Got to make it to the game last night, and without a working computer, got my very first look at our new look Knicks.
Put me in the Samuel Dalembeast fanclub!
I considered him a throw in to the Tyson trade and only expected him to stick on the roster because of our (then) lack of size. Man was active, a presence in the middle, hitting jumpers, fighting down rebounds...everything I wished Tyson could be last season.
Ball movement looked good with both Dalembert and Calderon on the floor. Both guys looking to orchestrate from the post and perimeter.
Amar'e was the awkward piece last night. Never seemed to get into the flow of the offense. A couple nice moves down low, but even they felt against the grain.
Did JR take more than 1 shot in the first half? Looked very non-JR like for the first 2/3 of the game. My dad kept commenting on how weird it was to see him pass the ball that well. Then by the end of the 3rd quarter and the 4th, we were reminded of why we're done with him. Can we make THJ the 6th man already!?
I can go to war with the starting line up last night: Jose/Shump/Melo/Acy/Dalembert. Shump looked relatively comfortable as a secondary ball handler, and my Baylor Bear Acy is a nice glue guy to the unit. Didn't do anything too special, but seemed to fit in and not disrupt the offense. Put a couple bodies on the floor last night with hard, clean fouls. Can we bring back the No Layup Rule, finally?
Jason Smith looked like a great pick up by Phil. Did his job and knocked down the open shots when the ball came his way.
And my god is Larkin quick!
