I think Phil was one of the best options we could've made, but i still don't have blind faith in the guy. I think it's an excellent start. Melo is probably gone if not for Phil if you ask me. Still, the way Knicks fans are acting it's as if he can't do any wrong. I think it's a fair thread. Time will tell.

it's not a fair thread, it's a thread where one guy he likes to hear himself talk.

Uh, he's barely gotten any of the people for any of the jobs that he wants them to do aside from Derek Fisher....who was his 2nd choice. That was with him offering the same or comparable money. Hell, we still have our star dangling in the wind who Phil wants to keep. That's why I'm disappointed.

And he's hardly lucked out on many either- just Kerr. It will happen again- Phil is not a god, he doesn't control peoples minds- sometimes he will target someone for a job and they won't accept it, it doesn't mean he's a disaster, it happens to ever single GM. Lebron didn't return to Riley, Lowry wouldn't sign with the Heat for far less than the Raptors- does that mean Riley is crap?

Dude, stop with the hyperbole. No where am I saying that Phil is an outright disaster. All I'm saying is that I'm concerned. You and the other members of the peanut gallery are acting like Phil is some kind of diety. Can no one question him?

You're well within your right to question him, but why does that mean that no one can disagree without seeming like they worship him?
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Of course we have doubts about even god running the knicks. We are damaged and sore from the starphuching we get year after year.

The doubt and hate is a self defense mechanism we put in place to guard our emotions. Its why the MeloHate spews over.
Nalod do hate him the Mooby Worship but when you see him for what he is and how "clumsy" the roster is then one has to temper ones enthusiasm.

What really drives up expectations? Around here some homeristic, Amare telling us what we want to hear, and perhaps our own desire?

NardDog, the biggest thing that PHil brings is not the "Result" but the decision making process and thats how you make changes. Phil has a balance act right now and the worst thing he can do is acquiesce to Melo right now and further ruin the future potential. This is why it was good we did not "dump" amare or bargnani which has to happen when you pair them with an asset.

We pandered to Ewing for to long as an example of fear to lose the star player and we can see in hindsight it was the wrong approach. With the current CBA there are limits and the new way going forward higher player movement which means we have to stay flexible. Players shake loose and we have to be ready. Often the best moves are ones we don't make.

I don't know if we keep our cap low or stars like Durant shake loose but if we have movable parts then we have opportunity.
Be cool.

+1... Sorry but, Wtf are you talking about Nard? Phil is the greatest positive the Knicks have. Let's see how this shakes out before we start the sky falling threads.

Dude, whatever. My apologies for questioning the great and all-powerful Phil Jackson.

Dude that wasnt the point. Criticism is fine in fact its good. However give the man a least a year before saying he sucks. Steve Kerr wasnt exactly a big loss since he didnt have a track record. The Mavs trade was a steal. We got rid of FluTyson and Fat Felton and upgraded the pg position, got larkin(first round pick) ellington, dalembert, and draft picks which turned out to be Early(first round talent) and the greek freak 2( raw but nba ready defender/athlete)

Thank you for clarifying another man's point, whose intentions you couldn't possibly know.

There's a difference between disagreeing and what was going on here. Phil was just referred to as "the greatest positive thing the Knicks ever had" and was being compared to Pat Riley, a man who has won 3 rings as a NBA front office executive. And Phil was being defended as such.

What really seems to be going on with this thread is that you were disappointed in the trade with Dallas and created threads (and numerous comments in other threads) to voice this displeasure. When your view was refuted by almost the entire Ultimateknicks community.....you now seem to have decided to voice your displeasure directly towards PJ........unfortunately you are being refuted again by almost the entire UK community because......

A) PJ has been pointing or part of successful/championship organizations since entering the NBA. Although he has not been a GM/Executive.....people will generally give him the benefit of doubt until proven otherwise due to his track record as a coach.

B) 4.5 Months is way too soon to be bashing a new GM's job performance especially given the decades of ineptitude that this organization has shown......I suspect you know this.

C) PJ was handed a complete mess of a roster/coaching staff in terms of the pieces fitting together. Further, the salary cap situation was also a disaster.
