I think he takes less than the max but comes back. He looks really good doing that. He could leave for a better situation and he could take more money.
Personally i dotn care how Melo looks i just care about the Knicks and the team ahveing a long period od sustained success without being hamstrung by the cap
I get the impression you really don't want him back.
Well your impression is wrong. I want him back if he takes less thsi way it helps the team. believe it or not Crush i do like Melo and I know you are a bigtime melo fan but i am a Knicks fan above all else. i mean look at Duncan and Dirk who have had better careers than melo and they take less to help the team. So in closing i would liek to ahve melo back btu at least takes less money this way Phil can build a long standing competitive team unlike the previos 15 years of hell

Well I didn't like the trade and was outspoken about it at the time. However, Melo has won me over with his play. Also, the ridiculous personal attacks on the guy here are hard for me not to react to when I watch the games and see what Melo does and what he is up against. I think everyone here wants the Knicks to win.

Okay, people- so if you were Melo what would you honestly do?

a) Sign for the max in NY
b) take less in NY to increase the chances of winning
c) flee to the Bulls for less money but maybe a better shot
d) team up with Dwight and Harden
e) sign for a max with the Lakers?
f) Dallas

Pretty much how I'm seeing it too. This is gonna be a long weekend...
I trust Phil. I dont think he cares about making Melo look like a "hero" he is just looking to improve the team quickly. I admit i dont agree with give Melo that much money personally but i do trust Phil and if he does give him that i'll support it

Yeah but I think he knows that Melo would like to look like a hero for taking less when offered the max
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

When did I attack Melo? I actually defend him quite a bit BUT i dont think he is immune to crticism. I think he is a top 3 scorer, a great rebounder since he plays a 4 against bigger guys, and is tough. However i also try to be objective about his flaws in other parts of the games liek defense and getting otehsr involved. I mean im sorry but saying a guy shouldnt get 129 million isnt a "attack" Lets face it even lebron and durant who are teh best players in the game by miles dont get that much

I guess you may be right as weird as that sounds. I mean i guess if I was in melo shoes i would wnat money but i would takes less not to eb a hero but just to help build a team. I mean Duncan is a respected player not just because he is a Hall of Famer but because he takes less money all the time and the Spurs continue to do well.

Ok cool. I only see a few who do that. Most people are pretty fair when it comes to melo.

Phil has said the max won't stop him from improving the Knicks. It would only change the options but you have to accept that Phil has weighed all the options and he even brought up new revenue the league is likely to bring in making things less tight financially. I'm not worried if Melo gets the Max. If we target cheaper options in particular draft picks or young vets that aren't max level players you can still build a great team if you know what you're doing.

(c) i would leave new york since i am breaking down physically and need better players than me, such as noah, to play with. chicago might be best but i risk alienating the huge rose fanbase if rose comes back, and since i am not a good defender i may anger my coach.

still, that is a better opportunity for me to show that i'm serious about winning instead of waiting a year and playing the martyr when things don't pan out. and since i won't accept anything less than 20 million, i am virtually assured of never getting a ring in new york-- unless the 2015 draft pick is a once-in-a-generation player.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

dissapointed.. my life is too good to be depressed... but the NBA has a lot of teams and a lot of basketball to watch.. enjoy another 4 years or so of mediocrity...

how does that make any sense.

The Max was there all along. Melo just wants to jump through hoops so he can feel loved and empowered. I'm totally against giving a max deal to any player including LeBron these are guaranteed contracts one would think they learned from Houston and Amare, Rose and all those that never lived up to their max deals.

lebron and durant are the only players I would give a max to...

Any Knick fan should be depressed, Yes the Knicks will be better next year but this deal officially closes the door on this team winning a title for the foreseeable future. You cant pay Melo this type of money with this roster. If you had young talent that could offset his deal you could but the Knicks dont

don't worry I think some of these fans are getting a kickback from carmelo's check because they only seem to be concerned with him getting his money.. forget actually winning..

funny thing is fans got mad when amare opted in to get his money.. yet tell carmelo to " get your money man".. LOL.. go figure..
