You know it's a bad sign when even Nixluva can only say "It's not the end of the world"

Isn't this a bit premature? We don't know how his surgery will work out. The normal result if successful is a repair that can last up to 6 years. It doesn't sound like we'd need an amnesty clause if this works as usual.

Beck and others follow this guy on twitter. He is a certified athletic trainer that explains individual nba injuries. He was the guy that mentioned Granger and Wade having the same surgery as Melo. He hasn't written anything specific to Melo but here is a link to site:http://instreetclothes.com/. Pretty informative stuff there. I just glanced at his stuff on Aldridge and Rondo.

those double/triple jumps on offensive rebound and putbacks are gonna hurt alot more now.

so knicks went from walsh in a wheelchair during 2010 to phil on his cushion and melo in a knee brace?

this summer will be very interesting to see just how much "juice" phil and his rings have.

He won't need juice just money and a players agent wanting the big market. It's really not all based on the top guys either. There will be some guys who will want to get out of their current situation. We have 4 open starting spots and there are players who would love to take them.

6 years of what? NBA play? Simply walking without pain?

According to sources, this surgery usually requires a second surgery. If this is the case, 4-6 months could be optimistic. Bottom line, no two bodies are alike... no two injuries are alike.

Bernard King required two years before he was right. After a year if dedicated rehab, Adrain Peterson returned to form in the NFL.

Carmelo Anthony has entered the land of crapshoot. No one knows.

Uncle Phil would be wise to plan without him.

Granger, Amare and Wade all had prior knee injuries before having this surgery.

It's only an estimate. Of course a Pro Athlete is gonna put more wear on the knee than a normal person, but then most people who would get this that aren't athletes would likely be older persons who wore down their knee over a longer period of time.

My guess is that Melo won't get a full 6 years out of his knee repair, but it also doesn't seem like he'd be so bad off that he'd need to be amnestied. That's what you're insinuating.

The whole idea is to clean out the Knee and repair any damage including a loss of cartilage. That patch job will have a shelf life on it. Amar'e didn't have need of any more Knee surgery for years after he got his Microfracture surgery. He didn't miss games after his surgery due to his knees until he got to NY. That was years later.

Amar’e Stoudemire had microfracture surgery before the 2005-06 season, and he played just three games late that year. But he returned to make five more All-Star games, an All-NBA first team and three All-NBA second teams. It sure doesn’t seem as if that surgery hindered Stoudemire’s career. It seems as if it saved it.

Amar'e was able to play 6 years on his knees before needing to have more surgery. It's possible Melo could get thru his contract before he breaks down.

This stupid franchise has such bad luck it is comical. You just re-signed a dude to a huge contract, and now he is injured. Dolan really is cursed.

I think there is something to the curse. Two games into a 5 year deal and the guy injures his knee and needs this surgery? Hopefully he recovers and is back by the start of the season but it just seems like the Knicks have this kind of luck.

Thats why I ive been opting to always play on the safe side. This is why I would've not taken the chance on signing Melo

but its too late

Dk always said it would be his 'troublesome shoulders'.

no i said that he was breaking down because of bully ball and that it could be his shoulders, his knees, his back. that's what bully ball does, especially to an athlete with chronic conditioning issues, hauling around an extra 20 pounds.

and to be clear there's no "told you so" from me. rather, it's time for some of you ingrates to sack up and admit that re-signing him was a huge mistake. even when healthy carmelo anthony's maximum value to the knicks and their specific situation was 15-million dollars, a fair price for a one-way player who was destined for a sixth man role.

if i was the gm with full autonomy that is what i would have offered him. jackson either did not ever have the autonomy we have been led to believe or he is an absolute imbecile.

so lets agree to have no more of this fishmikian "what the market will bear" pandering foolishness please. that's not how you build a winning team.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
