so has anyone sent Jim an email yet?

How long before its changed?

I still can't believe someone as wealthy as James Dolan actually wrote that email. I would never hire someone like that to do any job, let alone be in charge of a sports franchise.

I don't know. The letter wasn't even malicious. You're running a company and major sports franchises and you respond by calling the guy an alcoholic and telling him to go be a nets fan. seems awfully childish. especially since the team has advanced in the playoffs once in 15 years and you have subject the fans to the worst stretch of basketball in the franchises history. you have a golden parchute being in nyc and having corporations to fall back on, how about showing humility and not responding and understand that most fans have a reason to call for your head.

Something does not add up. Almost as if someone got to his e-mail but he can't prove it. In the scheme of things, its not big deal.

He owns the knicks, he is not selling. The other guy has been a knick fan for 60 years so he is likely 70+ years old himself and that note itself also seemed real basic.

Dude went in about him getting everything from Daddy. I imagine it's enough of a sore spot to trigger a dumb reply.

It is stuff said about him on the internet all of the time. Why suddenly reply to him? The crazy part is that what most of what that fan said was true.

Do you realize the number of God awful things said to these celebrities on all facets of the internet are just generally ignored? What that guy said was child's play!

I doubt Dolan is trolling the unfiltered Internet like that. Email ain't Twitter. It's more personal but you can't delete after it's sent. All it takes is losing your cool one time for
something like this.

Nice Guardian article about idiot Dolan, the Knicks, and the fan letter:

That’s some darn fine customer relations, Jimmy. Tell a total stranger who is also clearly a die-hard that he’s a) a bad person b) a loser and c) a drunk because he’s foolish enough to stick with your product.

Of course, this petty, bile-soaked bit of prose is pretty much par for the course when it comes to Dolan, whose stewardship has been notable for not just the colossal failure(s) on the court (and sexual harassment lawsuits, and thuddingly inept trades, and ill-conceived meddling that’s driven anyone that actually understood basketball as far away from the team as possible) but by the paranoid, cruel and imperious acts of vengeance when it comes to critics and perceived “enemies”.

In this league you need to hit the low and accept the process before you rebound. When you throw money at it and try to circumvent rebuilding through trading you get multiple years worth of penalties.

Note to MSG.

Invite Biederman to the garden to watch a game with Dolan. Have him meet Clyde and Phil, etc. Make nice.

Tell the guy he is sorry and is frustrated as well but he is not selling.

Dolan needs to own it and just say he was having a bad day.
All gone. Easy.

1. Jimmy Dumblan did NOT buy the team from his own money, his dad did. He just wants to be a talented musician.
2. He dissed a pissed off Knicks fan loyal to the Knicks longer than Jimmy's life.
3. If you think Jimmy can do whatever he wants because he owns the team, and you're following him by NOT scorching him for everything he's done so far, you're a follower of the dollar bills, the golden ox, not the Knicks, because a true fan, puts his/her passion into this team long before the Dolans own it, loyal forever, and gets pissed off whenever the owner screws up loyally. If you're dissing these fans, you are not a true Knicks fan because you have no idea what you're following, or just too optimistic about Jimmy turning the table around with his wit and patience.
4. I think the email cannot be a scheme for anything, because that just makes our team's owner look more stupid than he already is.
5. We've hit rock bottom. We're the most expensive NBA team and we're the bottom feeder and our star player is hurt and most likely out for season if they care about Melo. New low.
6. Yes, I wish Jimmy dead. I just can't shoot him and get away with it, so there you go, he's alive. God bless the law.
7. Stay a true Knicks fan, don't switch to the Nets like Jimmy wants us to.

Would have been great if he said something racist then went on TV and not apologize for it and justify your action.

There is a poster on here who has suggested that some posters work for MSG/Dolan and he wasn't joking.

"Invite Biederman to the garden to watch a game with Dolan."

Whoa. Now that's a risky move. It's a long shot but I can see it happening . . . I just can't see it ending well.

" . . . some posters work for MSG/Dolan and he wasn't joking . . . "

I remember seeing posters show up, defend Dolan and/or the Knicks--esp. during the Sanders vs. Knicks/Isiah Thomas court hearings--get called on being Dolan employees, kinda half-deny that and get defensive, and then disappear. It seemed likely, yes, that MSG/Dolan was paying a PR firm to say nice things on fan boards but who knows?

I don't see anyone defending Dolan here. My name is "Dolan" backwards because he does everthing wrong for years.
I have been accused of being a closet Net fan by some because two years ago the team was facinating to me.
I am long on record of blasting Dolan but never a proponent of him selling because thats not certain a new owner brings success. Briggs put it best years ago that " a rotting head infects the rest of the body". For years I discussed the decision making process vs. blaming the individual. Laying blame never matters because the new guy always came in and did the same thing. Guess what, at PHils hiring interview Dolan admitted his input has been there for a long time.

I think Dolan wants to win, why not? Its profitable. He is also scared of losing and when the garden got renovated he was scared.

Thank Sterling for resetting franchise values and gives Jimmy pause and headroom to justify rebuilding the franchise. Phil was a starphuch not just for us, but for JImmy to delegate.
He hired McKinsey consulting and promptly fired Grunwald. My take was Mills was not to be "the basketball guy", so it all worked out.

1. I do believe plan "A" was to include a very healthy Bargnani/Melo tandem with 50 game contribution Stat and if the team did good, he'd sell assets and tank to crack the lottery. Thats just my guess.
2. Plan "B" is rid the non believers out and tank toward a top 3 pick.

Back to the subject: are there any Dolan Moles here? I don't see anyone defending him, the man is an emotional midget who does will to stay away. The Email showed what most of us suspected. As long as he is not making basketball decisions, I don't care how stupid he is as long as he is smart enough to delegate.

I'm with Briggs. Bonn -- do you think this losing is an accident? For once the team is making the correct economic move by losing. Mediocrity does nothing. All I want is continuity on a plan and for Phil Jackson to exert his will on the franchise.

You know I gonna spin wit it
