I don't even know how you're trying to defend JR with that right now. I don't think anyone believes an NBA player can't party and enjoy themselves, but when that partying effects their play negatively it becomes a problem. That is something JR has recently admitted to and that's after he'd already addressed that a couple of seasons ago.

And for your bong hit comment,

The NBA declined to comment specifically on Smith's violation. According to a summary of the program provided by the league, a third positive test for marijuana results in a suspension that is "five games longer than the player's immediately-preceding marijuana suspension." That is the sole scenario in which a five-game ban is administered.

would you be dumb enough to get caught 3 times?

JR's boneheaded play and behavior also cost this team more than wins or losses- it cost us an asset - we had to trade Shump with JR just to dump him. If he had been playing at the level he is in Cleveland, or close to it, we probably 1. would have kept Shump & 2. possibly gotten back a 1st rounder.

But, go ahead and defend JR. Yes, the team sucks. Yes, there is a leadership vacuum. But that doesn't excuse him from being a dickhead. F JR.

exactly.. the problem is JR and the solution is CLE is a lousy party town. Send him to the Lakers and its same old JR. Send him to Denver and he's high before he leaves the airport.

Dude shot 33% in the playoffs after winning 6th man. Why? Because he would rather dick around with that slut Rhianna than focus on the playoffs. The playoffs... yes. F-U JR. I hope Cle plays Mia in the first round or even BK so JR is out partying and plays like crap.. honestly I do.

He damaged his tendon back in March like Melo and had an additional meniscus tear in the same knee, the thing that Lin refused to pay with, but JR played anyway..No kudos for that??..He re-aggregated it during the Boston series but didn't want to make excuses...He knew we had zero chance to win without him..But just let someone get a picture of him at a party and that must be the reason...

I am going to respectfully say your dead wrong on this.
JR in March: 18 games 22pts 6rebs FG44%
JR in April: 8 games 22pts 6.6rebs FG48%

JR was playing his BEST BALL going into the playoffs. You act like he was struggling with some nagging injury and gutted it out. Dude went from playing his best ball to his worst and it killed the Knicks. So no... no Kudos. STDs maybe.

Then why does he play better in Cle?? "Im going out less and focusing on BB more"

Why are you defending this guy? He's a joke.

U can call JR many things but liar isn't one of them..Guy said he tore his meniscus and damaged his tendon in March..He later said he re-aggravated it in the Boston series but kept it quiet...It's easy to play dog pile on the rabbit...Dude is the 4th option in Cleve as he should be..We wanted him to replace Amare...Come on..

come on what? If you want to make excuses for him great. Bottom line he playing at his highest level in March AND April. You say he got hurt. I remember those games. Dude was just fine, just didnt hit a single shot. He had a great season and sustained it for a long time. Then magically flopped in the playoffs and was partying, but yea... 3 days should be enough time to recoving from being up all night and beating himself up. Hey.. he's Cle's problem now. Of course will Manziel in rehab and Cle's one club has JR on the do not fly list Im sure he will have a great run

Come on Holfresh, between what I posted and what Fishmike posted how can you not admit that JR pretty much wasn't a good team player here in NY. He was only thinking of himself and wasn't professional at all. If he was a rookie I could give him a pass, but he's a grown ass man and been in the league for enough years to have better sense than that. No he wasn't the sole reason for our problems, but he is a good example of what Phil was getting rid of and what we're not going to be looking to see out of the players we bring in. In fact we'll be looking for the complete opposite of what JR is in terms of being a team player and a responsible member of this team.

Perhaps what blkexec said is true about JR in that he needed leadership on the team. Still he didn't respond to anything being said from Woodson or the coaching staff or his teammates and in the previous season when we had good vet leaders during the 54 win season, you'd think he'd have learned all he needed and would carry that thru the following year.
