Quite frankly I don't think we will get anyone big my dream team is:
C-Towns
Pf-Thomas Robinson
SF-Melo
Sg-Matthews
PG-Dragic or Knight

Id be more than fine with:
C-Towns
Pf-Bargs
SF-Melo
SG-Danny Green
PG- Beverly

But something tells me it will look more like tis
PG-Mudiay
Sg- Stuckey
SF-Tobias(overpay)
PF-Melo
Center- Kanter(overpay)

The Future is Bright!

Money, alone, never solved anything. How do you measure heart... and the ability to thrive in New York City?

If the Knicks acquire a first round pick who can start, and a single free agent who compliments him, it is an outstanding off season.

Two productive moves this off season. Two moves the next. That is a start.

I think you misread the question. PS wants your lineup in a fantasy offseason, not how to build a franchise. So yeah, in one offseason -- this one -- what would you like to see happen.

First off Jose C GTFO waive and stretch also good bye to Early Acy Admundson Thomas Wear Larkin and Smith. My goal here is to be competitive but also rebuilding.

C -Kosta Koufus 4 years 16mm
PF Karl Anthony Towns
SF Carmelo Anthony
SG Rodney Stuckey 3 years 22.5mm
PG Maurice Williams 1 year 6 mm with team option for 2

C Alexis Anjica 2 years 6mm(only guaranteed first year)
PF Rakeem Christmas acquired pick 28 with Cleveland for Tim Hardaway JR and 2 second round picks
SF Demarre Carroll 3 years 15mm
G Langston Galloway
G Gary Payton JR acquired Pick 43(cash)

C/PF Christian Wood acquired pick # 19 with Philly for a 2018 top 5 restricted #1
PF Larry Nance JR (undrafted) 3 years 2 guarnteed)
F Charlie Villanueva 2 years 3 mm
G Kevin Pangos(undrafted) 2 years 1 guaranteed)
G Landry Fields vet minimum

This leaves me a maximum spot in free agency in 2016 as well.

Briggs -- what is this stretch provision that you keep talking about? For a to be 35 Calderon, wouldn't it be countered by the Over-36 Rule -- that is, a three year contract for a player who will be over 36 at the beginning of any contract year under that contract, they reallocate the salary in the over 36 years back to the front -- if you stretch by adding even 1 year to his 2 year contract, they will add the salary from the back end to the front.

Phil could just load up on tier 2 or tier 3 players on good, short contracts and when the trade deadline comes around any player that will be a URFA in 2016 and hasn't given his team a vote of confidence that he's gonna re-sign with them will be up for trade so having some good players on good contracts and the extra 2nd round picks Phil got this year will be good for trading at the deadline next year. This is obviously if Phil strikes out on any of the bigger names in 2015. Just one way of going about it.

You're right, this is another way to go but something that would be very much in the back of my mind if I were Phil -- Carmelo Anthony is breaking down right in front of our very eyeballs. I hope he can keep it together for the next few seasons and come back at optimum level. That's key because there's an urgency now to put the best team together asap. last thing I'd want to see is another Pat Ewing deal where we finally put together enough talent to make it far in the playoffs, maybe even to the Finals, and not have our best guy available. We chose to give this guy $125mm. I'm not saying blow our load completely but to me there's an urgency to field a good team sooner than later. Just something I hope Phil has in mind. He has to I'm sure.

It should be a option B/C or D that's why i said if Phil strikes out on the bigger names he wants. I don't believe in the Melo breaking down talk because the game Melo plays is a game that i think he'll be able to finish his contract on without showing much of breaking down and i think he's gonna come back from this knee surgery just fine as well.

Looks like another player became available in the offseason:

Rajon Rondo had a heated verbal exchange with coach Rick Carlisle early in the third quarter on Tuesday, after which Rondo never re-entered the game.

DO NOT WANT!

Well Rondo is melo's #1 target.

