Hello all. Shocker fan here and a new Knicks fan as of last season thanks to Murry being on the team. Here is an article with a little background on Cle as a person. It was written by our beat writer...

http://www.kansas.com/2014/03/16/3349827/on-wings-like-eagles-early-rises.html

You got a heck of a player. As you saw with Kentucky, when he is really dialed in he shines. Even at 23 he isn't close to his ceiling yet. The improvements he made between year 1 and 2 with the Shox was incredible. Marshall really gets kids who WANT to work hard. Rest assured he will be working hard to prove any naysayers wrong. He loves playing with a chip on his shoulder.

Someone asked if Murry and Cle ever played together. No they didn't. They both played for and were recruited by. Marshall. They both know each other obviously due to the Wichita St connection. But they haven't played together.

You would know better than me but it seems unlikely Murry signs with the Knicks again, or no? Seems like they brought in some good young guards like Larkin? I would love to see Murry stay though. I know he loves it there and you won't find a more loyal guy.

Hey looked what happened last time there were 2 ex-Wichita St players on the Knicks roster...they won a title!!!! Lol worked once before with Nate Bowman and Dave "the rave" Stallworth!!! LETS DO IT!

Thanks for the link SHOCKER. It was a good read. A lot of it confirmed what many of us already knew. The kid is tough. As for Murry, man...It's not looking good. He's probably the best defender we have at PG, but now we have Calderon, Larkin and Prigioni along with Shump, Hardaway Jr. and JR. There'a also a chance that Shannon Brown is brought back due to his familiarity with the triangle. I'd like to see Tour'e back, but it doesn't look likely unless there are more roster moves made.

I hear that Fish and Phil actually really like Murry. He's the kind of guard the want in terms of his defense and he might be able to improve his jumper enough to stick. He's gonna get a shot to prove what he can do.

It's possible. I'm just saying that moves need to be made to the roster first.

When I first watched Early two years ago I thought he was a Ron Artest type player. He looks on TV to weigh much more than 210 and hes a solid SF defender on what was a super college team. Early has the ability to be a Caron Butler with better D in this league. One thing we should not make a mistake with is too make sure we sign him for the full 4 years. He's a 17 pick who went 34.

This kid has real potential and legit skills already. He can fit right into the Triangle right now. He does what I actually want Melo to do more of and that is move without the ball, catch and shoot, slash to the basket. I think he's a steal of the draft. He came up big in the big games which is a great sign to me. He'll be coming into a better more nurturing environment than past Knicks teams with Phil and Fish here.

He's more explosive than McCarty and he has a more developed post game. McCarty may have had a better handle as a rookie.

He has an inside outside game similar to Caron's they both had very similar per minute numbers in their last year in college Early's a better athlete and an inch taller but they are relatively the same size.

i mentioned much earlier in this thread that he reminds me of caron.. i don't see the mccarty comparison at all. strong bulldogish type player. midrange game, has the ability to d it up.

A rawer version of Gereld Wallace with a better shot (when he was in the league) and a mix of James Posey without the developed shot is about my opinion for Early

The important thing is CE has legit talent and should be able to contribute right away. I really like the pick given the style we'll be playing. He's a guy that has skills that fit into a team oriented offense like the Triangle. He's active without the ball, slashes and finishes strong. I'm pumped to see how he does this year

i like the fact that the triangle hides his weakness (creating shots and dribbling)
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I see a very poor man's Corey Maggette. I simply don't like this pick.

Maggette was a demon earlier in his Clippers days. He played D, got to the foul line, and had a decent field goal %. The Knicks would be lucky to get that type of production from the 34th pick.

I don't understand how anyone can be disappointed with this pick! This dude fell to us in the 2nd rd and was the highest rated player left on the board. This kid stepped up his game against top competition in big games. If he can give us NBA caliber SF performance it's a good pick. We had some contribution from THJ and I hope for a similar if not better year from CE. The reasons are simple. He has a game that fits what Phil said he wants. He wants to push the tempo, move and share the ball as well as play aggressive D. CE is a good athlete and plays both ends. Seems like a good pick to me for 34.

From everything I've seen this guy has major issues sharing the ball and playing defense. From bad shot selection to poor court vision I don't care for him. Hope he proves me wrong.

This is true. Plus that was a spur of the moment comparison. He has more range than Maggette but doesn't seem to have Corey's handles.

1 serving of Zen (Phil Jackson) and one Philosophical BBall Grasshopper is a recipe for masterhood.
Don't look past the chemistry of what just took place (and also don't forget Early is a NY guy.

This has the potential to be much much more than what we see on the surface, and the surface is mighty bright on his own.

As Briggs said, we just got #17 essentially. Lock this kid up. No more runaways...
It is going to be damn fun watching what unfolds over the next year.
