At the very minimum I want the Knicks to be at an asset level that is comparable to before we gave up the house for Melo. This might be unrealistic, but it is time to start using our leverage instead of having leverage only being used against us.

If morey can drop 30 million in salary in asik and lin on the Knicks and get melo to go with harden, and Howard I think he sees it as a win. Parsons makes this a decent deal for the Knicks. If he is included i don't think the Knicks get picks though.

Or, morey trades Lin and Asik to a team with space for a pick, then signs Melo and we get zilch.

Y'all want to phuch rockets over but fact is Melo can walk cuz other teams might be enable Rockets.

Agreed, melo is a 28 and 8 four, that is worth a lot. Getting two 30 million dollar rentals while locking up melo for them, just isn't a difference gaped by getting Parsons.

We should definitely get picks for the third best offensive player in the league behind Durant and LBJ.

I don't think teams with picks and space take on that kind of salary for Asik and Lin. Both are good players but this cba is harsh. Also, if a deal like that was out there I think minimally Asik goes at the deadline.

It would depend on Melo's salary, right? Lin, Asik, plus Chandler is about $30 mil. So Melo would have to be around there.

I'd have to imagine Melo would much rather to to Miami or Chicago but then he doesn't get the supermax

Honestly that deal makes sense. We get Lin, Parsons, Asik, a pick or two and then can move Tyson for a pick and be on our way. Let barfs go, sing a max guy... We could be pretty reloaded fast

Much better than signing an aging Melo to 20Mil+ and hoping and praying again that there is chemistry between the players and coach

Melo would only get the 4-year max deal if he agreed to a sign and trade with Houston. The Rockets would also essentially be hard-capped at the tax apron. (Which is 4 million above the tax line) in the new CBA, sign-and-trades don't include the bird-rights.

The only way I even look at this if I'm the Knicks is if I get them to take Smith and Felton too.

Houston is a really good organization. I am not sure where they are at with draft picks but they are one of the model franchises for using the dleague the right way. I think they could hit the apron and still continue to develop and acquire rotation guys. Houston isn't there yet in my opinion in regards to contending for the title. Melo gets them a lot closer.

As wildly inconsistent as jr is at least he's talented and makes an impact when playing well. Felton just sucks this point

Im thinking Barfs in the triangle is not a terrible thing. Melo, Barfs and Tyson works in my opinion.

Gasol is a free agent. In a two year deal for 12mm he could be a good value at age 33. Dude can put up 20 and 10 on any given night. Not a lot of NBA players that cans still do that.

We going after Lebron. Will we be successful? Tune in!

For what its worth I'd like to see Melo be uber successful here. We need to surround him like boston did with Pierce. Sometimes they can be rehabbed.

In his current salary we can get Asik, Lin, parsons, and Smith in return. If he gets a raise then rockets need to add another player to match. It's hard to trade large contracts. I think Houston has the best players with large contracts in exchange for melo

The media and casual garden fans will destroy this move. They will look at parsons as another David Lee. In the past Dolan would listen to these idiots but Phil knows basketball. I rather have a team that can do damage from multiple positions than retreads catering to one flawed player

^^^ lol, geez, i don't feel like arguing. Melo is the best player this team has had since Ewing. Creaming a side, the best move for the Knicks would him and a star.

*Geez, lin just beat out as the point guard for the third time, calm down......)

I'd need Canaan, the 2014 1st round pick and future picks included. If they agree, I'd really like the move and would make it without needing to trade Felton or JR. To be honest, we could easily dump both on Brooklyn for Marcus Thorton or an expirer if Billy King is still around. I'd then trade Tyson to the Thunder for Perkins, their two 2014 picks and a future pick. Come 2015, I'd target both Marc Gasol and Kevin Love.
