Other than McGrady those guys are back court players and I think you are wrong about Carter.

Barkley average 3.9 for his career and had many seasons close to 5. And he was not a small forward

Durant is the best shooter in the league yet every year he improves his assists numbers. This year 5.6, last year 4.6 (3.4 for career but getting better and better).

Any player that gets doubled as much as him has no excuse.

I don't think Melo touches Durant's assist numbers but what do you think he averages if you switch him out with Durant and put him on OKC?

right around 3 a game just like his career average.

I gather you don't place any blame on Melo here.

I think he takes bad shots. I also think for much of the year his teammates were ridiculously bad. I don't think that is the case in okc. You think the knick team this year is equal to okc.

Of course not! I also think that if Melo was on that team (or any team) he would be the same unwilling passer. He needs a coach with some balls to smack some sense into his narcissistic head. In Phil I trust.

And, I see where he makes some good passes and his teammates miss so what. Stop trying to pass because you are so in love with your own shot? Bad basketball and if he does not improve, he will have a tarnished legacy.

Are you happy with that? Do you not think he is capable of 5 per game?

I was pointing out that he averaged more assists without Kidd this year. He averaged 2.6 with Kidd.

I know what you meant. He needed to be less of a facilitator.

But you did not answer my question.

I think he is capable of 5 per game if the team is playing like it is now. Earlier in the season he was moving the ball well and guys couldn't hit the side of a barn. Hard to imagine guys struggling more on the offensive end of the floor then JR, Shump, Felton and even Tyson who has struggled to hang onto the ball and finish. The woes of the backcourt have been written about a lot. The team is playing better now but that hasn't been the case all season.

"i want to test free agency"

do you understand what this translates to if you are this *******'s teammate? "i don't think these guys are good enough to play with me."

hard to play with focus and drive when this is the prevailing sentiment of the guy who is supposed to be the franchise cornerstone.

can't wait to see what jackson is going to do.

even better melo is screwed now no matter what. either play for thibodaux or play under jackson.

this is great!

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

It was a dumb thing to say. So what! Play correctly on the court and say whatever the hell you want. It seems like you are looking for reasons to despise him.

Karl Malone sh1t from him mouth on a daily basis. Kobe? Ask Phil about him, don't get me started.

Players do and say dumb things - if you listen to what these guys have to say and actually try to read into it then you are giving these jocks too much credit. Lebron was the biggest and most hated douche for his big mouth and dumb Decision(s). Now he wins and it goes away.

His teammates are not playing badly because he opened his mouth. They just stink - no need to blame him for everything, its not balanced. Never hear you pick on Tyson and his attitude. To me he is the team leader and he is a sh1tty leader.

"even better melo is screwed now no matter what. either play for thibodaux or play under jackson."

Screwed? I would say his hand will be forced to have to play the right way. That's a win win for him and for us (if he stays).

You say you it would not bother you if he went to chicago and won. Is that really true? Doesn't seem that way.

It seems like every thread now has this I hate Melo mood. I don't see this in some of the other forums. If this continue to keep up you guys who hate Melo can just take over the Forum. You are doing a pretty good job at it. And i really don't need it.

Papa, Maybe other sites are more enjoyable as a Melo love site but I think things are pretty objective here. Basically teams that are not up to expectation will have its fans looking for blame and it usually starts with the Star. Last year Melo got lots of praise and chants early by fans of "MVP". He has shown ability to carry the team for weeks at a time, but he is not Durant or Lebron that can do it for a season and for most of a playoff run.

YOu really have perhaps a half a dozen "Melo haters" and for me I just ignore many posts as its the same arguement over and over. I also don't read trade proposals, Draft sleeper threads, and many posters who come out with redundant statements. To that degree Im sure Im on others "ignore list" as well.

Perhaps an "Ultimate Melo" site might work for some better but thats not objective.

I do hear you about enjoyment. I did my vow of Lent to really just take a break as I too found it not much entertainment value here as the season slipped away and the thought of tanking without a pick and Melo perhaps leaving as very depressing.

With My savior PhilJax as the headline it broke my vow as this is big news.

Your really one of the few that attend games so I can undrstand your objection to the negative. Many of us are out of town and dont get to many games. I don't even watch that many of the games anymore because they are not fun to watch.

As far as melo goes, I am long on record as the team sold him heavy to fans as the savior and it perhaps is just one reason for the backlash. I hated the trade but in my view Melo has lived up to his end of the bargain but the team has not been able to fulfill its stated goal of being a true contender. Why? Thats been covered for years and its reasons differ by opinion.

Papa, we enjoy your contributions but most of all you have to enjoy the site and your time on it. Stay loose!

your argueing with a guy who thinks Gallo's contract is better than Melo's, that doesnt watch Knick games and thinks the rim should 11 feet because there is too much dunking in the NBA.

DK really knows his basketball and is pretty balanced of what type of play/players he likes and doesn't like (unlike his all over the place brother poster)

He just has mad hate for Melo. Seems personal but fans have the right to hate.

perspective is the very thing you utterly lack, along with context. in the real world you measure price in terms of value. we ridiculously overpaid for melo in terms of money and assets. now you want him to continue to get paid as though he has value more than a certain price?

this dude should be lowballed big time.
