Well that still means an injured Melo would be taking up about 24 of 87 mil while the best teams would potentially have all of the 87 mil spent effectively

Likely we can amnesty him in the final year (the new cba will probably have another amnesty clause)

Problem is agents know whats coming, so they will be looking to increase salaries with that in mind, so they will insist on $20mil contracts on the basis that in two years they are really only the equivalent of $15mil now. Thats why there are going tot be some monster contracts this offseason.

True - but I think for some of these guys like Monroe - their max is capped as a percentage of the current Cap....so he will only be able to Max out in the $16 MM range. So while I would not go crazy for Dragic - I think Monroe will be a longer term good value at that salary.

this... which is where I came up with the 4 years $60 ($15mm per). Its a near max offer and puts the Knicks and him in great position moving forward.

You don't know what you're talking about!!! In this system it's set up to have two post players. You have the Strong side Triangle and on the Weak side you have the Pinch Post where Melo is usually going to be. It's not even close to a problem. Monroe fits in perfectly.
