Speak for yourself. None of us here are planning to buy an NBA franchise. Magic is, and that's not how a future NBA owner should conduct himself.

I see, which franchise has been put up for sale? Untill he is an owner he's just a fan. Anyway, so you're saying that it's OK to be happy a coach gets fired if you aren't buying a team, but the act of buying a team turns it into classless. Logical fallacy.

Wrong. I mentioned in my first post that it was classless regardless, and that a potential owner shouldnt behave this way.
You brought up the fan angle. I responded that he was more than just a fan but a possible owner. It was in bad form either way.

Whether someone is a possible owner or isn't doesn't play into how classy what he said is or isn't. That established, nearly everyone has stated derogatory opinions of coaches here and across all fandom in all sports. Maybe you are more noble than everyone else but if everyone bashes coaches, the term classy vs unclassy is meaningless.

I just mentioned twice in the last post how it was classless regardless of whether or not he is a potential owner. Magic is not just a fan, a potential owner, but an NBA legend, a former Laker, and for him to express himself in that manner about another member of the league was in uncharacteristically poor taste. How many tweets have you seen like this from an NBA legend about a coach? If it was considered acceptable behavior we would see it much more often.

Stating something repeatedly doesn't make it true. If it was really deemed classless than more people than well...yourself would refrain from coach bashing. Former NBA legends have bashed many people..whether they were coaches or not doesn't make it classy or not. In fact whether they were legends or just played on the JV team shouldn't matter on whether its classy or not. I don't know if 'legends' have or not..if they do its not really front page news.

I am repeatedly stating that Magic being a potential owner doesn't make what he said classy or unclassy, so we are in agreement here. There is no need to keep bringing this up as if we disagree on that point.

There is a big difference between a casual fan whose remarks will go unnoticed and a man whose words are spread around the globe, to tens if not hundreds of millions of people. Words that disrespect and embarrass a coach who didn't deserve to be talked about in this manner, especially since the Lakers lack of success wasn't all on him. You may not believe that class plays into how you should talk about another member of the NBA family when you are an NBA legend or even a former player who will still make the news, but I do, so we will have to agree to disagree.

Magic did tarnish his brand. It was a very petty, small minded thing to say. The lesson I'd teach my kid about this is that everybody is human and people make mistakes.
Rose is not the answer.

We will- I just feel everyones making a big deal about nothing- Magic basically said he didn't like D'Antoni and is glad he's gone. We all new he didn't like D'Antoni so we all would have assumed he was glad he was gone. It's hardly the end of the world- I doubt even D'Antoni gives a s***!

Hopefully going forward, cities and fans should be banned from celebrating at games when their team wins or when an opponent misses a shot, because it's classless, celebrating another team and players misfortune so publicly.

Magic has played the game, was a superstar, the whole HIV thing was very public and he had to turn a deaf ear to much hate. He failed as a coach and the media backlash. He is a TV personality, business man and ambassador to the league and was for the lakers for many years. He is also now in the elite class being a part owner and very public figure of a major league baseball team.

It is surprising to a lot of people that he would stoop to that level and seemingly its out of character. Im a fan, but I don't have a "following" and stature he does. Nothing wrong with fans being happy to see a coach leave. Every team eventually wants its coach gone. Its an emotional reaction to a team not winning. While nobody really thinks MDA is totally without some level of personal "failure", even he admits his short coming (hindsight), I, like many think magic would not succumb to that level of emotionality given who he is, what he is, and his experience!

Magic is starting to get on my nerves with his thirst for attention.

At least Barkley had the guts to call out his buddy:

Wow, what a piece of **** move. Classless.

Dude, stop, you're making yourself look worse and worse. So if you had a fight with your kid, she was mad because you didn't come to her recital, and she goes on Facebook and tells everybody what a piece of **** dad you are, you'd be ok with that? Because hey! You hate bull****, and your kid's being honest by putting you on blast on the internet, right? Come on, man.

Things don't work out. At the end of the day, Dantoni was just doing his job. He could have said something to the tune of "time for a new day", instead he's happy that somebody resigned because he had a miserable year? This douchebag is acting like MDA was intentionally sabotaging the Lakers.

Eventually, this man is going to be looking for a new job, and when an NBA legend is trashing him, on the INTERNET, that's not a good look. The sheep that can't form their own opinions who follow him and don't know the context of the whole situation will give him **** wherever else he decides to go, and that's messed up. They won't care that he was coaching a D-League team, only that he sucked. Also, he's a colleague of his, he might bump into him one day...give him some respect.

And newsflash to Magic: you sucked as a coach too. And your late night show was trash also. I'm sure he wouldn't take it lightly if somebody in his circle gloated every time one of his business ventures failed by tweeting "So happy Magics ****ty Starbucks went kapoot..Dunkin' Donuts ftw".

Really? So who ever thinks something should diarrhea it on twitter?

Its more respectable to shut up and stop begging for attention.

LOL.

This is an example when "keepin' it real" should be "shut the **** up and keep your opinion to yourself".

You wanna gloat, because I got fired, because you're happy about it and can't hide your feelings because you only speak the truth and nothing but the truth? Expect a smack in the face, because duhh...that's how I feel and wanted to express myself, because I don't want to be a hypocrite, ya know?

Magic shouldn't have said it, it was a classless move but its yesterdays news, not something that will or should stain Magic....But, I think someone said it earlier in this thread.....Social media is gonna be the death of some of these athletes.....

I don't have kids, but if I did I wouldn't be bothered if they went kid went on Facebook and blasted me (don't give a crap about social media)- what would concern me is would be that they were really hurt and pissed off with me, so I'd probably sit down with them and work through it. I'd rather my kid did that than give a fake smile, and pretend every things fine, when it's not- at least if people are honest with each other, you know where you stand, you know there's a problem and you can work on it. Too many relationships get ruined by unspoken stuff that builds and builds until it reaches breaking point.

Besides which MDA has thrown so many people under the bus in interviews, so he can hardly complain when people do it back to him.

Do you really believe fans are going to read Magic's tweet and as a result trash MDA for the rest of his life? Give people some credit. Like I said, people are exaggerating this thing to ever more ridiculous levels.

Magic's tweet didn't call MDA anything- he just said he was happy he was gone- that's just the way he feels- it's not like he directed abuse at him or called him names. To go back to your example of the angry kid, a more accurate analogy would be the kid going on Facebook and posting "dad missed recital, I am so pissed off"- I don't see whats wrong with that.

Magic Tweet: "Happy Days Are Here Again. MDA Resigns. I Could Not Be Happier"
