True. No reason to get personal Melo can do what he wants. Hopefully he signs back here but if he doesn't this is a free country. The only thing I hope is that if he has his mind made up to go to Chicago. Let's see if we can work out a sign and trade where we take back boozer both 2014 picks and a 2016. That really helps the bulls and if we lose melo it will help us rebuild faster

Would probably be the best case scenario other him staying for less money of course.

Chicago can always use the 1st rounders on draft and stash players.

Don't know how I'd feel about Boozer though...

Taking back boozer helps facilitate us getting 3 first round picks We can trade boozer for something else or just keep him for the year

Taking back Boozer is not terrible. It just means we would really be tanking (which I'm ok with).

Would you not want to make a play for Taj?

If we're tanking then Melos gone for sure

Yeah but we can keep him and do a pretty good job of tanking too!

Might as well keep Woodson while we're at it

And i love Melo.

You can see that the personal that Jackson is bringing is a combination of Bulls, and Lakers staff, this is the first selling point for Melo.

The second, a new coach, new system and new role players that will support Melo, as he plays the role of Jordan/Bryant.

If all the above is not enough for Melo, yes, he can leave NY, just let us know as soon as you can, you screwed us once in the mid season, you eff owe us

It's not just you, but I find it funny with a lot of fans who will profess their love for melo.. "and I love melo" "I love melo" "don't get me wrong I love melo"...

yet yall will say in the next breath things like, "You screwed us in the mid season" ... well how can you love a player that screws your team.. and he has done so more than just once....

I thought we were supposed to be knicks fans first.... which is why I say, I don't think some knick fans care if the knicks win, just as long as they win with someone " leading the knicks" " dragging us into the playoffs" "carrying us on his back".. what the hell ever happened to rooting for a team full of good players who play for each other..and win?

Really?
It's like saying "I love the Knicks but they suck right now". Saying "I love Melo" doesn't mean he puts him above the team. You had your favorite player before the trade. Were you more a fan of his or a fan of the Knicks?

not sure how saying " I love the knicks but they suck" applies to anything that is said here.... my point is, how can you love a player that has sabotaged your team? sorry man but that analogy sucks... doesn't apply..

My favorite player doesn't even play on the knicks.. I had players I liked, when they were traded, I still wanted what was best for the knicks...,I would never want whats best for a player over the team... you have a problem with that?

Melo's a sore topic here to say the least and sometimes posters feel the need to preface that they don't actually hate him in order to no be lumped in with a certain crowd.

well the problem is people lumping people.. maybe if we focus more on the topics and less on what posters like, and who they are, this would not be a problem...

the point is, if you are a fan of the team, you should not be worrying about how people feel about one player.. carmelo should not be a sore topic, but he is because people are trying to force some knicks fans from expressing their displeasure with him and how he has pretty much hurt this franchise with how he got here, his lack of leadership and his big MOUTH!!

Does this sound the post of a person whos not worried about how people feel about one player?

NO.. it sounds like a person who is confused as to why people can't grasp the fact that if you are a knick fan, that should be the most important thing.... for example teamball since you seem to not get whats going on here..

If I say the KNICKS suck.. rarely do I get any opposition, maybe a few here and there..

If i say carmelo is a playoff loser..(which is a DAMN FACT) I get basically what amounts to internet death threats... see the difference?

I don't care if you love carmelo... I actually sympathize with some of his fans.. but don't tell me I am not a fan because I don't like this dude.. I have stated why I don't like him and why I don't want him on this team, and it is all basketball related.. I'm sorry but that sounds exactly like someone who's concerned with how people feel about one player. Him saying "I love Melo" - a feeling that he has (though obviously not literal) - spawned your post.

I honestly just disagree with the belief that anyone here wants Melo to have more success than this team. If he leaves, most people here probably won't talk about him anymore.

