what was he saying about the rumor?

Just that Golden State still appeared to want Chandler - and he was saying Phil should do this deal.

it's huge value....

maybe golden state thinks they can move on with Green at power fwd...Tyson chandler fits what they do especially with the slap out rebounds with the deadeye shooters they have in the back court.

David Lee fits what we are trying to do now....yeah we had him before and he didn't fit because we sucked as a franchise at the time. The Isiah years were some embarrassing days and then he had D'antoni and the whole Lebron decision purge that he fell victim to....it's a different time. David Lee fits the team concept we want to build now.

So if this went down I would totally understand why and would be all for it

What are we trying to do now that David Let fits? Or team concept will require two way players. David Lee cares more about positioning himself for rebounds than playing defense on the ball.

Are you referencing his defense as a knick?

I believe the defense can be masked in the system. Mark Jackson got golden state to play defense. David Lee was a pay of that.

His abilities in offense, his boards and his open court fame will be the most valuable. I can see the Knicks starting the triangle with him.

Amare could become a center or continue his super dub role as 1st big man of the bench.

from a hoops standpoint I like the deal alot. We get a pretty high end prospect (who is Kyrie Irving's best friend) in Barnes and a very useful player in Lee.

It just comes down to the salary cap and Phil's plan. If we are going the cap space route than this doesnt make sense. Barnes and Lee combine for close to a max player and I would much rather offer that to Aldridge or another star guy.

However with all the FAs out there it also means there is a huge market for expiring contracts and the Knicks have a ton of those.

Im kind of 50/50 on the deal. I look at it like this, if we can get rid of Smith and Felton before 2015 then the deal will be beautiful. Bc there 12mil combine will be on our books for 2015 anyway. So Lee 15 mil wont be that bad. Melo and Lee will have us contending IMO, next year. Brings that second scorer. Barnes can score and defend. His growth got derailed with the AI addition. I would sign off on it only if we get rid of Smith and Felton.

Barnes as a project could work. Dude is very young.

A project like Barnes would be a great get for the Knicks especially controlling him on a low deal for 3 seasons. Is Lee tradeable in his final year if a player we want opens up in FA in 2015?

I really like the idea of getting Barnes and pairing him with Hardaway and whoever we get in the draft next season. If we get a pick or 2 for Melo suddenly we have a young core. Even if Melo is still here its not that bad of a trade although it hurts the chances of getting a FA to pair with Melo . I wasnt crazy about Aldridge or Rondo anyway though

Dlee was our best player and his defense was suspect because he was the last line of defense to the rim and at 6-9 was undersized to play the 5.

If he gets in foul trouble and on the bench he is not getting rebounds is he?

Dlee put up nice numbers because we sucked, but he still put up nice numbers. This guy with 25-30 minutes can give you 10 and 8 and his ball movement is excellent.

for all his flaws david lee is ambidextrous and an excellent passer, at least facing the basket and driving. i bet he could excel in the triangle as a passing big man.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I just don't see to many great offensive players that are also great defensive players. Other than Duncan, No one on the spurs will make the all defensive team.

So Why are we talking about guys that don't play Defense, thats like 85% of the league

This is why I wonder why GS even extended Bogut's contract for another 3 years despite his injury problems/health concerns

Now Lee does have weakness's but he also has been one of the most consistent players in the entire league since from the year he was traded as a Knick till now

What will they do with both Bogut and Chandler?
I doubt they want to even keep Bogut but don't think anyone would take his contract given all the FA's and the CBA and GS has traded majority of the future picks allowed

Pretty sure they are using Chandler's expiring maybe with Klay Thompson and draft picks for Kevin Love?
Though Klay Thompson and Curry, with Love would create a create shooting Triangle

So unless they can trade Iggy in some sort a a deal, I feel he is expendable and wasn't needed from the start
Jack was a big part of GS's 1st year success, his ability to defend 2-3 positions, play on and off the ball, allowing Curry to concentrate on running around screens with Klay spreading the floor as well
He is older but I think they need that type of G, that can also penetrate/shoot a 3, maybe Lance Stephenson would be perfect in addition to Kevin Love
Maybe the new SPLASH BROTHERS will be Curry and Love, without Klay, though I think that they need all 3 or at least a Lance Stephenson type of player

I like Lee though, though if we add him, we likely will win more games, and not be tanking, so we would need some draft picks to compensate, even so I have to consider other options

I'd rather take the package being offered by Boston if I'm Minnesota. Thompson and Barnes, but they're not taking Minnesota to the playoffs. Sometimes you just gotta go full rebuild.

whoa, they haven't been in full rebuild already? That's sad. They need to do a better job on draft night.

Yeah, they should go ahead and draft another point guard, before signing Patrick Mills to a five-year deal.

How about dealing Amare's expiring for Josh Smith and an $8 million trade exception? I'm start to think that Josh Smith would excel at the 5 spot, playing so close to the hoop. And you have to ask yourself, does he bring anything less than Tyson Chandler in the skills department? He and Lee would be a great big man duo.

I think Minnesota is only posturing, to extract more picks from Boston. There is no way a rebuilding team would take Golden State's package.
