what does kobe have to do with anything in this thread?

your quote

why not? he should be everything that you hate if you are being fair and balanced.

I liked what you said about amare though ("awesome"). He is a numb nut bonehead and I can't fathom how knowledgeable fans still defend this guy.

Oh, didn't quite get your drift then. I merely poked fun at the Kobe trade thread which was to my understanding a unicorn fantasy without the least substance imaginable. Will never happen, hence kind of like watching hamsters with party hats do treadmill laps while saying "Hey, we're really getting somewhere with this."

Kobe? Meh. Don't need to get into it. Ya know, he's gone soon, just like Stat. If Kobe was a Knick, I'd probably give birth to the antichrist myself and let my fetal spawn post their contempt of Kobe on the board. But he's a Laker, so I don't really care. This club could be 2-16 now with Kobe so I'd love it if he was here this season to help the cause, but the realist in me says it won't happen and he'll just have to torture Jeremy Lin the rest of the year.

Amare is indefensible. Briggs may be out of his mind from what I saw. Thinking effort alone = a valuable contribution is funny stuff. Stat couldn't alphabetize a three book library.

I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!

True. Kobe kind of likes playing the villain. It would be more eggregiously entertaining than airhead Melo's comments. Melo is one of the most boring people imaginable.

He is boring but I don't really care to listen to what he says. Kinda boring and innocuous but you guys love to make more out of it than it is.

Remember ... he is not that eloquent (or mr bright) so its silly to read into what he says.

Perhaps, but boring and innocuous has never been historically aligned with harmless or without bad intent. Not that I'm ascribing anything evil to what he says, but I do think the transparency of his primary concern for wealth has hurt this club. Committing to a loser like Melo is a curse the club is now under. His words are not uttered by the mind of a champion, so that's why it matters to me. They are the words of a self-absorbed prima donna. Maybe I've gone too far at times calling him a prick, but I do blame the franchise for selling its soul one more time to a non-entity of a person like Melo who happens to do only one thing well on the court.

Whatever I guess. He's a dolt. End of story.

You're right. Melo understood all of that.

What I think is also true is he is not really that confident of his abilities to make anything happen, yet he is still trapped in the persona of being the top dog. It must be a weird psychic head to live inside of being in NYC. I'd hate being that guy who knows they are not all that great. In that case, it makes perfect sense to take the money, play for a butt awful franchise and not risk going to Chicago and being exposed as just another ball player. Here, he gets to jack shots and let the legions of fans defend him by saying he is not surrounded by talent, hence he needs to jack shots.

Melo is just self-aware to realize all of this and take the money. In which case, he did what he should do, because he is not a champ and this was a once in a lifetime payday for an overall mediocre ballplayer. I can't blame him for that as you say.

The franchise? Well, they're the ultimate chumps. Phil is looking like a big-time loser already. Signing Melo like he did was pure capitulation and zero spine. Gutless.

Go to Chicago and leave 50 million on the table? And maybe still looking like a chump? Chicago has issues and all the blame goes on Melo?

C'mon. rank him anywhere you want but he made the right move. There is no question that he did.

Also, phil and Dolan are not sending a half billion dollar cow out of the building. Who are we kidding?

The dude sells tickets ... case closed. Now lets see what they put around him this time, they fukked that up last time and I don't know if they will have another chance.

We are stuck with him and you are dreaming if you actually thought that they would let him go. Now you have your hate guy ... I am jealous.

You are exceedingly elegant and on the money tonight sir.

I agree with it all. I'm not burying my head in the sand and saying he is an awful human being for taking the money. For all of the reasons you and I state it was the move he had to make. And yes, he's a narcissist and it pains me to have him be the core player.

I'm more fatigued than driven by contempt at this point; just flattened by this long, grueling wait for a relevant team.

The existential question becomes what am I rooting for? Do I keep waiting for Godot?

I don't buy tickets. I don't use MSG cable. I don't really give Dolan any of my money. But at a certain point my eyeballs may have to rest elsewhere. This is getting painful to watch.

Maybe the only solution is to take the rest of the season off, not even look at the results and wait and see what happens next year. I was not just spoofing FireWoodson with my set of Addiction GIFs. I was copping to my chitty addiction to this team. I feel doity.

Yea ... its horrible to be a knick fan right now but its also quite entertaining. I need to watch every game like a 40 virgin watching General Hospital. I find the knicks and the politics surrounding them quite theatrical.

I am lukewarm on Melo because like a stupid homer I still hold out hope that he can get to 58+ TS and average > 5 assists a game. He can do it with ease and that pisses the shyt out of me. Slowly I am getting angrier and angrier at him though he always has my attention. The dude is polarizing ... just look at this board.

I say that I want to tank but I hate tanking ... I am too competitive. I see a missed pass or non team oriented basketball and I cringe. Fuk the tank ... lets play good basketball.

To me it all starts with sharing the ball and we are terrible at that. We reluctantly pass out of the post like we have a gun to our heads. All our players would benefit if the ball moved faster out of the double teams.

We also NEEEEEEEEED just one good freakin guard ... ugh!

