisher can't even crack the surface with THJ, who looks more erratic than he was last season.
HE JUST DOESN'T HAVE THAT PERSONALITY..IMO