Phil is trying to avoid these kind of players. If we get him you know who's running the franchise

Interesting. There used to be talk earlier in his career that Carlisle had trouble relating to players. Now guys like Tyson are saying things like, 'coach puts you in the right places to be good.' Hopefully the leadership on that team steps up and gets Rondo through this.

I was against the Knicks signing Rondo up until recently because he seemed to have handled the rebuild in Boston very well. Was expecting Rondo to be more of a wrench in the works, especially with a rookie coach.

To disrespect your new coach like that, a championship winning coach, soon after joining the team, shows that Rondo is still a headache. Pass.

Oh God no. The only guys I would consider using the max on: Enes Kanter Lebron thats it. Id rather get secondary free agents and wait until next year when KD is a FA. I do think we have a chance with Kanter and I think he might be worth it especially if we get Towns.

We might not have a choice but to wait for Durant and other FAs, The best ones will probably re-sign with their teams. As long as the Knicks are making the right decisions, we can see a foundation being built, I can wait. Just want to see progress, a plan.

Thats fine. However the issue is that we dont have our pick next year so even if we arent terrible its gonna suck giving away a high draft pick

Yes, its an issue we will have to deal with. Briggs is right that we have build from the ground up until we have a real shot at a star, the right star. The roster has to be filled with quality role players. We want Durant and other FAs to see a team worth coming to, a team with a deep bench.

Yeah i dont want to be negative but i see a lot of the good free agents resigning with their respective teams. Guys like Love,Dragic,Gasol,Rondo, and even restricted free agents like butler resigning. Our biggest chip is the lottery pick but whoever our pick will be probably will take a couple years to fully develop. Im just so pissed about teh Bargnani trade, it was so unecessary especially for a guy who has been pretty much a bust since he as drafted

I really think this is our most likely lineup for next season. Not a dream lineup but a good one.

C Monroe
Pf towns
SF Anthony
SG Matthews or D Green
Pg Calderon

I am 100% with Briggs that Towns is #1. Also, by his size, right now he is a PF. I think the FA not named LeBron that is best for this team is Jimmy Butler, but I can't see Chicago letting him go, though they do not have a ton of cap space. With Towns and Butler we would have two two way players. A core of Butler Melo Towns works for me. Give me a 3pt specialist PG and defensive C and I am Triangularly satisfied. If Chicago was a guys fit for Melo, I would center a trade around him and Butler, only for cap reasons. His 24mm is an issue with future competitiveness.

The free agency plan really depends on who we get in the draft. Here is my plan depending on who we get in the draft.

#1 pick Okafor. This means we need a defensive presence at the 4 or 5 spot as the main FA pickup. Then pickup a PG then SG. I am only targeting UFA at every position.
C-Robin Lopez or Omar Asik
PF-OK4
SF-Melo
SG-Danny Green or Wesley Mathews
PG-Lin

#1 pick Towns. This means we need an offensive type player at the 4 spot that can rebound.
C-Towns
PF-Greg Monroe or LMA
SF-Melo
SG-Danny Green or Wesley Mathews
PG-Lin

#1 pick Mundiay. We need to get 5 and 4 that will mesh. They need to defend and rebound.
C-Omar Asik (cheaper than Lopez)
PF-Greg Monroe (cheaper than LMA)
SF-Melo
SG-Danny Green or Mathews
PG-Mundiay

#1 pick d'Angelo Russell. Same as with Mundiay
C-Omar Asik (cheaper than Lopez)
PF-Greg Monroe (cheaper than LMA)
SF-Melo
SG-Russell
PG-Lin

Sign Admunson, Lance Thomas, Galloway,

I would also like to bring in Dunleavy is healthy and available.

Why would Kevin Durant come to the Knicks?

At least the Wizards have a practical reason to consider the option. What kind of legacy does Durant have with the Knicks or NY? At least compared to OKC or the Wizards?

He already pretty much said he wouldn't want to go home to DC. If he leaves then NY and LA would probably be logical destinations, but he's unlikely to leave, as cheap as OKC is.