Shump (you can't excel if you are the worst on the league and taking it to the hole). Way over rated defensively.
Thj (I could be wrong here but I have said this all along. Don't see it ... too streaky and weak minded - sell high and fast cause I am not sure that playing him at this point makes his stock rise)
JR (don't know why but I have a crazy feeling that Phil takes on this challenge and can make him serviceable to good - I know ... my homer-ism ...)
Dalembert is plain terrible (sorry yellow)
Stat has actually surprised me ... can't believe I said that. See ya!
Larkin plays defense which is nice but he can't finish (gonner anyway)
Prigs ... to old and awful on defense. Can shoots lights out if we moved the ball out of the double teams.
Jose - I think he may be my type of player
Cole - no idea what he did wrong to not get PT
Wear - nice bench player ... smart with the ball
Early - thought it was an excellent pick. looks like a smart player who may surprise
Bargnani - makes me seeth that the knicks could make this move. It had to have been fixed. Off to Europe perhaps next year or maybe in Israel with Amare. So long fare well I bid to say goodbye ba ba da da ...

I hated Tyson more than anyone. Thought he was a fraud and his offensive liabilities did not show up in the stat sheet. So far it looks like we lost this trade though I would really like to see what we have in early and that greek freak before I complete my judgement.

I am lukewarm on Melo because like a stupid homer I still hold out hope that he can get to 58+ TS and average > 5 assists a game. He can do it with ease and that pisses the shyt out of me. That's right, his lackadaisical application of his talent to the game is what is so infuriating. Most criticisms, including off-court evaluations, would vanish overnight if he really applied himself. But Melo is a lazy sod when it comes to working on his craft. Maybe that is what Amare the defensive stopper was referring to.

That's sort of why I can still be into a close game and enjoy a win, though I now relish the losses as I want that pick. But, nah, I can't get up for them now like you might.

To me it all starts with sharing the ball and we are terrible at that. We reluctantly pass out of the post like we have a gun to our heads. All our players would benefit if the ball moved faster out of the double teams. Yet many seem unwilling to concede this point. It is obviously why we are 4-14 instead of 8-8. We wouldn't rule the world this season, but we'd probably squeak into the playoffs simply if Stat and Melo knew how to play the game properly. People say "uh you can't blame Melo, he's the only one who is good on this team". BS. Melo is barely competent as a player. He's a scorer. When he moves the ball, I've seen him make wonderful assists. He has all the tools, but he's still a black hole too often to care any longer.

We also NEEEEEEEEED just one good freakin guard ... ugh! Yes. Pretending we don't need one because we are going to be a triangular kingdom is cuckoo talk. Need a better penetrating, dishing PG bad.

Shump (you can't excel if you are the worst on the league and taking it to the hole). Way over rated defensively. Viagra wearing off? He may have peaked already.
Thj (I could be wrong here but I have said this all along. Don't see it ... too streaky and weak minded - sell high and fast cause I am not sure that playing him at this point makes his stock rise) Get him on a six game player of the week scoring streak and unload him fast.
JR (don't know why but I have a crazy feeling that Phil takes on this challenge and can make him serviceable to good - I know ... my homer-ism ...) Part of my hubris theory
Dalembert is plain terrible (sorry yellow) Awww, you're a meanie. Actually, I'd like Sam as insurance deep into the rotation on a good club.
Stat has actually surprised me ... can't believe I said that. See ya! Stat is gearing up to dominate the Ruckers League. Have fun!
Larkin plays defense which is nice but he can't finish (gonner anyway) Crack Baby!
Prigs ... to old and awful on defense. Can shoots lights out if we moved the ball out of the double teams. I think Pablo would look fantastic as the head on a Pez dispenser.
Jose - I think he may be my type of player He's aight, but nothing profound. No confidence he will have any durability (which means no more ice skating parties with Bargs).
Cole - no idea what he did wrong to not get PT Sure should be ahead of Sam I Am at this point.
Wear - nice bench player ... smart with the ball Me likey. Destined to be GOAT
Early - thought it was an excellent pick. looks like a smart player who may surprise Surprised at the summary dismissals by many on this board. Seems kind of ignorant to speak so quickly on his prospects with so little time. I see a willing and maybe capable defender and a guy with much better drive potential than previously thought. He can shoot. I think he was a very good draft pick.
Bargnani - makes me seeth that the knicks could make this move. It had to have been fixed. Off to Europe perhaps next year or maybe in Israel with Amare. So long fare well I bid to say goodbye ba ba da da ... Barfnani is part of the grand Knicks tradition of execrable contracts that sit on their muffins ala James and Curry.

I hated Tyson more than anyone. Thought he was a fraud and his offensive liabilities did not show up in the stat sheet. So far it looks like we lost this trade though I would really like to see what we have in early and that greek freak before I complete my judgement. I disliked Tyson after last season. He's become all fake hustle here. Contract year may have worked for us too instead of Dallas, but I've said before the time to trade him was mid-season last year when there were serious knocks on the door. However, ThaNasty kind of blew my mind in that game against Lakers DLeague. Was it Nard who said he looked like crap? Say what? Anyway, I think he could be our PF, so that means we might be able to focus on Center and PG and SG positions now. Would be nice to be right for once (the Knicks; I'm always right).