Honestly, with the cap moving up to 5m, it actually hurts us because now many more teams will be in the play of signing for Melo without giving out assets to trade for him
Why would a team sign and trade for Melo if they can just sign him, especially if Melo is willing to take "less"
I don't think we will be getting back as much as we want for Melo at this point because of the above

Melo needs much talent around him, I don't see how we can ever succeed unless Melo is willing to take a pay cut to stay in on the NYK's
However, if he is added to a team full of talent, versatile players, good defensive players, and other "ALL STAR's, he could be a great addition to go with their core

I think Dolan has given full control to Phil Jackson, Dolan has previously said "PHIL JACKSON, Will be making all basketball decisions"
Why hire Phil Jackson at 10-12m per year if Dolan is going to pay Melo the max possible that will leave little to no room for improvement, something he can do without Phil Jackson

I see Phil Jackson offering a deal constructed something like

Next season (because of the shoulder injury Melo might reconsider NOT opting out of his contract when he realizes NO ONE will pay him a MAX contract)
Maxish, 23-25m+ (Melo can NOT opt out and just resign a 3 year deal)

23-25m+ (depending on if he opts out and resigns or just extends his deal)
10m (2015-16 UFA's like Kevin Love, Aldridge, Dragic, Parker, and many good STAR's and great role players many others)
10m (most notable FA's would be both Durant and Noah who would be perfect in the triangle, especially if we can get Love in 2015)
MAXISH
MAXISH (if extended and not resigned he will not get the extra year and going CA's history, he will want that extra year)

This deal would still be in the 100m range for 5 years, I honestly don't see CA getting a better deal than this, while this leave room for Phil Jackson to surround CA with the STAR's, Role players, and talent needed to conted
Maybe a player option or team option for Melo after 2016

Houston and Bulls could trade for Melo but they could also just clear salary by using the amnesty and/or trading other players to another team for a trade exemption to clear up room as well. As for the Rockets, does anyone know FOR SURE if both Lin and Asik's contract next summer would be 8m+ or the 15m? It makes a big difference for both Houston and NYK's as possible trading partners

Nothing agaisnt melo but i think both sides need a change. Next year most likely is gonna be another tough year BUT at least we have out draft pcik for a change and cam get a top pick. Then we have a ton of cap space for the 2015 FA class

My personal opinion is we are best served retaining me!o at a decent number. The worst case is if he leaves for no compensation Even though I'm skeptical of his signing back I hope he does

I think I read somewhere yesterday that the first year max that he can get is 22 million and change.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

I am almost positive that lin and asik count as 8 mil each on the cap but are owed 15 mil each. They would have counted as the full 15 mil on the cap for the bulls and Knicks.

Best case scenario for us is for rockets to get eliminated in the 1st or 2nd round. This way Morey would be susceptible to trading with us for Asik, Lin and Parsons.

You need his contract to make it work. I am eyeing Parsons and Lin and any picks we can get.

I dislike him because I like the knicks more.. this clown, JR smith are at the bottom of my basketball list.. and for good reasons..

Is this really that hard for you to follow or are you just pretending..

posters says he loves melo, although he admits that he is screwing his team.... I ask how can that be, I thought your love should be for the team first...

why is that so hard to understand? I responded not because i am concerned about his feelings for a player, but his seemingly lack of feeling for his team?

You're worried about his feelings for his team, yet you picked "your" team to lose ever single damn game in gampicker. Now that's love for your team!

actually I am not worried at all.., wrong choice of words, Just annoyed by the level of hypocrisy.. As far as me picking the knicks to lose.. that is called being realistic... I did pretty damn good on the game picker I would say....

for instance I love the jets, I also bet against the jets and made money as well...

I can seperate my love of a team vs reality... give it a try..

Papabear Says

TKF so you can seperate Love of team vs reality. Man thats good for someone like you. You are more like a person who sees reality as what you want it to be. The perfect TKF with a mental flaw. You are still day dreaming that Melo will be gone. Well let me tell you that Melo will be here for the next 5 years and longer. So what cha gonna do? What happened to the Pacers??

Melo's a sore topic here to say the least and sometimes posters feel the need to preface that they don't actually hate him in order to no be lumped in with a certain crowd.

not sure how saying " I love the knicks but they suck" applies to anything that is said here.... my point is, how can you love a player that has sabotaged your team? sorry man but that analogy sucks... doesn't apply..

First of all "concerned" and "worried" are synonyms and you did say you were concerned. Second, how is picking the knicks to lose every game realistic? When has 0-82 ever happened, that kind of record only exists in your sick Melo-obsessed fantasyland. Try a little harder next time...

Every thread about Melo turns into a thread about them. I wonder why...

I think melo is gone
